Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.

Double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of this spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt. The other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs.

To mount this spring, you will need hangers, shackle straps, and suspension bolts. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer. You should, however, replace your shackle straps because they are usually the first component to wear out. You may choose to replace old suspension bolts as well. It is recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.

If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

The parts ordered came without issue and were exactly what I needed to repair my suspension issues. The assistance I received from Sarah was outstanding.

by:

The product themselves are quality however, the customer service and shipping is what was dissapointing. I originally ordered 4 items. I was told only one item was on backorder. Not a big deal. I checked a week later on the backorder and was told that they did not know when an item would come from the namufactuere. However, it was a different item from the first. So two items were not available and turned out to not be available. It was a lack of communication and I had to figure this out by calling after waiting a week and several misguided emails. Next was the packaging. It was all broken up and taped when I got it. Whoever packaged these items threw 4 heavy leaf springs and 2 sets of U-bolts into a box without securing them. They arrived but the two U-bolt packedges were previouly opened and sealed with masking tape and i'm missing all the nuts and lock washers from one package. The box could have come open during shipment but they were not secured inside the box at all, which led to the catstrophy inside the box. Due to all this, I will probably not order again from this site.

by:

I received my order on the time that was promised. A few days later I opened the packages and everything I ordered was there. One of the boxes looked bad but everything stayed and didn't fall out. I haven't installed them yet put soon will. I thank Kimberly for helping me get all of the correct parts that was needed to do the job.

by:

Couldn’t ship for 3 weeks and placed all together with other items completely destroyed during shipping with powder coat chipped off of other parts

This leaf spring was a exact replacement for the springs on my 2021 Grand Design Solitude 5th wheel. This was a replacement for one of a set of 4 I purchased. Check the eyes because they may have a flaw and may not be round. My thanks to TammyP who went out of her way to get the exchange together she was so helpful!

by:

Seem to be a direct replacement for my Bighorn 5th wheel, haven't been on the road yet. Paula was excellent in assisting me with the right (4) springs, u bolts, equalizer and wet bolt / shackle kit. Her personal assistance saved me time and frustration, much better than using just the item descriptions.

by:

The springs arrived very quickly and were just as described. I would highly reccomend these springs and etrailer.

by:

Very durable after one year of heavy use. Installed on a single axle trailer that is always loaded with 700 gallons of water and driven on rough terrain, no sign of sag or fatigue.

by:

I purchased this spring so we could have a backup in case of failure while on our road trip. The spring looks great, has no topical rust and arrived fast and very well packaged. After seeing it, I am planning on next season buying the other three to replace them all.

by:

The leaf spring is a quality item, it arrived 2 days after I ordered with very nice packaging. I ordered this to have a spare spring in case one breaks.

  • How to Pick Out Leaf Springs for 2003 Colorado 27RL Trailer
Axle spacing doesn't always guarantee an exact spring length since the equalizers could be different lengths too which would throw this off. What we need to do is first determine the axle capacity of your trailer. You can pretty easily check this by looking at the VIN plate on the trailer and the axle capacity will be listed there and then measuring the length of your springs when the axle doesn't have any weight on it from spring eye to spring eye. With those two pieces of info I can...

  • How to Tell When Travel Trailer Leaf Springs Need to be Replaced
A leaf spring should be replaced if it is badly rusted, has cracks or breaks in its leaves or if it is sagging. A 14-year-old travel trailer could certainly be in need of new leaf springs. The keys to selecting correct replacement leaf springs are to match your axle capacity, number of leaves and spring size. Most axles will have a plate or sticker that indicates the axle's weight rating. It is best to remove a spring from the suspension to check its eye-to-eye length. A spring that is...

The 9/16 inch measurement would be including the bushings already installed in spring # e64SR. The bushings can be removed but how easy they are to remove varies from spring to spring. But the bottom line is that you could get them out if you wanted or needed to. The diameter without the bushings is 11/16.

  • Replacement Leaf Springs For 2014 Keystone Alpine
Since the length of the spring is measured eye to eye, I believe you're saying that your current springs measure 24.78" eye center to eye center and the total length is 25.25". Because the # e64SR 6 Leaf Double-Eye Replacement Springs match that measurement and correspond with your axle capacity, you will be able to use those as replacement springs on your 2014 Keystone Alpine.

  • Recommended Clearance Between Tire and Trailer Frame Rail
The minimum distance between the inside of a tire and the frame rail depends a lot on the setup of the trailer. But as long as the tire and the frame don't touch you would be fine. It's hard to give an exact figure as trailer setups can vary and some trailers may have more side to side movement which would call for more clearance. If the suspension is good on the trailer and not worn out I would go with at least 1-1/2 inches to be on the safe side. Some might get by with 1 inch but I...

The spring will be attached directly to the hanger closest to the front of the trailer. The back of the spring will be connected to an equalizer which will then be attached to a hanger. If the equalizer is 6-1/4 inches long, center to center, and the mounting hole on it is in the center, it will be 3-1/8 inches beyond the center of the rear eye hole. So, if the spring is 27-1/4 inches from eye center to eye center, add 3-1/8 inches to get 30-3/8. I would then add a maximum of another inch...
