Recommendation for Fifth Wheel Hitch on 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500HD Towing a 2014 Grand Design 369RL
Question:
I currently have a 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500HD DRW with a RBW 16K Lil Rocker and Xtender installed. My new trailer, a 2014 Grand Design 369RL has a GVWR of 16,000, a dry weight of 12650, and hitch weight of 2,600. I was thinking of upgrading to either an 18 or 20K hitch, but am looking for something that will use the existing rails in my truck. Do you have any suggestions?

My personal recommendation would be for the M5 Series, part # RP30928. This fifth wheel hitch uses the single-jaw design to provide a comfortable ride while towing.
To ensure that this hitch will work with your current rails, I am including a picture that shows the mounting holes for this fifth wheel hitch. These holes have been circled in red and are spaced at 20-1/2 inches on center. If your current rails have these same mounting holes, you would be able to mount this hitch using your existing rails.
Since I do not have any information on the rails that you have in your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, I recommend contacting the manufacturer of the rails to determine their weight capacity. You always want to follow the weight limitations of the component with the lowest weight rating. This would include the vehicle, the hitch, and the rail system.
