Perfect application to give my trailer a cpl more inches of lift. Prior to installing the longer hangers, the frame would rest on the axles of my trailer. Now with these longer replacement hangers, that no longer happens. Very satisfied customer.

Very good product, working well.

by:

I was rebuilding the suspension on one of my trailers and needed tbis hardware. It was shipped fast and with a little measuring and welding it was installed with ease.

by:

All items received as expected. In new condition. The etrailer website was easy to find what we needed and easy to click through.

etrailer packaging was great which contained the leaf springs. RedNeck Trailer packaging was good, but not as good as etrailer.

by:

The etrailer site was very informative. I didn't know exactly what I wanted because of the suspension I was upgrading. The site gave me the info to order the right items and they all worked very well.

by:

Couldn't figure out how I was going to fix an old trailer we've had for

  • Does Trailer Suspension 7-3/4 Inch Equalizer EQ-E1 Have a Weight Capacity
Equalizer # TREQE1 does not have a weight capacity itself. It isn't bearing much of the weight compared to other components in a trailer suspension set up. If you have a tandem axle trailer then you could potentially use kit # APT5, # APT3, # APT9, # APT8, # APT7, or # APT3HD. All of these kits have the 7-3/4 inch long equalizers. For a triple axle trailer you could use # APTT5 or # APTT3. All of the above kits also come with hangers. If you do not need hangers then you would need to...

  • Can the Center Spring Hanger Be Taller Than Front and Rear Spring Hangers On Magic Tilt Trailer
It is possible to have a center spring hanger that will be longer than the front and rear hangers. For an example I would have the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs, part # APT3HD. This kit has 2-1/2 inch tall front and rear hangers and a 5-7/16 inch tall center hanger. A longer center spring hanger is normally used in conjunction with an equalizer. The equalizers are designed to transfer the load from one axle to another when the trailer goes over a bump. I am including...

  • Tandem Axle Trailer Suspension Hanger Kit To Provide More Axle Clearance
It sounds as if your trailer suspension was built with the common Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, # APT3, and that the springs and attachment hardware are wearing out enough that with the weight you are carrying there is no longer enough room for the suspension to work without contacting the trailer frame. I would recommend stepping up to the Heavy Duty Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, # APT3HD, or the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, # AP233-H248. The # APT3HD kit comes with 2-1/2 inch...

  • Replacement Equalizer and Hanger Recommendation to Replace EQE1
For a kit that comes with the same size equalizer as the # TREQE1 that you have that also includes bushings, hangers, and a hanger bolt you'd want the # APT3HD. This also comes with shackles and everything else needed so you'd be set with just the one part number.

  • Raising Trailer Wheel Well Clearance
At the very least, you want to see at least 3 inches of clearance between the tire and the underside of the fender with the suspension at full load. With the goal of gaining height, best course is to go with taller spring hangers. Keep in mind that the amount by which you increase the height of the spring hangers won't necessarily be the amount the ride height increases, due to the fact that the suspension articulates. Replacing the front and rear hangers as well would be a great idea...

  • Can Trailer with Slipper Springs be Changed to Double Eye without Changing Hangers
You can swap to a double eye leaf spring setup on your trailer but you will need to basically remove and reinstall new hangers that were designed for this type of setup like with the # APT3HD. There MIGHT be a way to modify what you have but it's pretty hard to say what that would take and how well it would hold up.

  • Minimum Clearance Between Tires on Tandem Axle Trailer
It is possible that the 10K axles that were retro-fitted to your trailer also had larger diameter wheels/tires installed on them to take advantage of the new axles' higher weight capacity. The bare minimum tire spacing on a tandem axle trailer is 2-inches unloaded and 1-inch when loaded. It looks like your unloaded trailer has at best 1-inch spacing and this is not enough. You will need to either switch to smaller diameter wheels and/or tires (which may have a lower weight rating) or...

Spring hangers are only to be mounted with the base of the U facing the frame. We do offer an array of different kits for a tandem axle trailer listed below or you can also find the hangers individually. If you can offer me some measurements of your current hangers and what amount of rise or drop you are looking to achieve I can give you my recommendations. • Replacement Hanger Kit For a 10,000LB Tandem Axle Tilt Trailer With 2" and 5-1/2" Hanger Heights
The Hanger Kit # APT3HD is going to be the closest we have to your current hangers. This kit does have the same 2-1/2" front and rear hangers as the Kit # APT8 you found but it has the taller 5-7/16" center hangers which is very close to your current 5-1/2" hangers. This slight difference in hanger size will result in a slightly higher trailer height likely only around 1/4". The old springs likely have more sag than that depending on the age of the trailer.

