Forged, Self-Latching Jaw

Self-Latching Jaw

The one-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel hitch provides absolute security with its wraparound design. Increased jaw-to-king-pin contact results in not only a stronger connection, but less noisy rattling and stiff chucking as well.

The jaw is also always ready to receive, so you don't need to use the handle to open it before backing up toward your trailer. As long as the bail pin is removed from the latching handle, the jaw will accept the king pin as it enters the hitch.

Finally, the jaw is self-latching, so it will automatically secure your trailer's king pin when it moves into the jaw.

Quiet, Comfortable Ride

Pivot Bushings

In addition to the tight jaw tolerance, a close connection between the head and the pivot bushings further reduces rattle and movement. And because the pivot bushings are independent from the head, they can be tightened to ensure a strong connection over time.

King Pin Indicator Prevents High Pinning

King Pin Indicator

This M5 hitch features a built-in king pin indicator to ensure proper hookup. This indicator is located on the back of the head along with a V-shaped notch that are both visible from the cab of your truck. The V-notch is lined up with the jaw at the front of the hitch, and can be used as a guiding point to line the king pin up with the jaw as you back up your truck. The jaw also has an internal plate that keeps the king pin from entering if it is too high to enter safely. As a result, the king pin indicator will only change from red to green if the king pin is fully engaged in the jaw.

Easy-to-Use Latching Handle

Lever and Hitch

This hitch's handle is designed for smooth motion and effortless operation. It requires only 2 fingers to use and won't bind up as you pull. In addition, the handle is long, so it's easy to access from outside of your truck bed. And the ergonomic grip makes it comfortable to hold and pull from different angles.

Tried to install this on a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500, dual rear wheel, long bed, 4x4, diesel engine truck. The clamp style mounting simply does not work. The ONLY way I can see this working is by drilling added holes in the frame of the truck at the front end of the side plates. This is because of a bend in the frame at the clamp location. Also at this location the frame is boxed in and any bolt holes will be hidden. Bolts would have to fished in with bolt wires.

I am very pleased with my purchase of the Reese M5, a major improvement over my old receiver. Great service from etrailer as well.

VERY IMPRESSIVE Custom kit ! The RP50084-58 makes universal types a why bother option. I've done one and comparing the drill time saving and odd angling L straps you get with them, these meaty and made for, no guess work brackets are what makes this kit a no brainer. So pleased I chose it to haul our 30ftr. with my Tundra. Instructions are good and hardware is top notch. I'm 60 yrs. old and did it alone in my driveway if that helps anyone's decision LOL! Love your products and your company etrailer

How’s it working out? It’s still out working! checked nuts after a couple trips, undercoated everything. No issues

by: Larry07/29/2023

Enjoy putting it in I’m retired took my time Put about 5000-6000 tows great pull a 31 ft 5thwheel pulled a2017 Toyota trunda

by: Mike D.04/06/2020

The Quick Install Installation Kit made installation of the 5th wheel hitch in my 2014 Tundra fairly easy. (It's still work, but makes it possible for someone with mechanical ability to get it done) I would highly recommend the kit as well as etrailer.

Note: I did not need to remove my rear air bags as claimed by etrailer. The air bags and hitch worked together just fine.

This was our 2nd rail installation. The first was just a rail kit for a a toyota tundra. The second was a "specific custom rail kit" for our new 2019 Toyota Tundra. Well worth the money. It installed easily with no frame drilling. Order a custom rail kit for your truck, you will not regret it.

by: Gary12/21/2021

the best part of this kit was the brackets fit my truck perfectly . A template to lay in the bed for rail hole configuration would have been a great help . the big reason I rated this a 3 star is I live in the country and had to drive 30 miles to get the correct bolts needed to mount the rails { the kit was missing 8 carriage bolts , lock nuts and washers }

by: Mike12/28/2023

Works very well

by: Robert07/08/2019

Well made product. Custom fit means only drilling is in the truck bed. The rear most bolts on the front and rear rail are a major pita to get to. All 4 are basically hidden between the frame and bed. Defiantly a 2 person job. Only option on tightening is an open end wrench and lots of cramps from being a contortionist trying to find them. Overall I would buy again, but let someone else install??

by: Jeffrey09/28/2021

Great product, shipped in really good time, etrailer was excellent in communication, only small problem was package was damaged in transit, and my item had some pretty bad scratches on it. But when I notified etrailer of this they gave me a choice of shipping it back in exchange for a new one or giving me a nice credit back if I could live with the scratches. I choose the latter and I thought it was great that they gave me the choice.

by: Jeff 06/13/2020

Custom rail kit was great. Directions are really good and easy to follow. Bracket pieces are very heavy duty. Was happy with everything other than they use UPS and it’s always a delayed delivery in our area now with the Covid thing it gives them a excuse to have late deliveries non-stop! Was Two days late! Excellent Product! Excellent Company!

by: Cindy12/27/2021

I had to return this hitch as it was unusable due to manufacturing defects. etrailer honored the return and refunded me completely.

