PC-Rated Lights
A PC-rated light produces a 90-dgree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and side maker light.
Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Hello everybody. This is jeff@etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this LED trailer clearance and side marker light with the rubber grommet and the amber lens. Now this is a small round trailer light that'll function as both a clearance and a side marker light when it's properly mounted. Does use an LED, which makes great replacements for incandescent lights. LED's are rated for up to a hundred thousand hours of operation.
They're more efficient because they provide brighter light with less power output, and there's no bulbs to replace, no brittle filaments to break. They're in a durable plastic base with a nice acrylic lens. And it's an amber lens with an amber LED. This is compatible with 12 volt DC systems. This is a recessed mount design.
You can see it includes the rubber grommet for installation, and has the two wire pigtails with the black power wire lead and the white ground wire. You can see on the end they have the male bullet connectors for connection. At the end of this video, I am going to hook this up to some 12 volt power to show you how bright the light is. And this is a PC rated light so it does produce 180 degree beam pattern. The slide is made in the USA. A few dimensions on it; the diameter of just the light, it's going to be right at three quarters of an inch, the height is going to be right at 13/16 of an inch, power draw on the slide at 12 volts is 0.07 amps and the operating voltage range is nine volts to 16 volts. So what we're going to do is go ahead and take the white wire, hook it to our ground.
Take our black power wire, hook that up. Once we have a model hooked up, turn on our 12 volt power, and you can see the amber light. I'm going to go ahead and turn off the overhead lights just to give you an idea. Here's how bright that little one LED is. And if you noticed sort of see on the table, it does give off the 180 degree beam pattern.
That's why it's a PC rated light. Now we'll go ahead and turn back on our overhead lights. Turn off our power. But that should do it for the review on this LED trailer clearance and side marker light with the rubber grommet and the amber lens.
