I checked the Chevy towing guide and for your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 4WD, a 5.3L V8 and 3.42 axle ratio your fifth wheel towing capacity will depend on your cab and bed length: 9,100 lbs for a Regular Cab/Standard Bed, 9,500 lbs for a Crew Cab/Standard Bed, 9,600 lbs for a Double Cab/Standard Bed or 9,900 lbs for a Regular Cab/Long Bed.
In regards to the fifth-wheel tongue weight (kingpin weight) the guide only said that it should be 15% to 25% of the loaded trailer weight and... view full answer...
It'll depend on how much fender/frame clearance you currently have.
Going with a larger tire such as the ST235/75-15 # WST54FR tire would increase the tire diameter by about 2 inches and the width by about an inch. This will move the top of the tire about 1 inch closer to the inside top of the fender or wheel well and about 1/2 inch closer to the trailer frame to the inside.
With the trailer loaded up as you'd typically have it, you want to see 4 inches of clearance above the tire (3... view full answer...

On your 2007 Chevrolet Colorado it will have either came from the factory with a 7-way trailer connector or with no trailer connector. The models that had the 7-way trailer connector will have had all the factory wiring and fuses necessary for a 7-way trailer connector to function the trailer lights and charge line on a connected trailer. If your Colorado came with the factory tow package you will have this wiring unless it was removed by a previous owner.
The Colorado's without the 7-way... view full answer...
You won't want to cut a jack like the Square Direct Weld Jack # TJD-8000, with the issue being that doing so you would cut the lift rod inside the jack, not to mention void the warranty, and compromise its capacity. So I would avoid doing that, though I can sympathize with your issue, as 4 or 5 inches is pretty low.
There isn't an absolute minimum standard for how high off the ground a jack should be, but generally you want a jack to be about 8 inches off the ground to ensure clearances... view full answer...
Your Brake Buddy, like the Roadmaster Even Brake # RM-9400, needs to have a breakaway switch to properly function. Without a breakaway switch the vehicle that is being towed could cause much more damaged as the brakes would not be activated if the vehicle being towed were to be disconnected.
Nobody ever expects that something will happen to them, but it is always best to go with more safety and ensure that it is all setup correctly. view full answer...
You will need a shank with a larger drop to lower your Husky Weight Distribution System because the Husky Shank with a 5-1/2" rise and 1-1/4" drop will not work with your current trailer. I actually went out and grabbed your Husky weight distribution system and a few shanks to see what worked and what would give you the drop you needed.
After investigating a few shanks, the best one to fit your needs is the Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution shank # EQ90-02-4400. This shank will fit on your... view full answer...
A battery cannot be charged and discharged at the same time but if you have a charger connected to a battery that is delivering power to a load then it can look like you are both charging and discharging at the same time.
It is best to charge a battery individually, not two connected together, and to do so without a load on the battery.
Your battery charger will ideally be matched to your battery; both come in various amp hour (Ah) capacities. For example, the CTEK Multi 25000 # CTEK56674... view full answer...
To use your backup camera with the Stromberg Calson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate # VGM-07-100 you will need to fabricate a new way to mount the camera. Stromberg Carlson does not offer any kind of camera relocation kit for either style of their tailgates. view full answer...
In order to choose the best weight distribution system for your travel trailer you will first need to know your total tongue weight (TTW), which is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to go trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2017 Chevy Colorado.
The tongue weight is typically between 10% and 15% of your trailer's GVWR but you'll want to verify it by using a scale such as the etrailer Tongue Weight Scale # e99044. From there, simply add on the... view full answer...
If you have worn-out electric brakes what you will need to do is replace the brake assembly. The correct electric brakes are going to depend on the size of your drum as well as the brake mounting flange you have on your trailer.
For example the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-7-SA fits 12" diameter x 2" wide drums and a 5-bolt brake mounting flange. These assemblies require mounting hardware # BRKH12.
The Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA is for 10" diameter x 2-1/4" wide... view full answer...
If by RV you mean a motor home and not a trailer then it can have self-adjusting brakes but every vehicle I had with drum brakes were manual adjust. And of course disc brakes are self-adjusting by design so if it has disc brakes then for sure yes.
If you are talking about a travel trailer or 5th wheel trailer then it could have self-adjusting drum brakes. Even if the trailer does not have self-adjusting brakes you can install some if you wanted to.
I have included a picture showing a... view full answer...
I may have a solution for you but a hitch stabilizer like the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 is not designed to reduce rpms and save fuel. The purpose behind the # 83660 is to reduce trailer sway caused by winds, curving roads or sudden maneuvers for improved stability and increased towing safety.
To help with fuel economy you would want something along the lines of a tuner like the Edge Gas Evolution CS2 Performance Tuner # EP85350. This tuner works with the 5.3L V8 engine Trailblazers... view full answer...
The Chevy Spark can be flat towed only if it has a manual transmission. To flat tow the Spark, you will need a base plate, I recommend Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1725.
For the tow bar, I recommend The Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar, # BX7420. This non-binding design makes hooking up and unhooking the Spark from the motor home so much easier. The latches release tension to allow you to unhook the Spark from multiple angles compared to other tow bars that require the setup to be completely in... view full answer...
The 4,400 lb tandem axles you have are supporting a very similar weight and trying to get these to support exactly the same weight consistently would be pretty tedious and not particularly beneficial. The 220 lb difference is perfectly fine so I would concentrate on making sure you tow as level as possible, which is going to be the best thing for you to for even suspension wear.
If you take a look at the accompanying photo you can see that you need 5" to 6" for clearance from bed rails... view full answer...
Westin does not mark their grille guards with part numbers, although other manufacturers might.
I do know that with the Westin product, not only are the bracket kits vehicle specific but usually the guards themselves are as well. That's why I typically caution folks not to buy used grille guards without knowing absolutely for sure what vehicle they came off of. view full answer...

My contact at WeatherTech advised that in general it is best to avoid the fully automatic brush-type car washes that make contact with their bug deflectors. The nature of automated car wash facilities varies quite a bit (there are no-touch types, large rotary brush types and also the hanging-strip type) and so it is tough to make a blanket statement.
