What is the Weight Limit of the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel # AM20504 for a 7000 lb. Trailer

Question:

I have a 2004 US Cargo tandem axle enclosed trailer that currently has 4 - 15x6 rims 5 on 4 1/2. The trailer rating is 7000lb GVW. Will these rims work?

The Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel + 1/2 inch Offset - 15 x 6 inch Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - Black, item # AM20504, has a weight capacity of 1870 lbs. and would work great on your 7000 lb. GVW trailer.

The only concern is the 1/2 inch positive offset of the wheel. Most trailer wheels and tires have a 0 offset which means that the part of the wheel that bolts to the hub is centered in the wheel. Trailer wheels are designed this way to carry the loads required of them. The 1/2 inch positive offset will put the trailer tire closer to the trailer frame by 1/2 inch. You will need to make sure this offset will not cause the trailer tire to contact the trailer or fender, especially when fully loaded.

I checked with Americana to see if they had a Black Conventional Steel Wheel in 15x6 with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern and there is not one available at this time. The closest match I have that has a 0 inch offset is the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15 x 6 inch Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - White Powder Coat, item # AM20522.
