In order to make sure you get the correct replacement parts you will want to take a measurement or two. It would be best to measure the spring while the trailer is lifted and weight is taken off the spring. You need the eye-to-eye measurement to make sure you get the right length spring for your trailer.

It is recommended that new leaf springs should be installed on both sides of the trailer to make sure the suspension is equal and performs well.

The leaf double-eye leaf springs we offer for a 7,000 lb axle are part # e64SR. These are 6-leaf springs and have a center-of-eye=to-center-of-eye measurement of 24-7/8 inches.

You will also want to check the shackles, shackle bolts, and any other hardware that the suspension needs. I have attached some links to the suspension items we offer you may want to take a look at. If you have questions about a specific item just let me know and I can make some recommendations that will work for you.

Hi, Im looking at your SP-198275 Leaf Spring to replace a broken leaf spring on my tandem axle 20,000 lb trailer. My leaf springs are 25 1/2. If I change both sides on one axle will your 24-7/8 leaf springs work, or do I need to find 25 1/2 springs? Thanks

The 24-7/8" length of the 6-Leaf # SP-198275 might actually be pretty close to the length you need, since your existing springs have likely stretched out over time. My concern is that these are rated for 7,000 pound axles - and if you have a tandem axle 20K trailer, they're likely under-rated. Are your existing springs double-eye (eyelet on each side) or are they slipper springs (eye on one side, hook or open end on the other)?

Chris R, Thanks for the quick response. All 6 springs are 25 1/2”, double eye. I understand your comment about springs being undersized. I’ve felt this way since the first spring broke last year. I bought a 25 1/2” then. Probably should have replaced all 6 then. Thanks

No problem! So you mentioned that you actually have 6 springs - which would indicate you do have 3 axles (I was under the impression it was a tandem/2 axle trailer). The capacity makes a lot more sense now and 7K springs would be appropriate. My bad! The part # SP-198275 is the closest option we have to your existing setup, with their 24-7/8" length. If your existing springs were in fact 25-1/2" when you bought them though, they are likely a bit too short. This is the only double-eye set we have for 7K axles. If you went with the shorter unit you would likely need to modify your suspension setup (longer shackles, possibly move hangers, etc). Because of this I would try to locate 25-1/2" springs at a local trailer shop/dealer if at all possible.
