One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Jeep Wrangler
The product is great, the only issue I had was that it did not have the correct connectors for the Jeep Wrangler, but I was able to get some quickly. It's kept my Jeep's Trans fluid temp nice and cool, even when pulling my 3k pound travel trailer.. GREAT!1651335

Easy to install and has worked great on my '06 4Runner v6. A little extra piece of mind for the mountains. This size just barely fits on the passenger side of the radiator - there is a central, vertical support bar behind the grill that prevents a wider cooler from fitting.1025788
I can not install the transmission cooler BECAUSE the other parts ordered has not arrived.1553715

This Transmission cooler really works well. It keeps my transmission much cooler while towing heavy trailers. I connected it in series with the factory coolers for a lower operating temperature. If towing or hauling heavy loads I recommend this plate cooler. Also plates remove more heat than tubes. 804231

This cooler is great. The transmission even towing rarely ever gets above 150 degrees. Heat is the main cause of transmission failure and fluid turning to varnish. Highly recommend this cooler.

Packaging was damaged but no damage to cooler due to solid construction. Had done online searches for installation tips and suggestions. All very beneficial. However, this cooler is larger than many I saw online and I had to find an alternate installation location. I was able to find a suitable location in front of radiator and minor modification (drilled two additional mounting holes in mount bracket and trimmed one corner for clearance.) Overall has shown lower transmission operating temps. Have not towed since installation and hope that lower temps carry over to towing a load. I give this product, shipping, and customer service a thumbs up. 644257

This was easy to mount in front of the radiator, and connections were correct to run as 2nd trans cooler for Armada, towing 6500lbs. Immediate change to about 15-20 degrees on long uphill climbs. Just need to inform the tranny guys that it takes more fluid whenever you get a change.1122613

Replaced Trans cooler on 1 ton. Temps running lot lower than stock cooler. 160621

Parts arrived fast and in good condition. My setup needs recessed mounting, and I must use the cooler's bolt holes for proper clearence and support. Supplied plastic ties and foam are not quite enough for a secure mounting, and the supplied hose barb fittings are nice aluminum, but I need a 1/2" barb end, not 3/8". These little things are no problem. I'm happy and will buy from e-trailer again.1091069

The Derale Series 9000 Transmission cooler can mount either in font of or behind the radiator. The unit measures 11 inches in length, 11-3/8 tall (including mounting tabs) and 1-1/4 inches thick. As this is not a vehicle-specific product, you will have to examine and measure the areas in front of and behind your radiator to see if the proper clearance exists.
The preferred mounting location would be in front of the radiator for maximum air flow. Installing the cooler behind the radiator... view full answer...
It sounds to me like you will definitely want to upgrade your transmission cooler. Since you will not have a cooler that is being cooled by the fluid running through the radiator, I agree that you will need to upgrade or add a cooler to your system.
Heat Sink Coolers like the Dual-Pass Heat Sink Transmission Cooler, item # D13266, that you referenced are not nearly as efficient as a plate and fin cooler or a cooler with an electric fan added.
If you are running an electric fan with high... view full answer...
For your 2012 Nissan Titan I recommend Derale Transmission Cooler # D13614. This is a Class V cooler meaning that it is very efficient and will provide a large cooling capacity.
The best place to mount the cooler is right behind the grille/in front of the AC condenser core. It can get the most airflow in this position. The line from the transmission will go from the tranny to the factory cooler. From there it needs to go to the new supplemental cooler and then back to the transmission.

