One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

The cooler was easy to install, the instruction were easy to follow. I did check the oil temp after pulling a 4000 ft grade pulling a camp trailer with an electronic temp probe and there was a 50 deg temp drop thru the cooler. 669243

I contacted Derale to verify that any transmission cooler will work on your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee as long as it will fit where you want to install it. I recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Item # D13611 as it is small enough to mount in many different locations but still provide you with the proper cooling for your transmission. I have also provided a link to the different size coolers for a Jeep Grand Cherokee so you can take a look and get a better idea... view full answer...
I do not see any reason why you would not be able to tow a 1,255 pound boat and trailer with a 2008 Ford Taurus. You should check your vehicle owner manual and make sure that the gross trailer weight and the tongue weight of the boat, loaded and ready to tow, are within the vehicle limits.
We have the Draw-Tite Max-Frame, # 75299, which has a 3,500 pound weight carrying capacity and would be plenty of hitch to tow the boat you mentioned, as long as the vehicle ratings are high enough.

Mounting a trans cooler in front of everything else, radiator and AC condenser, will yield the most cooling ability. The size of the heat exchanger is the factor that weighs most heavily on the cooling ability followed by location and construction/design.
The best way to select a cooler is by considering the load you will be towing and the area you will be towing in. The cooler needed to aid in towing a single jet ski in a cool or moderate climate would not be nearly as big as the cooler... view full answer...
As long as the fins on the Derale Cooler # D15604 or # D13611 are facing out so they can get airflow then you can mount them vertically if you needed to. I have included a link to a video review of transmission cooler # D13611 for you and an FAQ on oil coolers for # D15604. view full answer...
I typically recommend choosing the largest transmission cooler that will fit into the available space. The best place to install a transmission cooler is directly behind the grille, in front of the radiator and A/C condenser.
Choosing the largest available cooler like part # D13503 is a good choice, because you cannot over-cool a transmission. The cooler measures 8 by 11 inches, and is 7/8 of an inch thick.
The cooler installs inline with the transmission return line that runs from the... view full answer...
If you're not planning on towing frequently at or near its 4500 lb capacity or in mountainous areas, the Derale # D13611 you'd looked at would be an excellent choice. The cooler is a plate fit design, which offers extremely high efficiency in a small package that won't take up much room on the front of your radiator. If you'll be pushing the vehicle harder by towing more frequently and planning on running up and down hills, a larger cooler like # D13502 would be a better choice. Unless... view full answer...
I would be happy to help you set your 2012 Ford Escape up for towing. You're going to need a hitch, a couple of wiring harnesses, a brake controller and ball mount. Plus the requested transmission cooler. Since your Escape does not have the towing package you are going to need two separate wiring harnesses to have a connector like the Hopkins 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket item # HM40975. You will also need to hardwire in your brake controller since you do not... view full answer...
It is pretty common for aftermarket products such as transmission coolers to deliver performance that is superior to that of OEM components. Transmission coolers vary in their efficiency/cooling power and are given Class Ratings to indicate their effectiveness. Small is okay but bigger is definitely better when it comes to coolers.
For example, a small cooler like the Derale # D13611 (about 11 x 4-inches) carries a Class I rating while the much larger # D13503 (11 x 8-3/4-inches) is rated... view full answer...
With transmission coolers "size does matter..."
Basically the bigger the cooler you can fit in front of the radiator the better it's going to cool your fluid. Between the two you mentioned the part # D13503 would be the best option. It's size is 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep.
For your size vehicle this is the perfect size and would do a great job. view full answer...
Aftermarket transmission coolers are typically marketed as supplemental coolers, not replacement coolers. If you are looking to replace your OEM transmission cooler due to a leaky or damaged cooler, then you will want to install the largest transmission cooler that will fit in the space available. The ideal place to install this cooler would be in front of the AC condenser or radiator to allow for adequate air flow.
I would recommend looking at the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Cooler,... view full answer...
You will want to install the cooler on the return line. You can identify which one is the return by starting out with the engine cold, starting it, shifting into gear for about 10-seconds and then back to park, then shutting the engine off. Feel the two lines; the cooler one is the return line.
Please note that when you add a cooler like Derale # D13611 (or a larger one) that is confirmed to fit your car you naturally also add a requirement for additional fluid. Toyota insists that only... view full answer...
Using a transmission cooler on your motorhome when towing a vehicle would definitely help limit the wear and tear on the transmission. The Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13611, is designed for compact cars so I would recommend the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13504, which is designed for larger vehicles.
You will want to make sure that you will have room in front of your a/c condenser or radiator to install the heat exchanger.
If you are asking about installing the Derale Transmission... view full answer...
For your 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche with 5.3L V8 engine the most popular supplementary transmission cooler is the Derale part # D13503 which will install using Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting # D13035.
This cooler is a Class III type, meaning it offers substantial supplementary cooling of your transmission fluid after it gets its first temperature reduction inside your radiator. This 11 x 8-3/4 x 7/8-inch cooler will take in the transmission fluid after the initial cooling and drop its... view full answer...
I have not heard of that being done but it absolutely could work. What I would instead recommend is keeping your current transmission cooler and adding the Derale Electra-Cool Combo Engine and Transmission Cooler Assembly w/ Fan, -8 AN Inlets - 8 Pass # D15200 to use as an additional transmission cooler and a power steering cooler. This kit comes with the barb fittings to make the installation easy.

