Replacement Suspension Parts for Tandem Axle Stock Trailer

Question:

I am trying to rebuild my stock trailer and have found the trailer has 3 different size leaf spring lengths, 3 of them are 6 leaf and one is a 5 leaf. The equalizers are also 7 3/4 length as well. The axles I have narrowed down to 5200 lb axles. Would the ATP3HD kit work with 4 SP-222275? I need to replace everything but axles. Thank you.

You will want to completely remove one of the double-eye leaf springs from your trailer suspension to measure its eye-to-eye length when it is not under any tension. Also, note that if it is very old and very worn the spring may have actually elongated slightly. Well-used leaf springs can stretch from use and it is not unusual to find a very worn spring is as much as 1/2-inch longer than when it was new. You may find that the new matching springs for your axle rating are a little shorter than the ones you removed. This is perfectly normal.

For 5300-lb axles we offer 6-leaf spring # SP-222275 which measures 24-7/8-inches eye-to-eye. For a 5000-lb axle we offer 4-leaf spring # e28SR which measures 25-1/4-inches eye-to-eye.
Match both length and weight rating.

I linked for you our leaf spring page, our page for equalizers in your 7-3/4-inch size and our page for all other trailer suspension parts, including bushings, u-bolts and suspension bolts. I also included a helpful article that will help you choose the right parts. Kit # APT3HD will work if you also need new hangers.
