I did some research and read in the owner's manual on page 10-58 that tire chains are not to be used.
We do run into this problem with customers wanting to take their vehicle where chains are required by law. The owner's manual says not to use them so it can be very confusing. Due to the clearance around the tire that is required when using tir chains, you may be able to use a Class S chain that has a much lower profile than standard chains. I am not sure if I would label it lucky. I called my contact at Curt and they told me that they have some cases where the car manufacturer did not have the weldnuts on the frame rail. Please note that there will only be weldnuts on the passenger side and not on the driver side of the Volt to install the # C11221 trailer hitch.
