Jeff Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Dutton Lainson hand winch with the automatic brake. And the left side handle has an 800 pound weight capacity. Now this is a standard duty winch, which is designed for horizontal pulling or vertical lifting. So it works perfect for grain augers, boat lifts, and other industrial applications.
We mentioned the handle, if you notice, is on the left-hand side for left-handed use. And the handle will not spin under load. It does use a friction braking mechanism. You can see right here by the gearing. And this will automatically apply a constant holding action throughout raising and lowering operations.
And it holds the load exactly in position when you let it go. Now, the brake does require a minimum load of 50 pounds for the brake to operate correctly. If you notice this does have a nice zinc tough plate finish on it, on the base and the hardware for corrosion resistance. The reel itself has a nice powder coated silver reel. Now this will accept either a 3/16 diameter by 68 foot long cable.
Or a 2 inch wide by 27 foot long strap. And the handle is included. It is made in the USA. Few specs again, the capacity on this winch is 800 pounds. Minimum load is 50 pounds and the gear ratio is 4.4 to one.
And basically what that gear ratio is telling you that for every 4.4 revolutions of this handle it'll rotate the reel one revolution. But that should do it for the review on the Dutton Lainson hand winch with the automatic brake, the left side handle, and an 800 pound weight capacity..
