Can I Switch My Hitch From Reese 16K to Reese 20K and Use the Same Rails
Question:
I currently have a 16K hitch installed in my 2012 3500 Silverado with an 8 foot bed. Will the 20K hitch into the footprint for my 16K using the current rails without any modifications?

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Reese 20k part # RP30928 fits into the rails you have installed on your 2012 Silverado 3500 for the 16k hitch part # RP3047. Both hitches fit into industry standard fifth wheel rails, so you will have no problem switching over to the 20k Reese fifth wheel hitch. I have attached a photo of industry standard rails and the holes the Reese hitch uses. I have also attached a video of both hitches for you as well.
