Expert Reply:
The transmission temperature on your 2004 Toyota Camry should run through the computer and be accessible through the OBD-II port using the Edge Insight, # EP84130. The parameters that you could potentially monitor include:
Battery Voltage
Intake Air Temperature (IAT)
Engine Oil Pressure (EOP)
Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT)
Engine Oil Temperature (EOT)
Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT)
Miles Per Hour (MPH)
Miles Per Gallon (MPG)
Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)
1/4-mile and 0 - 60 times
If you are concerned about the transmission fluid temperature on the vehicle, you could install a transmission cooler. Since the Camry is a smaller car with less room in the engine bay than larger vehicles, I recommend going with a cooler that will not require a lot of room, like # D13611. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation of a transmission cooler and our FAQ article on transmission coolers.