As far as transmission coolers go, you cannot cool transmission fluid too much, so installing the largest cooler that space will allow is perfectly fine and will benefit your transmission the most.
The trailer and Jeep you will be towing will probably add up to about 7,000 lbs so I would recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13614. This cooler measures 11 inches wide x 11-3/8 inches tall x 1-1/4 inches deep, so you will need to make sure there is room... view full answer...
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific so there are no specific instructions for vehicles. Our best cooler would be the one that is most efficient. Stacked plate coolers are the most efficient and a good option with an install kit is the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13614. I have included a link to a video review of the cooler for you.
Installation is actually fairly straight forward. I have included links to some FAQ articles and videos that will show... view full answer...
The Derale Transmission Pan Cooler # D14208 that you referenced has been confirmed to fit the Ford E40D transmission so it would fit and would help to reduce fluid temperatures.
For a solution that would work better a supplemental cooler would be a better option. One like the part # D13503 would do a better job reducing the fluid temperature than a pan cooler. The best way to pick out a cooler is to get the largest one that will fit in the available space in front of the radiator. Another... view full answer...
I would be happy to recommend a transmission cooler for your 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ 2WD.
If your Tahoe has the 4.8L V8 I recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ NPT Inlets - Class V - Extra Efficient # D13614, or if you have the 5.3L V8 I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV - Efficient # D13504 instead.
For either of these options you will need the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM # D13035,... view full answer...
Since you will be pushing the towing limits of your 2007 Chrysler Town and Country it would be a good idea to use an additional transmission cooler as well as a weight distribution (WD) system to help level your entire towing setup. The WD system will actually do a better job at leveling your towing setup than suspension enhancement will.
For a transmission cooler I recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13614 because it is a Class V plate-fin cooler which... view full answer...
We do have several transmission coolers that use NPT 1/2 inch fittings though the hose size may be different. It is the inner diameter that you would need to know. The 1/2 inch NPT cooler use a 3/8 inch inner diameter hose.
Since transmission fluid cannot be over cooled, the largest cooler that will fit in the engine compartment is recommended. In the 1/2 NPT category, the largest we carry is # D13614 that you have referenced. I have included a link to a video review of this cooler and... view full answer...
As long as the transmission fluid temperatures are staying under 220 degrees you are pretty safe but keeping the fluid as cool as possible only helps so going with a larger or more efficient cooler like the Derale # D13614 in place of or in addition to what you have would be a really great idea. There really isn't such a thing as a cooler that is too big as long as you can make it fit. view full answer...
Adding a transmission cooler to your 2005 Nissan Titan is a great idea to improve transmission performance and longevity, especially if you will be towing your Rockwood Roo 21SS trailer. Towing will put additional strain on an engine and transmission and one of the most common causes of transmission failure is overheating.
When choosing a transmission cooler, it is best to choose the largest cooler that will fit in the space you have available because transmission fluid cannot be over... view full answer...
If you choose to bypass the factory transmission cooler on your 2005 Chevy Tahoe then I recommend a large cooler that will fit and the most efficient design. If it were me I would go with cooler kit # D13614. It is rated ad a Class V, extra efficient, which would definitely work better than the factory cooler.
Remember that you will need to plug the factory cooler inlet and outlet if you bypass it with this method. I have linked a video review of this cooler and a link to our help article... view full answer...
It is possible to bypass the original cooler and install a cooler like the # D33504 Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler. It is typically recommended to install this with your factory cooler to assist in the cooling process. I would not recommend this if you plan on doing some heavy towing.
Since this would be the only transmission cooler, you will want to use a larger model like a class IV or V. The # D33504 Derale I already mentioned is a Class IV plate-fin cooler that is... view full answer...
The return line is typically the bottom line, but you should confirm by doing the following.
Start cold engine, place the transmission in drive for about 10 seconds, then shift back to park and shut motor off.
Then, feel the upper and lower transmission lines. One line should be noticeably cooler than the other. The cooler of the two lines would be the return.
Since you cannot over cool a transmission, we recommend choosing the largest cooler that will fit into the space available.... view full answer...
Hey Aaron,
So what you'll do when installing the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13614 in series with the OEM cooler on your 2017 GMC Savana is find the two transmission oil lines that run from the transmission to the radiator, and from what I can see your OEM cooler is right at the front of the radiator.
You'll need to find the return line, which you do by warming up the vehicle and feeling the lines, with the colder of the two being the return line, which you'll... view full answer...
For this particular cooler, you would need to use a probe thermostat like part # D16759. This kit has an adjustable turn-on temperature range from 150-240*F. The turn-off is set at 10* lower than the turn on. view full answer...
We can't ever safely recommend you exceed the towing capacities of a truck like your 1992 Ford F-150.
However, for a transmission cooler for your truck the best option is going to be to go with the largest one you can fit in front of your radiator.
The Plate Fin Cooler part # D13614 would be a great option. This is a larger cooler that measures 11W x 11-3/8T x 1-1/4D Inch and is a very efficient design cooler. You will also need the fitting part # D13014 to make the install easier.

I would recommend you go with as big of a transmission cooler as you can fit in your 2005 Chevy 1500HD. You will need to measure the available space in front of the radiator to pick out the biggest one that will fit there.
The part # D13614 would be an excellent choice as it is a very efficient cooler. It's dimensions are 11" Wide x 11-3/8" tall x 1-1/4" deep. Check out the review video I attached for more info. You will also need the fitting part # D13035. view full answer...
A supplemental automatic transmission cooler is recommended for towing or even for normal driving. Since transmission fluid cannot be overcooled, adding a cooler is a simple way to help prolong the life of the transmission. I recommend the Derale cooler # D13503 for your 2005 Nissan Titan. It is the most popular cooler for your truck.
The best place to put it is behind the grille, in front of the AC condenser and radiator. That is where it will work the best. I have included a link to... view full answer...
I would suggest the largest plate and fin transmission cooler that will fit on your vehicle to provide the most cooling.Transmission coolers are flow through devices so you can pretty much use any transmission cooler you want as long as it will fit in your vehicle. You cannot cool the transmission fluid too much so there is no worry of installing a cooler that is too large. The only precaution with a very large cooler is to let the engine warm a bit on bitterly cold days before taking... view full answer...
Both the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13613 and # D13612 will work for your application but I recommend going with the slightly larger # D13613. The 8-7/8 inch height on this unit (compared to 6-3/8 inches on the # D13612) will provide more space for the fluid to travel and thus allow for more efficient cooling on your GMC Safari.
The included radiator adapter will fit most vehicles with 5/16 inch transmission lines but it's possible that you may need to cut or... view full answer...
Both transmission cooler # D13504 and # D13614 can be used on your 2007 GMC Yukon XL. The difference is the capacity. The larger # D13614 has more capacity so it is more efficient but it also takes up more space. If the larger cooler fits I recommend going with it.
You can use fitting # D13035 with either cooler to avoid having to cut and flare lines. view full answer...
There is a lot of pressure within the transmission lines of a vehicle, including your 2006 GMC Sierra so the tighter the fit the better. If an 11/32 inch hose is needed then I would go with it over a 3/8.
Cooler # D13503 isn't really large enough or efficient enough to allow you to bypass the factory cooler. That is why I recommend installing the cooler as a supplemental unit. If the fitting on your radiator has a 5/8" hex head then you can use special fitting # D13018 and not have to... view full answer...
The Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D13614 is designed to work with your 1995 F-250 with the 7,3L diesel.
Since you said you have a small cooler already I recommend running the fluid through the cooler you have and then through the # D13614, and then through the radiator. This would be the optimal way to cool your fluid.
To make it much easier to install the hoses it is recommended to use part # D13024 if you have 1/2-inch-20 threads. If you have 1/4 or 3/8 inch NPT-trans-line fittings... view full answer...
