This is a beautiful hitch. I bought it to replace a different hitch on my car that hung down too low. This hitch is higher than my muffler so my clearance is excellent. It took me three hours to remove the old hitch and install the new one by myself. Five gallon buckets work excellently to hold up my muffler and to rest the new hitch on while installing.

Hitch arrived on date predicted by shipping information. Although one corner was protruding from box, there was no damage as the hitch is made of thick metal, powder coated and is tough. I immediately placed my 2019 Ford Edge on jack stands and followed the instructions. Using just hand tools (no fancy battery powered ratchet driver like in the video) the hitch was installed in just under an hour. Wife secured bicycle rack into hitch, put her bicycle on hitch and went riding.

Wonderful customer service. Lori B. answered all of my questions and addressed concerns I had. Received my order in 2 days! Had the hitch installed in less than an hour. Now I won’t have any trouble hauling my mower. Excellent quality and looks great! Would definitely recommend this company to anyone!

Fast shipping and high quality products. The installation was made simple with the online instructional video. I will buy from etrailer in the future.

Just finished the install of the Curt 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver on my 2016 Ford Edge. Overall install went very well but I'm convinced that the only reason was because of the excellent install video available through your website. I'd still be trying to figure out what to do if all I had was the install instructions that came with the hitch, they are terrible. Also glad you included the (4) fish wires instead of just the (2) shown in the video. Was able to install it by myself with the help of an extra short piece of rope to hold the hitch in place while installing the hardware.

Everything is good! The hitch still looks like brand new. No rust.

Great product at a great price. This is my forth hitch I bought from etrailer, always great service and fast delivery. Install directions are clear, straightforward, and detailed. Installation went as planned, took about 1 hour.

Great product. no issues, works as it should and looks good.

Easy to install, but the instructions were a little vague about trimming the rear bumper bezel. I have to remove it to make everything get together. Also, I would highly recommend that you discuss that the bolts/metal bar pieces being fed into the end of the frame - the best access point behind the bumper cover. I discovered that by some of the drawings, but it wasn't a confident way. it can be done that way. The hitch installed very easily, but the trimming of the bumper bezel (lower bumper) and the two side pieces took a little time. Yep, I would order it again. It took about 3 1/2 hours to install because I was cautious.

Product was delivered as promised and is a quality product. The installation was more than I wanted to do so my local mechanic installed in a couple of hours.

The hitch is really heavy duty. Arrived on schedule. Just purchased a new car so I needed a hitch to mount a bike rack on it to transport bikes to remote places.

hitch for the Ford Edge fit just fine. was a little tricky installing.
biggest surprise was the magic door that wanted to open and close ever time we tried to get a nut started on the hidden attach bolts.
Good product but requires patience to install.

by:
2015 FordEdge

well made, install wasn't as easy as advertised, for 2015 Ford Edge Sel, steps were left out about accessing the rear frame openings, the entire rear fascia, would need to be removed to do so, I cut the side holes larger to install the hardware, it fit well and happy w/ the overall finished product.

  • Best Roof Rack for a 2018 Ford Edge
Thanks for the additional information! I have a solution for you but the Kodiak K3 crossbars you have are obsolete and incompatible with current roof rack systems. I did some looking online and I wasn't able to find any replacement parts or information about whether or not the company had been bought out. You're going to need to replace your crossbars and upgrade to a newer system on your 2018 Ford Edge. The good news is most kayak carriers are compatible with all aero bars on the market....

  • Does Hands Free Liftgate of Ford Edge Still Work with Curt hitch C121402 Installed
You will still be able to activate the rear liftgate of your Ford Edge with the Curt hitch part # C12140 installed. If you check out the install video I attached you can see that our installer was able to still activate the liftgate with this foot. Fast forward to the 1:10 mark to see it. You'll notice he kicked just to the right of the hitch opening.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Ford Edge Sport and Bike Rack
I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 75234 for your 2018 Ford Edge Sport to carry your bike rack. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and is a fit for the Sport model of Edge. If your bike rack has a 1-1/4" shank then the trailer hitch you need is the Curt # C12140 which is also a fit for your '18 Edge Sport. The Curt is a Class II hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver and with this hitch Curt does recommend using Stabilizing Straps # 18050 with all accessories such as...

