Built-In Offset for Dual Applications

This tire-and-wheel assembly is designed to be used in dual-wheel setups. The 5.59" offset allows the wheel to be positioned closer to the trailer frame when used as the inner wheel of the setup. And if you use this assembly as the outer tire and wheel, the offset ensures that it will sit closer to the outside of your trailer. This hub-piloted wheel centers on the hub, not the lugs, and it requires the use of flange nuts (sold separately) for installation.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and finished on both sides with baked-on DuPont powder paint.

Provider Radials

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Taskmaster Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - TTWA215H-17564WD Review

Today we're going to review part number TTWA215H-17564WD. This is the Taskmaster 215/75R17.5 Provider radial trailer tire in a load range H, which is a 16-ply tire. As you can see, it's mounted on a 17.5 white dual wheel, with the 8 on 275mm bolt pattern. This tire wheel assembly is ideal for medium and heavy-duty trailers with dual wheels. This wheel is a hub pilot assembly, which can be used as either an inner wheel, just like this mounted, or if you reverse it, it can be used as an outer wheel on a dual wheel set up. This is a steel wheel with the four handholds, as you can see right here. This is very sturdy and corrosion resistant.

The wheel itself uses a three step finishing process, which includes a zinc phosphate bath, which gives you good paint adhesion. The whole wheel, front and back, is coated with an e-coat acrylic primer. Then it is finished on both sides with a baked on DuPont white powder paint. The center disk of the wheel, this part right in here, is actually spun formed from a fine grained steel. Then it's fully welded all the way around the wheel for strength and durability. The radial tire does offer a smooth ride, excellent stability at highway speeds.

They use a double steel belt, double polyester cord body with nylon overlays. This will all combine for superior function and long tire life. This tire is stamped re-groovable, as you can see right here. Basically, what that means is .. You can see how thick the tread is.

Basically, when this wears down to not much tread depth, you can actually use a re-grooving tool to gut new tread depth or tread grooves into the tire. It does have tread wear indicators, just like on a passenger car. There is one here. There is one here. If you go about every 12 inches or so, you'll notice on the sidewalls or on the shoulder it will say TWI.

Basically if you go into the groove of the tire, there will be a little raised portion of rubber. It almost looks like a speed bump that's in every groove, basically that would be 2/32 tread depth. So, when this tire wears down and that tread wear indicator bar goes straight across, that means you're at 2/32. That means this tire is actually worn out. It gives you a good visual indicator of the tread wear on the tire. This tire and wheel assembly does meet the Department of Transportation's specifications and it does exceed your federal motor vehicle safety standards. A few specs on this on the wheel itself. It is a 17.5 diameter by 6 3/4 inches wide. Again, the bolt pattern, as you can see, is 8 lugs on 275mm. This does use a wheel lug size of the 22mm x 1/2 flange lug nut. Now, we do sell those separately. I have an example of one right here as you can see. This is actually a swivel flange. As you can see, the actual flange part of it does swivel on there. We do sell these separately if you need them. They are part number 6-118. They would go right on there when you tighten it down. Now, they hub piloted wheels because this assembly will center right here on the hub pilot. It will not really center. If you'll notice, on a hub pilot wheel, it won't really have any bevel or chamfer to the holes, because the studs would just come through. Then you tighten it down like that. It does all its centering right here on this center hole, right here. The weight capacity on the wheel itself is 5,675 pounds. This pilot hole diameter is 8.7 inches. The offset on the wheel, in other words, when this mounts on right here, measure from here to the center of the wheel is 5.9 inches. Depending on how you use it, as an inner or an outer, it would be either a positive or a negative offset. It does also come, you can see right here, with the brass metal valve stem already installed for high pressure. The tire size, which is stamped on the sidewall, 21575R17.5. The R designates it's a radial tire. This has a section width of 8.3 inches. The overall diameter measured from the very bottom to the top when it's inflated is 30.2 inches. This tire is a load range H, which means it's a 16-ply rated tire. The maximum load on this tire, when used in a dual application, is 4,540 at 123 psi. The depth of these tread grooves is 16/32 and it does have a speed rating of J, which indicates 62 mph. That should do it for the review on part number TTWA215H-17564WD the Taskmaster 215/75R17.5 Provider radial trailer tire in a load range H on the 17.5 white dual wheel with the 8 on 275mm bolt pattern. .

Tire and wheel combo fit perfect. Workmanship on the wheel was better than the factory wheel I was replacing. The tire looks to be a heavy duty tire but only time will tell. This tire and wheel combo was installed on a 2017 Trailmax TD40T Tilt Trailer. etrailer has a lot of great info and there prices where the best I could find. The best part was that the tire wheel combo showed up in 2 days, that is some quick shipping.

by:

Just what I expected from etrailer
Perfect!

by:

by:

Great quality fast shipping and extremely easy to work with!!!!!

by:

Was exactly as stated and was shipped immediately. Ordering was an easy process

by:

True to form order seems to always make it here even if it is out of stock.

by:

Received the tires in 5 day and they bolted right on to my 10 ton trailer, these are some good looking tires!

by:

It took a while to receive my order which is the new normal, I was impressed by the regular updates I received of the status of my order. I understand you can’t ship something you haven’t received, but the updates made it seem more personal for a online order. Thanks

by:

I had a double blow out and one of my rims cracked. So I ordered these and they look great. I plan on installing them on my gooseneck this weekend. The four lighted 7 way plugs are awesome. I am slowly changing all 15 of my trailers over to these plugs. In the daytime it's hard to tell if everything is working or that a fuse hasn't blown, so these lighted plugs help you trust your connection. Thanks for the great pricing and prompt shipping.

by:

Excellent set of wheels and rubber.

Also
I converted electric brakes (all four) to server motor powered hydraulic (caliper). They operate in either forward or reverse.

Rather impressive.

by:

I haven't installed the wheels and tires on my trailer axles yet. I like what I received they work as good as they look I'll be well satisfied.

by:

When I found your web page I was a little skeptical, the pricing on the tires and rims was good but I figured the shipping would kill us getting 8 tires and rims to Alaska. I was wrong, it was way less than I figured. I will definitely order from you folks again!
Thanks, you saved us a lot from what it would cost us up here.

by:

Great product and fast shipping. Although it came with a half metal, half rubber valve stem and I have found that it’s neccessary to have a full metal valve stem with a 110psi tire and the temperatures they can reach.

by:

The tires and wheels were delivered in less time than quoted ! Overall completely satisfied!!

by:

Taping some foam to the wheel mounting surface would do wonders to keep from having to paint brand new wheels that had the paint scratched off.

by:

Shipping was fast!!!!! Love how much thicker the material is on these wheels. I bought these to replace some ebay wheels that keep leaking on the welds. So far so good. [Thumbs Up]

by:

Great rim and tire

by:

Great tires, will order again. Service and delivery excellent!!

by:

Good product! Fast shipping

by:

Everything taken care of as promised

  • Do Tires Have a Reduced Maximum Weight Rating When Used As Part of a Dually Configuration?
This is referring to rear tires on a dually truck. Tire sidewalls, on tires that can be used singlely or in dual, will have two maximum weight ratings marked. One rating for single use and a lower rating for dual use. In the event that one of the dually tires has a failure, the remaining three rear tires will be able to support the load long enough to move, at a reduced speed, out of immediate danger.
