Recommended Class IV Hitch for 1991 Ford E-350

Question:

Im interested in the class IV trailer hitch for my 1991 Ford E350 van. My van was originally a handicap transport. The frame is 42 wide but does not have all the pre-drilled holes for attaching the hitch, and also has 2 protruding rivets on the spare tire cross support. Will I need a custom hitch and install? I can send pics and door tag if that helps.

There is a custom fit Class IV hitch for your 1991 Ford E-350 van with a 42" wide frame; you'll want to use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # 14053. You may need to drill the holes if they aren't there, but this is designed to fit your E-350.

If you'll be towing with this hitch, you'll also need trailer wiring. For that I recommend using the Tekonsha # 18252 which is a simple, splice in kit that will give you a 4 way wiring harness. To complete your towing setup I recommend using the etrailer 2-3/4" Rise or 4" Drop Ball Mount Kit - 7,500 lbs # EBMK4 since it gives you a ball mount, 2 hitch balls (1-7/8" and 2"), hitch pin, clip and storage bag; this should allow you to cover a few different trailer setups you might encounter.

I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to have a look at, as well.
