Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

by:

Very impressed by the construct of the wheels . They are made in the USA ! and at a reasonable price. They arrived by UPS in a very heavy duty cardboard box with with cardboard and paper separating the two wheels. I was very impressed . No damage at all to box or wheels . Thumbs up to shipping department !

by:

wheels seem good. one had a 3/4" spot that the powder coat is rubbed off. Quality control fail. The spot is on the tire bead seal area. I will have to paint it before I mount the tires or return it.

by:

Wheels were priced well and e trailer has a great selection
Delivery was on time
Package could have been better, some of the paint was chipped due to wheels banging into each other

by:

I would say the rims were very nice, they could have been packed better. There were 2 rims in one box, one rim broke out the end and got some damage on it.

by:

Just what i wanted and fast delivery too! Dan at customer service was very knowledgeable and took my order over the phone.

by:

It's like all you have to do is think about needing rims and two days later there at you front door. Very happy

by:

I received my Dextstar steel spoke trailer wheel faster than expected. I was pleasantly surprised. The trailer rim looks perfect and matches my other one precisely. I'm very happy with my purchasing experience.

by:

Perfect fit and fast shipping.

by:

Over the past year we have pulled the camper over 12,000 miles. The wheels have held up well with no problems. They clean up easily and still look as good as they did when purchased. Very pleased!

by:

It’s a rim…made in the USA. Perfect for a second spare on my travel trailer. Same as the spare that came with it. Recent blowout made me want to have a backup for longer trips.

by:

Wheels came Quickly and were good quali ty

by:

very fast shipping will order again

by:

Fast shipping and very nice powder coating!, Good packaging.

by:

I bought 3 wheels and had new Goodyear tires mounted and balanced. All 3 wheels wobbled on the spinner and the man had to put on a lot of weights to get them true. I pulled the trailer to Alaska and back without any problems.

by:

Great Steel trailer wheel at the lowest price.

by:

nice product and reasonabled priced always a pleasure to work with etrailer

by:

Definitely disappointed. I waited an extra week and a half as they only had one in stock. One had 3/16" sideways wobble and one had that plus 1/8" vertical wobble. Pinstriping looked like a 3 year old did it. worst trailer rims I've ever purchased or mounted tires on. Will definitely make me think twice before ordering again if this is their acceptable quality. I'll pull my new tires back off these and mount some scrubs just for Spares, but I'm not going to run these on my trailer and put up with the endless vibrations.

by:

I received the wheels and am very happy with them. Have tires mounted and installed on my trailer. Wheels have a good finish that should look good for years.

So far I am very satisfied with them.

by:

My wheels arrived on the day indicated that they would be delivered. They were packaged well and I found no defects in the product.

These wheels replaced 4 rusty wheels on my 24' travel trailer.

Would recommend this supplier to anyone interested in this product.

by:

Very fast shipping, nice wheels to mount my new tires on.

by:

These rims do not fair well in a salt water environment even if you wash them down after every time the trailer is dipped in the water. I would spend the money next time and purchase galvanized or even aluminum wheels. I will be replacing them this year since the spokes as they attach to the rim seem suspect. May be a great choice is a fresh water environment but not in salt water.

by:

Shipped quickly, packaged in a box and wheels were protected by cardboard inside.

by:

the 4 wheels arrived when you said. They arrived 2 to a big box much larger than needed with no packing. The wheels were allowed to strike each other as they rolled around in the box causing damage to rim and the inside of the wheel, as the tire covered most of the inside damage, and the hub cap covered Most of the rim damage, I elected to keep them and not return them.
I suggest you review your packing and shipping procedures.

by:

Very good service and very fast

by:

They are a good inexpensive steel wheel for my 24' travel trailer, drove about 6000 miles on vacation last year and didn't have any issues with them, and still look decent.

  • Replacement Trailer Tires for a 3,880 Pound Travel Trailer with Under Rated Tires Installed
Just about every tire manufacturer has moved operations over seas so finding a trailer tire made in the USA would be very difficult. For tire size 205/75-14 you can use # AM10234. This is a radial load range C tire rated for 1,925 pounds at 60 psi. On a single axle, the capacity would be 3,850 pounds. This is 30 pounds lower than the gross trailer weight you stated. In order to get to a high enough capacity you would have to change to a 15 inch tire in a load range D, # AM10245. That...