by: Stan03/10/2023

no instructions was able to download from website they where fairly clear
but there is room for some improvment I have done mechanical work most of my life Iam 67 so i try to be fair in my evaluation this is a good product would buy again

by: Pattie01/27/2022

I love it. It’s very easy for me to setup. The only issue i had was rge breakout away cable snapped in have and i was not able to find a replacement. I had a friend who was able to make me another one.

by: Kyle 12/08/2021

by: Jorge08/12/2022

Great quality, worked perfect and easy to use. I was so happy with it that I transferred it to my new vehicle. I would recommend this to a friend.

by: John01/25/2021

Great hitch. Easy to use and pulls my 40ft rig like a champion!

by: Robert V06/10/2023

The order before I received this one, I do not understand why you would ship two products that would not work together although I ordered them wrong, with out letting me know before it was shipped. I didn't know that my order was wrong until I went to install it in my truck. It cost me time and money.

by: Rhonda05/16/2023

There where parts missing.

by: James08/29/2022

Easy install, visual confirmation pin is locked into 5th Wheel, and no more chucking when pulling trailer.

by: Richard 04/19/2019

The product was excellent but installing it was quite a job. Once I got it in it was great. No complaints

Havent had any issues with this fifth wheel package. I would recommend it to anyone that needs one. Great customer service also.

by: Steven01/02/2023

This went well also. Only thing that could have been better is the grease (lube) information. To this day, I still don't know what parts to lubricate or where or with what.

Rails came in poor packaging missing parts that fell out through the holes. That said, the rest of the product was good, and installed as expected…after replacing the missing hardware

  • Do I Need a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2019 Ford F-250 Short Bed?
  • Congrats on the new trailer! You will need a sliding 5th wheel hitch. A standard fixed hitch like the Curt A20 item # C16140 won't provide you with the necessary clearance you'll need. You'll end up running the nose on your Dutchman into the back of your F-250's cab. Since you already have a set of Reese 5th wheel rails installed, the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R20 Slider item # C16541 will be a great addition to your set up. The B&W item # BWRVK2505 rails are industry standard which means they are compatible with your Reese M5 item # RP30928 along with most 5th wheel hitches on the market. • The Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30928 has three height settings (14", 16", or 18") which can all be safely used to tow from. The key is to raise you hitch head to the correct height to keep your trailer as close to level as possible while towing, while still have at least 6" of clearance between the nose of the trailer and the top of your truck's bedrails. To find this number you'll need to level your trailer and measure from the ground to the king pin plate and from the ground

This hitch is designed to fit all standard base rails. If you determine that this hitch will not fit your rails, then you will want to choose a hitch based on the brand of your base rails. Sway with fifth wheel trailers is typically not very common when compared to bumper pull towing so when it is happening it's almost always due to suspension problems on the trailer. That would be the first thing I would check. Also make sure you aren't exceeding the towing capacity of your truck. If you are overloading the truck beyond what it

If you have an 8' or 5-1/2' bed you will need the # RP30047. The 5-1/2' bed will also require a sidewinder. If you have the 6-1/2' bed you need the # RP30051.

  • Recommended Fifth Wheel Installation Kit For 2016 Toyota Tundra With 5-1/2 Ft Bed
  • If the fifth wheel hitch you are going to use is an industry standard hitch, I recommend the Custom Installation Kit # RP50084-58. This kit includes vehicle specific brackets that mount to the existing holes in your truck frame and cuts the installation time in half when compared to universal installation kits. These rails are compatible with Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky hitches but will not fit Reese Elite Series (Signature Series) or Valley UBS hitches.

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Installation Kit for a 2013 Toyota Tundra Short Bed
  • Yes but first you will need a 5th wheel installation kit for your 2013 Toyota Tundra short bed. For this truck there was a 5-1/2 foot bed and a 6-1/2 foot bed (as well as an 8 foot bed). So I would need to know which of the 2 shorter beds you have to make the best recommendation for a hitch. But as far as an installation kit goes you can use # RP50084-58 for the 5-1/2 or 6-1/2 foot bed. This is a custom install kit so you won't have to drill into the truck frame for installation. If

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch and Towing Capacity of 2012 Toyota Tundra Crew Max SR5 4x4
  • Your 2012 Toyota Tundra Crewmax 4x4 has a maximum towing capacity of 9,000 lbs. So, you can pull the 5th wheel trailer you are asking about safely, however, you will want to be extremely careful as to how much weight you add to it. You could easily add 500 lbs to a trailer and be over your towing capacity, so you may want to consider a lighter trailer, but it is possible to safely tow the one you mentioned as long as you extremely aware of what you load. For your truck, I recommend

  • Is There an Underbed 5th Wheel Hitch Kit for a 2008 Toyota Tundra with 5.5' Bed
  • I do have an option for you but there are no underbed fifth wheel mounting kits for a 2008 Toyota Tundra. I recommend using the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50084-58 which is a custom fit that works with industry standard hitches. Then for a fifth wheel hitch, I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550040. This will be the only option without changing out the pin box on the trailer for a rotating option because of the bed length.
