If you're replacing a busted or rusted-out spring on your trailer - or if you've decided to upgrade to dacromet to avoid rusted-out springs down the line - the first thing you'll need to do is measure your existing leaf springs. Take a look at the measurements above. If these dimensions - and the weight rating - match what you currently have, you should be good to go.

Remember, though, your leaf springs can flatten a bit over time. And if you're measuring your spring while your trailer is fully loaded, the overall length that you get might be a bit more than what you need a brand new, unloaded spring to measure.

Rustproof Your Trailer Suspension with Dacromet

Double-Eye Diagram Dacromet

As you travel across highways and backroads, your trailer's leaf springs are going to corrode and flake over time. This is especially true if you have a boat trailer that's regularly submerged in water. Completely rusted-out springs on trailers are all too common, and these dacromet springs are a great solution to that problem.

Dacromet Versus Rusty Springs Comparison

Longer-lasting springs will save you money and are great for any trailer, but they are a must have for folks who live or play by the water. If you live on the coast, you're probably always rinsing the saltwater off of your trailer to try and keep rust at bay. If you're really worried, you might've even tried to repaint your springs or spray them down with rust inhibitors. But upgrading to these dacromet-coated leaf springs could cut down on or eliminate all of that maintenance, leaving you more time to spend out on the water.

Rust-resistant coatings are graded according to a salt spray rating. Basically, this rating shows the amount of time it takes for a material to show signs of corrosion when exposed to pure, continuous salt spray. We conducted our own salt spray test and found that this dacromet coating lasts up to 744 hours before it begins to deteriorate. Compare that to some other dacromet coatings out there that are rated at just 300 hours - or zinc coatings that don't last for even that long - and you can be sure these springs will last.

Double-Eye Leaf Spring Basics

Leaf springs, as you probably know, make up an important part of your trailer's suspension. Their main purpose is to absorb road shock as you travel, as well as allow your axle(s) to move independently of the rest of the trailer.

Double-Eye Spring Parts

To mount this leaf spring, you'll need hangers welded onto your trailer frame - which you probably already have in place - as well as shackle straps and a suspension bolt. It's a good idea to replace your existing straps and bolt while you're under there working on things because they tend to wear out quickly. One thing that could help keep them from wearing out too fast would be upgrading to galvanized or zinc-plated hardware. Doing so will boost the corrosion resistance and, therefore, the longevity of your trailer.

We also always recommend replacing both of your springs at the same time because it's not unusual for leaf springs to sag and elongate over time. If you replace just the one, there's a good chance that it won't match your existing spring on the opposite side of your trailer, and that can mess up your alignment.

Asking for spring bolt size was a problem. Think that would be something etrailer would know. Otherwise satisfied. Installer is bringing out the correct length.

  • How To Measure Leaf Springs on a 2015 Grand Design Reflection 308BHTS For Additional Stability
The leaf springs on your 2015 Grand Design Reflection 308BHTS are going to be 1-3/4" wide, as this is the size used on double eye leaf springs. I wouldn't get to caught up in the amount of leaves your spring has as you can switch to a different amount of leaves if you are replacing them all. To measure the length from center eye to center eye you do not want to have any weight compressing the spring. I find the easiest way to measure is along the radius of the spring from center of bolt...

  • Picking Out Replacement Brake Assemblies and Leaf Springs for 2021 Grand Design 297QB
I don't have a way to know what axle capacity your trailer has so I am not able to determine that for you but I can help you figure out what you would need. Check the axles on your trailer and you should see a label that has the capacity listed. With that we can determine the correct brake assemblies like the part # AKEBRK-35-SA which fit the very common 3,500 lb axles. For leaf springs we would also need the length of your current springs. For example the part # e54SR fits 3,500 lb axles...

Hey Raymond, sorry to hear about what happened to your trailer! That sounds awful...we do have 26 inch long leaf springs but since I don't know what axle capacity you have you'll need to figure that out first by checking the axle tag to determine this. • Replacement Leaf Springs for 2022 KZ Sportsmen Classic 191BHK
Finding the correct replacement leaf springs requires measuring their length and knowing your axle capacity. It would be great if I could confirm replacement parts based on the year, manufacturer, and model but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. You can get the length of your leaf springs by measuring spring eye to spring eye, and your axle capacity from the tag on your axle. I have attached an article below which shows how to measure your leaf springs. You may also be able to get...

I was able to determine you will have 26" long leaf springs like our etrailer # e94SR leaf springs. You can dramatically improve your ride quality and upgrade to stronger springs by installing the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers # RM-2460-2570. You are going to need 26" long leaf springs. We have our Standard # e94SR or the Rust Resistant # e88SR springs you can select from. Both of these are the correct 26" length you need and have a weight capacity of 3,000lbs per spring. Be sure to replace all 4 of your springs so they work together and do not place excess weight on one of the axles due to having a slightly higher spring rate than the 5,200lb springs you currently use.
