Built-In Offset for Dual Applications

This tire-and-wheel assembly is designed to be used in dual-wheel setups. The 6.1" offset allows the wheel to be positioned closer to the trailer frame when used as the inner wheel of the setup. And if you use this assembly as the outer tire and wheel, the offset ensures that it will sit closer to the outside of your trailer.

Stud-Piloted Wheel

This stud-piloted (Budd-type) wheel centers on the studs instead of the hub. This requires the use of inner and outer lug nuts (sold separately). The nuts should be threaded correctly for the left and right sides of your trailer.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and finished on both sides with baked-on DuPont powder paint.

Provider Radials

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Review of Taskmaster Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - TA56MR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at the taskmaster provider 2 15 75 R17.5 radial tire, in a low range H, mounted on this 17 and a half inch white steel dual wheel, with a 10 on eight and three-quarter inch bolt pattern. Now this tire wheel assembly is ideal for use on trucks, buses, and heavy duty trailers. The wheel we'll start with is a nice heavy duty dual steel wheel. Has the two hand holes here you can see, it is a very sturdy and corrosion resistant wheel. Does use a three step finishing process which includes a zinc phosphate bath, then an eco primer, and then a white powder coat on both sides of the wheel.

Now this is a dual wheel, so it does have a high offset, and basically that allows the wheel to be used as either an inner or an outer wheel of a dual wheel set up. The offset this wheel has is 6.1 inches, and depending on how the wheels use it, would either be a positive 6.1 inch or negative 6.1 inches. This wheel is also a stud piloted wheel. Does require the use of inner and outer lug nuts for installation. Now those we do sell separate on our website, and they're usually listed on this product page as a related product.

Also, if you notice in the one hand hole right up here, you can see it does include the metal valve stem install. Now the tire on this, it is a radial tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords for a long life. This tire is great for highway use. They do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation, and the tire is baked tested to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Now this whole tire and wheel assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications, and it will exceed your federal motor vehicle safety standards. A few measurements on this, starting with the wheel, the diameter of the wheel, which is measured inside, inside is 17 and half inches. The width on just the wheel is six and three-quarter inches wide. We mentioned the bolt pattern on this wheel, it is a 10 on eight and three-quarter inch bolt pattern, and the weight capacity on just the wheel is 6,200 pounds. Now the pilot hole diameter, which is this large hole here, goes over the hub on your trailer.

Diameter of that opening is 6.5 inches. We had mentioned the offset is either a plus or a minus 6.1 inches. Now the tire size, which will be stamped on the side wall of the tire, I spin it around right here, you can see 2 15 75 R17.5. The R means that it is a radial design tire, section width on this tire, 8.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 30.2 inches. Now this tire is a load range H, which means it's a 16 ply tire, and the maximum load on this tire when it's used in a dual wheel application is 4,540 pounds at 123 PSI. And then the last thing I do wanna mention is most all the tires are now coming through with a speed rating on them, and the speed rating is stamped on the side wall with a letter designation. And where you'll find that is right after the size we just went over, right after that you'll see two numbers for the load index. And then there's a letter M stamped right there. So speed rating M will mean this has an 81 mile-per-hour speed rating. But that should do it for the review on this taskmaster provider 2 15 75 R17.5 radial tire in a low range H, mounted on this 17.2 inch white steel dual wheel, with the 10 on eight and three-quarter inch bolt pattern.

I purchased these tires for my tandem axle boat trailer. It's difficult to find this size of tire in a load range D so I was happy to find them on etrailer. I have 500 miles on the new tires and they have performed well with no issues.

The folks at etrailer have been great to work with. I ordered 5 tires and only 4 of them showed up initially due to an issue with shipping. etrailer rectified the issue and sent me the fifth tire, which just arrived. I would definitely purchase from etrailer again in the future. Thanks.

Replacement tires for 1998 United Expressline 7x14 box trailer.

by:

It’s been a year since we put these tires and new rims on my horse trailer. Zero complaints! They are wearing well and have eased my worry of having tire trouble while hauling my best horse buddy!

by:

I was looking for a tire to replace one that had a large cotter pin stuck in it. I wanted to match the other 3 tires on the flatbed trailer I use to transport my compact tractor as closely as possible because the other tires were relatively new and still in good shape. etrailer.com had an exact match, so I bought 2 tires. I was glad etrailer.com had the same tire I needed to replace. The tires I ordered were delivered in just a few days.

by:

I have replaced the original tires on the last two trailers we have had because the Provider Trailer tires have been very dependable in all weather and roads. The biggest test we gave them is our trip to Alaska. From GA. to the Arctic Circle and back via the I-10 southern route. Five months and over 15,000 miles without ANY tire problems. I am putting a link to part of the trip through the Yukon on the Alaska Highway. Everyone said we would have tire and windshield issues but not one. I might add the (Load Range D is the best to use)The trailer is a 32' Jayco Whitehawk, maxed at 8,000lbs

by:

Could not find a production date on tire. Tread depth was a little less than what I expected. Just installed so no experience yet with driving on tires.

by:

Bought 3 of these tires for my 8 foot utility trailer that I use to haul my motorcycles and anything else. I have the older triangle style rims that use the old 205/70 style of tires. The newer 205/75 fit just great on my 15" x 6" rims. Can't wait to go on my next long trip with the trailer and the new tires.

by:

I'm happy with the service and speed of delivery on my tires. I did my homework and these tires checked all of the boxes. My only disappointment, and the reason for the 3 star review, these tires have a production date code from early in 2021. This makes them 3 years old before I've even had a chance to put any miles on them. Everyone knows that trailer tires age out before they wear out. I will now only have 4 years of service out of these tires instead of 7. This is very disappointing as these are far from the cheapest tires on the market.

by:

Needed a spare tire and rim for our camper. Local trailer dealer recommended Etrailer. Ordered on Friday and delivered on Tuesday with the weekend being Easter. Haven’t mounted them yet but looks perfect.

by:

Only site I could find a decent price on load range D 14 inch tires.

by:

My second set of these tires. Over the years I've had many tire failures with the other brands including Goodyear, all rated 10 ply.
Was in the tire business for over 20 years so yes I know about proper inflation, rotation, loading. Boils down to most trailer tires are built like passenger car tires. The Provider tires are much heavier and built like truck tires. I cut open one of my Worn Providers to see how much under tread was there since the sidewalls are marked regroovable like truck tires.