The transmission cooler part # D13611 that you referenced is a pretty small cooler. Since you are towing on steeper grades a larger cooler would be your best option.
If you can fit the part # D13503 instead of what you currently have this would be a much better option. This cooler measures 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. Basically the larger the cooler the more efficient it will be at cooling the fluid. Since you already have the hard part done of installing a cooler all you would... view full answer...
The transmission temperature on your 2004 Toyota Camry should run through the computer and be accessible through the OBD-II port using the Edge Insight, # EP84130. The parameters that you could potentially monitor include:

Engine Oil Pressure (EOP)
Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT)
Engine Oil Temperature (EOT)
Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT)

For your 2006 Mitsubishi Raider, the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ NPT Inlets - Class I -Extra Efficient # D13611 is a small but strong transmission cooler. It requires no extra fittings for installation.
For a better transmission cooler, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient # D13503. This cooler is designed for Mitsubishi Raiders with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions. This... view full answer...
The best way to select the correct transmission cooler is by determining where there is enough space to mount it.
The attached diagram shows the best three positions to mount the transmission cooler in order. Transmission coolers are more efficient when they receive maximum air flow. The "A" transmission cooler location in the diagram is 100% efficient so a larger transmission cooler is not needed to compensate for the loss of cooling power.
My recommendation is the Derale Dyno-Cool... view full answer...
Yes, the general wisdom on supplementary fluid coolers for towing vehicles is that the transmission is top priority followed by the power steering system.
The transmission cooler I recommend for your Explorer is the Derale Class III plate-fin cooler # D13503. This is because this cooler's 11 x 8-3/4-inch size allows it to very efficiently cool your transmission fluid a second time, after it is first cooled by the OEM cooler inside your radiator. The best install location is right in front... view full answer...
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 1996 Subaru SVX is the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit with Barb Inlets, Class III # D13503. This cooler will provide a large surface to help further cool the transmission fluid, with the cooler measuring 11 inches wide x 8-3/4 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep.
The plate and fin style transmission cooler offers an increased surface area for cooling over the more traditional tube and fin style. Derale's # C13503 cooler a great... view full answer...
Both the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13611 and the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit , # D13501, would be a great choice for your 2011 Toyota Corolla.
The general rule is that transmission fluid cannot be cooled too much, so using the largest cooler that will fit is a good idea, especially if towing. The only reason not to add the largest cooler possible, would be if you live in very cold climates where temperatures are below 0 degrees often... view full answer...
Transmission coolers should not impair the engine's ability to stay cool when operating. One point to note is that these coolers are much smaller than the radiator and allow plenty of air flow to pass both around and through to the engine.
For transmission coolers, the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13611 is a fine choice. It's a radiator style design and the fluid is continually agitated to help dissipate heat. Include is a video review for more information. view full answer...
The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Cooler # D13611 would be an excellent choice for use on your 2011 Nissan Maxima. Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, but there are coolers that are recommended based on available mounting locations of your vehicle.
It is always recommended to use the most efficient mounting location that is possible. Typically this is located between the AC condenser core and the grille. If the ideal and most efficient mounting location is not possible, then... view full answer...
When choosing a transmission cooler, there are several factors that go into deciding the best one for your needs. This includes how much weight you will be towing with your 2010 Honda Accord, the terrain you will be driving on, the distance you will be towing, and the available location a cooler can be installed in order to keep the transmission fluid in the optimum temperature range (160 to 200 degrees F).