  • Additional Suspension Parts to Add an Axle to a Tandem Axle Trailer
The first thing I need to tell you is that mobile home axles are designed for one-time use only by the manufacturers. Because of this replacement parts are nearly impossible to find. I would urge you to switch to regular axles so replacement parts are readily available. I have linked the axles we carry for you. The main problem you might run into when adding another axle is wheel scrubbing. When making turns its likely that the front axle tires will drag on the ground. Also to maintain...

  • Components Needed To Build Tandem-Axle Lawn Mower Trailer
You did not say what the expected weight is for the trailer and the lawn mowers with other items like trimmers, gas cans, etc, we can only estimate the size axles, and springs you would need. The highest capacity axles we offer are for 3,500 lbs and measure 89 inches hub face to hub face. That is a bit longer than the 7 ft you mentioned you wanted. You did not say if you planned on adding brakes to the trailer. If your loaded trailer weighs more than 50 percent of the vehicle you are...

  • Tandem Axle Trailer Spring Hanger Kit and 6K Leaf Springs
The hanger kit I recommend is part # APT3HD which includes front, center and rear hangers, equalizers and bolts. This kit is good for axles up to a 7K rating and most 3-inch diameter axles are rated for 6000 to 7200-lbs. The linked video will let you see the kit contents. Please note the kit does not include parts to mount the axle to the suspension; for that use # APUBR-8, one kit per axle. For double-eye leaf springs please refer to the linked page that displays all 6K rated springs...

  • Diameter of Center Hole in Equalizer in APT5 Tandem Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double Eye Springs
The equalizer that comes in the # APT5 Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit is part # TREQE1. This eqalizer has a 9/16 inch diameter center and end holes. The # TREQE34 equalizer comes in the hanger kit # APT3HD. The # TREQE34 does have a 3/4 inch diameter center hole and 9/16 diameter end holes. Two wet bolts are included in the # APT3HD kit for the 3/4 inch diameter center holes on the equalizers.

  • Why is Center Hanger Longer for Tandem Axle Trailer Hanger Kit
The center hangers in the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APT8 that you recently purchased are indeed longer. This is actually pretty common for tandem axle trailers. The reason for the extra length on the middle hanger is related to the shackle straps of the equalizer. You want this hanger to be a bit longer to compensate for how the shackle straps move the spring higher up. I have attached an image to better clarify this. It is possible for the shackle to flip like you described, but...

  • Recommended Hanger Spacing for 24-7/8 Inch Long Leaf Spring with APT4 or APT3HD Hanger Kit
Based on my research, when using the Universal Group Leaf Springs # SP-222275 that has a spring eye length of 24-7/8 inches with either the Redline Tandem Axle Hanger Kit # APT4 or # APT3HD, you will want a distance of 29-1/2 inches between the hangers on your trailer. Both hanger kits you referenced include everything needed to attach 4 leaf springs to your trailer frame. You will want to completely remove one of the double-eye leaf springs from your trailer suspension to measure its eye-to-eye length when it is not under any tension. Also, note that if it is very old and very worn the spring may have actually elongated slightly. Well-used leaf springs can stretch from use and it is not unusual to find a very worn spring is as much as 1/2-inch longer than when it was new. You may find that the new matching springs for your axle rating are a little shorter...

  • Determining The Correct Replacement Leaf Springs For Tandem Axle Trailer W/ Square Axles
I would be happy to help you find the correct replacement suspension components for your trailer, but you will need to take a few measurements first. Starting with the leaf springs, you will need to make sure that the tires on the side of the trailer you are working on is off the ground with the trailer supported by the frame as the leaf springs will stretch when the tires are on the ground and weight is applied. If your 26-1/2" measurement was with the tires off the ground the closest...

  • Tandem Axle Hanger Spacing for Double Eye Springs 25-1/2 Inches
For your double eye springs that are 25-1/2 inches, it is likely your hangers are 29-1/2 inches apart on center and your springs most likely were originally 25-1/4 inches as they will stretch slightly over time. For instance if you were to use 25-1/4 inch springs like # e34SR then you could use tandem axle trailer hanger kit # APT5 and use either spacing 29-1/2 inches on center for a good fit.

  • Why are Trailer Center Hangers of Tandem Axle Hanger Kits Longer
The longer hangers are the center hangers. The reason they are longer than the end hangers is because the shackle straps of the equalizer. It is somewhat hard to explain, but the longer center hanger is to compensate for how the shackle straps move the spring up higher. Check out the picture I attached for more info. Hopefully that explains it better. Leaf springs typically can only travel a few inches. So you won't gain much travel by going with longer hangers.

I recommend going with the Timbren Silent Ride system because it's an improved suspension system that uses the Timbren jounce style springs that have been proven to be some of the toughest springs on the market. There are 2 options you need to choose from depending on your axle spacing (center axle to center axle): - 33" Axle Spacing # TSR14KT01 - 35" Axle Spacing # TSR14K35T01 If you wanted to stick with a standard leaf spring suspension then you'll need to cut off your current hangers...