  • Recommended Hitch and 2-Bike Rack for 2016 Ford Edge Sport
For your 2016 Ford Edge Sport I recommend the 2-inch Class III hitch option over the 1-1/4-inch Class II since it will give you a better safety margin for handling the weight of your chosen bike rack and bikes. Plus a 2-inch hitch will be able to work with more accessory items, such as a cargo carrier like # C18151, in case that is ever in your future plans. Considering the small price difference, a Class III hitch like # 75234 is usually the better choice. In terms of appearance, the Draw-Tite...

  • University of Kentucky Hitch Cover that will Fit a 2015 Ford Edge
That's going to depend on the hitch you have on your 2015 Ford Edge. If you have a 2 inch hitch like the part # 75234 then a 2 inch Kentucky hitch cover like the part # AMG100222 would fit just fine as the holes of it will line up. If instead you had a 1-1/4 inch hitch like the part # C12140 you would need the 1-1/4 inch version of this cover, part # AMG102929.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch With 1-1/4 Inch Receiver for 2017 Ford Edge to Carry Bike Rack
We do carry a hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver for your 2017 Ford Edge. The Curt # C12140 is a Class II hitch that is a complete bolt-on installation that, according to the linked instructions, will take a professional mechanic just a half-hour to install. There are a couple notes to consider with this hitch - the hands-free Liftgate sensor on your Edge will be limited to areas away from the center of the hitch where the receiver is; it will still activate, just on the sides of the receiver....

Yes, we have three trailer hitch receiver options for your 2017 Ford Edge with the Sport package part # 75234, part # C13234, and part # C12140. I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13234 as this hitch will not require near as much effort to install in comparison to the similar Draw-Tite hitch receiver. It is a Class III hitch receiver with a 2" opening. This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your Ford Edge's frame with no welding required. Depending on...

  • Choosing a Kuat Bike Rack for Curt Trailer Hitch on a 2017 Ford Edge
I'd be happy to help you pick out a Kuat bike rack to go with your Curt 1-1/4" Hitch # C12140 on your 2017 Ford Edge! My personal favorite is the NV 2.0 Base # BA12B because of the Matte Black finish which gives it an aggressive look, plus it has all of the best features from the regular NV 2.0 bike rack (highest weight rating, easy-to-use features, and locks) minus the bike repair stand. • Best Hitch Size For Bike Rack on 2020 Ford Edge
It sounds like you are trying to decide between the Curt Class II Round Receiver hitch part # C12140 and the Class III Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13234. I recommend the Curt Class III 2" C13234 receiver because it is more versatile in the long run. There a lot more accessory options like bike racks and cargo carriers that fit a 2" receiver. If you decide to tow a small trailer in the future the 2" is a better option as well. If you need a bike rack, I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Ford Edge SE To Carry Bike Rack
The best choice for a trailer hitch for carrying a bike rack with your 2018 Ford Edge SE is the Draw Tite part # 75234 as it has the 2 inch hitch size you want, has plenty of weight capacity, and also is only option with a concealed crosstube which makes it less visible and helps with ground clearance. Your 2015 Ford Edge could be equipped with either a 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch like Curt # C12140 or a 2-inch Class III type like # 75234. You can check the safety sticker on the hitch to see its Class rating and its tongue weight (TW) capacity, or you can measure the receiver opening. An article on hitch sizes is linked. • Best 1-1/4" Hitch for 2017 Ford Edge
We only have one 1-1/4" hitch for the Ford Edge and that is the Curt Class II Trailer Hitch # C12140. It has a great ground clearance of 13". It is not a hidden hitch, and I attached a video of this hitch install if you want to see exactly how it looks on a vehicle. The selection is limited for 1-1/4" hitches for this vehicle because the 2017 Ford Edge is capable of carrying/towing loads heavier than Class 2 hitches can. • Best Hitch for 2017 Ford Edge SEL for Ground Clearance
I have a solution for you, but the class of the hitch does not necessarily effect the clearance and has more to do with the weight range of the trailer it can tow. If clearance is the main concern, I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13234 since it provides the best clearance with 13" from the top of the receiver to the ground.
