Our family has been in the classic car business since 1969.....I have chained a trailer hitch on the back bumper many times and headed out for California...very recently my sister bought a vending route along with a 1 ton van....she bought a new trailer hitch somewhere and wanted me to drill holes in the frame because it wasn't the correct one...I found etrailer online and called...the product was here overnight and Suz installed it herself!!.....I highly recommend etrailer..... thank Katie D!

1998 Ford Edge

Love the video. It was a great help in installing this hitch. Very easy to follow. Nice tip with the silicone adhesive to hold the washers in place. The receiver edge sits back under my bumper about 5 in. Unfortunately a little bit farther back than my previous hitch so I have to buy new ball mounts now. Would have been nice if the hitch had been designed to angle back to end up at the edge of the bumper. There are not very many ball mount options for where it sits.
But I found what I needed. The hitch is on and looks sturdy. And soon I'll be able to tow again once I receive the ball mounts from etrailer.com

1998 Ford Five Hundred

This hitch receiver works as it should. It came well finished, with clear instructions and all the hardware needed to install it. I had a question about possible clearance issues and called etrailer customer support. The tech was great and answered all of my questions. The hitch receiver fit great, no additional drilling was needed. I also was able to reinstall my spare tire under the van, which my older hitch receiver did not allow enough space for.

I have a step bumper on my 1998 Ford E350 van. I was going to use if for my hitch mounted tilt up, cargo carrier, with a 500 pound capacity. This hitch receiver sets back a couple inches too far from the step bumper and would not allow the cargo carrier to tilt up, unless I used a hitch extension. I used an 8" extension with a 5k tow and 500 pound tongue capacity. Using a hitch extension will decrease your load capacity. So, make sure the hitch extension is capable of handling the load you will be putting on it.

The Curt products I received are as described, high quality and were well packed. The hitch fits the 27-year-old vehicle. I was glad to have such a large range of products across different brands, and the prices were the best I found. The shipment of hitch receiver, ball mount, ball, etc., got here just a few days after I ordered it. I didn't expect such fast shipping. I will recommend etrailer.

I had an excellent experience with this company and will recommend it to anyone that requires a hitch and/or accessories. Thank you!

  • What Is The Width Of A Trailer Hitch Receiver For My 1998 Ford Expedition?
The hitch you have will not fit. The correct hitch for your 1998 Ford Expedition has a center to center hole measurement of 46-3/4" as shown in the diagram of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13049 that is designed for your vehicle. Since the hitch you have will not work I recommend going with the # C13049 due to it being made here in the USA, and having a durable powder coat finish which we have seen hold up better than the finish on other hitches. This hitch has a 600lb tongue weight...

  • Recommended Hitch for a 1991 Ford Econoline Grand Wagon
Yes, I would be happy to help you find a receiver hitch for your 1991 Ford Econoline Grand Wagon. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch item # 14053. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 10,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 1,000 lbs. This is a custom fit receiver that bolts directly onto your van without any welding. It does include hardware. I also recommend the Tekonsha 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with Circuit Tester item # 18252. This wiring kit comes with everything you need to add...

While the body style of the Ford vans has changed quite a bit over the years luckily the frame has stayed basically the exact same so the Curt hitch part # 14053 does fit Ford full size vans from 1975 through 2006. Here's complete list: 2004 - 2006 Ford Van E-150 2004 - 2006 Ford Van E-250 2004 - 2006 Ford Van E-350 1975 - 1994 Ford Van Full Size 1995 - 2003 Ford Van Full Size, including Superwagon

  • Distance Between Mounting Holes of the Curt Hitch 14053
I spoke with my contact at Curt and he informed me that the distance between the bolt holes centers on this Curt Class IV Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 14053, is 38-1/2 inches. You would need to compare that distance to the your frame rails to see if the mounting holes of this hitch would be compatible with your frame. If your outside to outside measurement is 42 inches this SHOULD work well, but I would still recommend measuring.

  • Recommended Hitch for Turtle Top Van Terra Built on 2000 E350
For what you are describing, I think the best option is to use the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Cross Tube, # 41990; this is a 2" receiver Class V hitch. this is to be welded in to place using either the 16" Weld-On Bracket Kit for Draw-Tite Class V Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch, # 4916 or, the 7" version, # 4907. This will provide you with a Class V hitch and multiple placement options best fit your needs. If I follow correctly your last statement of the...

  • Trunk Mounted Bike Rack for 2006 Pleasureway RV on Ford E350 Cutaway Chassis
As long as your bike weighs in at 35 lbs or less, the Hollywood Racks Gordo 2 bike carrier # HRG2 that you looked at would work well, as your motorhome retains the rear doors used on the van model. The rack will hold the bike tightly, and if properly adjusted the rack won't move on the vehicle. I've linked to a demonstration video featuring the rack. However, since you seem concerned about the rack being rock solid, a trailer hitch and hitch mounted rack would preform the best for you....

When it comes to installing a trailer hitch on your 42 inch wide minibus I recommend The Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22 inch to 72 inch Wide # 13703. The trailer hitch has a high-gloss black powder coat finish that resists rust, corrosion, and is resistant to scratches and UV damage. The hitch will fit a frame width between 22 inches to 72 inches, and the trailer hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight up to 3,500 pounds and has a maximum tongue weight of 350 pounds....

For a hitch confirmed as a fit for your 1997 Ford E-350 van we have the Curt Class IV hitch part # 14053 which would work well. It has a 10,000 lb trailer towing capacity and installs about as easy as you'll find. You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118344. • Length of Mounting Bracket for Mounting Curt Trailer Hitch to Motorhome on 2005 Ford E-350 Chassis
The length of the mounting brackets for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 14053 is 15-1/8" as you can see from the attached photo. Since the frame is extended past the regular body length it could very well affect the towing capacity of your motorhome so it would be wise to do some research on that and maybe reach out to the manufacturer as well to get their take on it. If you don't have bolt holes readily available that would work with the 14053 hitch then you may consider using something...

I spoke with my contact at Curt and he informed me that the distance between the bolt holes centers on this Curt Class IV Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 14053, is 38-1/2 inches. Did you measure from the center of the frame rails or from the center of the bolt holes on your 1986 Ford E-350 box truck? You may need to drill the holes if they aren't there, but this is designed to fit your E-350. If you'll be towing with this hitch, you'll also need trailer wiring.