As you can see in the picture there is a large amount of rubber under the edges where much of the wear occurs.

By the way, no tire failures in over 80,000 miles on my 35 foot 5th wheel. And that's 70+ MPH of desert driving here in AZ. Drive slower and the big rigs will be all over you...

by:

So good I recently bought 12 more for three more trailers. Thanks for the great service and excellent products. Dan

by:

I’ve ordered from Etrailer several times and as alway I’m extremely happy with their service and prompt shipping. The tires I ordered are excellent looking and were individually boxed. Thanks for great products and the top of the chain customer service!

I ordered 5 of these 14 ply G rated tires for my 28' enclosed autohauler trailer because I had one of my current E rated tires go flat and another on the same side blow out on my last trip. This is the same problem I have had on my 43' Toyhauler where I have had 4 blowouts with extensive damage to the side of my rig.
After much research and reading reviews I decided to go with G rated tires instead of the Es that came with my trailer and RV. These support much more weight per tire than the E tires. After researching eTrailer had the best prices, free and very fast shipping, and the reviews for this particular tire when I purchased 7 of them for my RV was 122 out of 122, 5 stars! These tires are flat on top and very heavy duty! Just the difference I can see with the weight and tread are far superior to any E rated rounded tread tire. I highly recommend that anyone purchasing an RV or heavy duty trailer either insist on G rated tires before purchase or change them ASAP after your pruchase. Read the reviews and trust my own experience when I say YOU WILL HAVE A BLOWOUT...it is a matter of time and it WILL NOT be a convienient time, and you WILL most likely encounter damage to your investment!
The only thing I forgot to order this time with my 5 new G rated tires is metal valve stems. These tires require 110 psi rather than 80 psi so you MUST HAVE the metal valve stems. It was a pain for me to find them in my local area when I could have just pruchased them from eTrailer like I did the last time for my RV.
I am a happy customer of eTrailer and highly recommend thier products...and no they are not paying me to say that! LOL.

by:

I love these tires. Provider rides have a quality tire with a higher weight and speed raring than most all other brand tires. My old canper tires squatted far to much at max pressure and they looked like they would roll off the rim when turning. These Provider tires barely squat with 5 psi under max. The camper feels more stable and it rolls with less resistance.

by:

Tires were delivered in a few days after ordering them ! They look great can't wait to get them mounted up !

by:

The tires are still holding air!!! No with the joking set aside, the tires have been great. Have not used the trailer in the winter yet. I would recommend theses tires. When the tractor is on the trailer. It pulls great. Rides very nice. Sometimes I don't feel the trailer back there. The trailer tires at the local store don't even compare to these. Even for the load range. Hands down I would buy them again if available and when tires are needed.

by:

As for quality these tires they look and feel awesome. Heading out on a long trip next week with the Solitude 5th wheel so I will see how they do. The weight of the Provider tire alone is 8 pounds heavier than my existing tire/wheel combo.
As for etrailer they have great service and quick shipping. Will do business with them again!

by:

Very happy with these tires from etrailer.com. I'm in construction and use them on my 16 ft. utility trailer and they r on the road working nearly ever day on the year just like me and the rest of the crew. They are wearing well after one year and I'm ready to purchase a set for the other side. I got this pair after a blow out on the freeway. My pictures will show I lost tread on the rear tire that took off my entire fender. Replacing it be my next purchase. I certainly recommend them to everyone I know. Etrailers service, pricing and professionalism will keep me returning to their site. I have purchased running lights and a few other items for my trailer from these folks. For me it so much easier to have all u need at one site why go anywhere else. Most online companies have figured out fast delivery and etrailer on it. I click...it comes to my door.

by:

These tires are way better than the tires I was getting from discount tire. The providers hold up well (better than good year or the hartland tires I was using. ) eTrailer has fast delivery and the same price or less than the big stores.

by:

I am very pleased with the Provider ST225/75R15 radial tires purchased from etrailer. They were ordered on 1/7/19 and amazingly delivered on 1/8/19. I just had the bearings repacked and the tires mounted on my 2017 Venture Sonic Lite. The ride is extremely smooth. I am looking forward to getting out on the highway for the first trip of the year! Thanks, etrailer, for selling quality tires at a great price!

by:

Have yet to put any significant miles on them, but overall am very pleased with my purchase. They are a very sturdy, well made tire with a great tread pattern. Had no issue mounting them on my trailers current rims, even though the last set of tires were 205's. Looking forward to many happy and incident free miles with these.

by:

I run these on trailer with 2 8K axles.
The
4,400 pounds per tire , 81 MPH rated tires are perfect! I can run the 75 and 80 MPH Texas speed limits with a full load and have a margin of safety left.
I tow around 30,000 miles a year and have zero complaints from these tires. They wear well, and I've never had a blow out, bulge, tread separation or any type of tire failure.

We don't have a tire that is rated for 5,000 lbs so you'd be looking at having to go to a dual wheel setup to give you the capacity you'd need for a 10k axle.