  • High Capacity Trailer Tire Recommendation for a 15 inch Diameter 5 inch Wide Trailer Rim
The recommended wheel width for 225/75-15 trailer tires is 6 inches to 7 inches. For a 5 inch wide rim you would need to go with the 205/75-15 like you mentioned. For a Load Range D tire in this size you would want the part # AM10245. The capacity for this tire is 2,150 lbs at 65 psi. I attached a review video for this tire as well.

  • Trailer Wheel With 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern For ST225/75R15 Trailer Tire
Sure thing, and what you'll need is a 15" x 6" wheel as that's the size a ST225/75R15 trailer tire will fit. So for one that meets your specs with a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern you can choose from either of the following, depending on if there's a style you want: - Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 # AM20522 - Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 # AM20551

  • What is the Weight Limit of the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel # AM20504 for a 7000 lb. Trailer
The Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel + 1/2 inch Offset - 15 x 6 inch Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - Black, item # AM20504, has a weight capacity of 1870 lbs. and would work great on your 7000 lb. GVW trailer. The only concern is the 1/2 inch positive offset of the wheel. Most trailer wheels and tires have a 0 offset which means that the part of the wheel that bolts to the hub is centered in the wheel. Trailer wheels are designed this way to carry the loads required of them. The 1/2 inch positive offset...

  • Replacement 15 Inch Trailer Wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern Rated for 65 PSI
One option would be to go with all new tire and wheel combos. We have several options with 205/75-15 tires, load range D, mounted on wheels with 5 on 4-1/2 bolt patterns. There are aluminum and steel options and I have included a link to them for you. This will ensure that everything matches. The standard wheels that you have can likely handle 65 psi but it sounds like the spare wheel may be unique so I would replace that one completely. For the other wheels, if you are changing the tires...

In order to make sure you get the right wheel you can take a quick measurement to make sure you get a wheel with the correct bolt pattern. • How is Trailer Wheel Width Measured
Wheel width is measured from bead seat to bead seat so you cannot accurately measure it without removing the tire first. Typically the overall width will be 1 inch greater than the internal width. So for Dexstar wheel # AM20522 the actual width is 6 inches but the overall would be closer to 7 inches. Fora 15 inch wheel that would be 6 inches wide overall, 5 inches on the inside, with the same bolt pattern use # AM20422.I have linked a video that shows our resident tire and wheel expert...

Having a 3.30" hub bore is not common. The 15" wheels we currently carry, like the Dexstar # AM20428 will all have a 3.19" hub bore. What may be the best option will be to replace your hubs with something that will be a bit more common. This will require you to pull off one of said hubs to find your bearing numbers as something like the etrailer.com Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K will use the inner bearing # L68149 and outer bearing # L44649. I have a different option for you, but the highest rated 15" x 6" or 7" aluminum or steel wheels with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern have load rating of 2150 lbs. These would be like the aluminum wheels # AM22651, # AM97XR, # AM22651B or the steel Dexstar #AM20522. For a wheel with a load rating of at least 2800lbs you will need to go with a wheel that uses the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern instead like the Aluminum Viking Series Valhalla Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" - 6 on 5-1/2 - Silver Spoke...

  • Determining Width of Trailer Rim
The only sure way to determine the width of the rim you currently have would be to pull the tire off of it and get a measurement. Your local tire shop should be able to do this for you for very little cost. If the wheel has spokes that would allow a tape measure or ruler to pass through, you could take the measurement from bead seat to bead seat, which would be the width of rim you need. I have provided a photo and a diagram showing the measurement you will need to take, but it will be...

  • What is the Capacity of 15 x 5 Inch Steel Trailer Wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern AM20443

Wheels tend to have 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick metal but the powder coating makes it difficult to get a true measurement. If you go up to a 15 x 6 inch wheel, # AM20522, it is rated for 2,050 lbs at 75 psi. This wheel will accept 205/75-15 tires and 225/75-15 tires.
