Transmission Cooler for a 1994 Rexhall Aerbus Motorhome with 460 Ford Engine and E40D Transmission

Question:

Will this fit, most importantly work to lower temp, on 1994 Rexhall Aerbus motorhome with 460 ford and E40D? Just had a rebuild from heat.......ruined. Now running between 200 and 230. The latter when a bit hotter out and also when I want to run @ 70 mph. Coolers were cleaned, not sure if flushed? Cant afford another rebuild. Will an additional cooler work better? What do they cost? Do I need both? Thanks

The Derale Transmission Pan Cooler # D14208 that you referenced has been confirmed to fit the Ford E40D transmission so it would fit and would help to reduce fluid temperatures.

For a solution that would work better a supplemental cooler would be a better option. One like the part # D13503 would do a better job reducing the fluid temperature than a pan cooler. The best way to pick out a cooler is to get the largest one that will fit in the available space in front of the radiator. Another option these coolers offer is that they generally have lower prices than pan coolers.

The # D13503 measures 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. I attached an install video for you to check out.

For a similar sized cooler that would be even more efficient I would recommend the part # D13614. This cooler is 11" Wide x 11-3/8" tall x 1-1/4" deep and is a plate-fin design that is more efficient than the # D13503.

I attached an FAQ article on transmission coolers for you to check out as well.
