Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

So far the receiver has worked well without issues. Installation was easy with the provided parts and tools.

2007 Ford Edge

Great product install instruction were easy to follow and accurate.
The receiver hitch is the only thing that arrived. Not sure why that is. I do have a suspicious text indicating something about an address problem but because I don’t trust the text I’m leaving it alone for now. Maybe you can check on your end for the status of the remaining items

My 2007 is 5 years old and the rubber
hangers for the exhaust were not as easy to remove as in the video. Getting the right angle and a short prybar was the answer, but it took nearly an hour to get the three hangers loose. A combination of heat and road dirt was essentially a weld that had to be broken loose. Other than that, the installation was as simple as the video made it look. the bolt to the fascia support is a 7/32 and that created a small search mission. Have it handy before starting. Such a simple step shouldn't cause a delay. The wires provided for the feed of the 4 main support bolts worked great. The spring steel is just what is needed and the bolts slipped through the gap and right into place. Amazing. When installed, the hitch is almost invisible--only the receiver can be seen. The wife is very pleased. Even factory hitches create more of a visual presence than this hitch and that is what she desired. Here are pics of the job... I'm very pleased with the outcome. 29258

Between me and my ole man the installation took about an hour. Instructions were clear and was overall pretty straightforward. Great product, would buy again.

This was not my first ETrailer purchase. As always, everything is as it should be. I'm a fan.

The product is very well made and is a perfect fit. Need two people for installation. Access to mounting position is not easy but that is not the fault of the product. Very satisfied with material and workmanship.

2014 Lincoln MKX

I just love my new etrailer Hitch, for my protection I put a chrome and rubber removeable bumper. I can also put my bike rack into it or anything else I might have to trail. My Mechanic installed it for me for $80.00 , it added even more class to my hot Lincoln MKX.

Worked well, but having 2 people install it is way easier. used a 1/2 drill bit to drill out the back 2 holes after bolting it in place. took a little longer but was way easier then marking holes and drilling. didn't lower the exhaust all the way. and if you forget the heat shields just loosen the receiver and they slide in between. Overall good item and fast shipping.

by:

It was very easy to install! As a female, I pride myself on the ability to do a lot of things on my own, and this was another project I checked off of my list! I was able to install it in no time, all you need is the right tools.

I was very pleased with the purchase of the trailer hitch and wiring kit for my 2012 Lincoln MKX. My son and I instaled the hitch and wiring kit. The directions were easy to follow and we had no problems. The product was of high quality in materials and construction. I would highly recommend your company to anyone who is looking for hitch and wiring kit.

2011 Ford Escape

I purchased the hidden hitch (87433) and Curt T-Connector (C56160) for my 2010 Ford Edge limited. The products came packaged conveniently together and on time.

The videos were invaluable to my successful installation of the components. Without them, I would have relied on trial and error to install the wiring harness. The video for the hitch was helpful, but installation can easily be completed using just the printed instructions that came with the hitch. I watched the video for the wiring harness, completed on a 2011 Ford Escape. There is another wiring harness (T-One) that etrailer provides a video for a 2010 edge that I used also. This was helpful in finding routing locations for wires.

I deviated from the video in a few ways. First, I routed the 4-pole connector through a rubber grommet under the spare tire leading to the under-carriage. This places the connector directly between the dual exhaust, away from heat, and in close proximity to the hitch. Next, I routed the passenger side wiring harness through the rear body panel, under the lift gate threshold to the passenger side trim panel.

The whole process took me about four hours. Most of the time was spent routing wires so they were out of sight.

Side note: there are only four recommended lift points on a Ford Edge and they are pinch weld areas near the tires. I lifted the rear of the vehicle with a floor jack at the rear cross section of the sub frame. The front was less conspicuous, so I went with the pinch weld area near the front driver's side and used a jack stand as a safety measure.

was excellent fit. Installation was easy provided You have half a brain to realize you do need tools. Double thumbs up!

2014 Ford Edge

I purchased the Draw-Tite hitch for my 2014 Ford Edge SEL, don't plan to tow much but wanted the flexibility to use receiver hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and luggage storage. Choose the slightly more expensive Draw-Tite to avoid as much "modification" as necessary to my car. The instructions were good, needed to review the website pdf file once since they had just a little more detail than the paper copy provided with the hitch. The paper instructions made no mention of the need to drill the hole for the third hitch to frame bolt on each side (photos show hitch dry fit with undrilled hole location on each side). Install time was right on, took me just over an hour of work. Definitely easier to do this when the car is new and the exhaust rubber isolators are more flexible and the underside is clean. In addition to the small trimming of the heat shields as described by the instructions I had to make one small alteration to each heat shield to ensure the hitch to frame mounting bolts would clear the shields once installed. Routing the hitch to frame bolts and spacers through the frame with the supplied guide wires is more art than science and that is what took the majority of the install time. Completed all the work without lifting the vehicle (no rack or jack, photo shows exhaust supported with 2x4 blocks) and am very happy with the look and functionality.

@Cameron We're glad your Draw-Tite # 75992 hitch is working well for you!

by:

Can't afford a new truck at the moment so a trailer hitch and uhaul trailer rental will be my "truck bed" for building materials. I don't have access to a car lift so I did as others said by not bothering to lower the muffler. I just slid the hitch between the bumper and the muffler with a little bit of force, the bumper will pop back into place. If you are going to do it this way I'd recommend putting the nuts on the bolts first so they don't get pushed up into the frame of the car. The muffler holds the hitch in place while you take off the nuts and get everything lined up. Also the box that the hitch was shipped in makes a great mat to lay on while you do this in your driveway. Definitely would buy this again.

by:

I like the look and easy installation. This is my second trail hitch and I have never had any issues with them.

I tried ordering this hitch through [online] and each time they sent the items for different vehicles but not for mine. It was at a lower price but what a pain.

If installing itself get someone to help you. My instructions came in three different languages but not in English?

"Thank goodness for [online]".

2014 Ford Edge

I received the Draw-Tite Hitch very timely like always from etrailer. I have installed many hitches in the past on all of our vehicles. This wins the trophy as the simplest hitch to install ever. It took right at an hour to install and looks great. The only part you can see is the actual receiver part. No trimming of body work needed. Very nice clean look. I highly recommend the #75992 hitch for a 2014 Ford Edge.

This is the third trailer hitch receiver
and wire harness I bought from you guys. This time I installed on a 2011 ford explorer. All the tools needed for the installation were included. The hitch receiver fit perfectly and looks great, I have some pictures attached.

by:
2013 Lincoln MKX

The etrailer install videos gave me the confidence to tackle this job. I used ramps to give me more room to work, and I actually enjoyed installing it. It took me an hour and a half. You will need an extra set of hands to get the receiver onto the frame, and be careful not to accidentally push the bolts back up into the frame while you're doing this.

On this car, my dirt bike carrier sits nice and low, so loading and unloading is way more easy than if I use my truck.

by:

Excellent Fit and finish. Took about 20 min to bolt up to frame with hand tools. Fit perfectly. Install kit makes this a breeze to install.

E-Trailer gives great customer service and keeps you apprised of order status all along the way.

Would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone.

by:

The installation was very easy, I’m not a great with cars but the included videos made the work very smooth. I did not lower the muffler and was able to mount the hitch with a bit of force. Great customer service too!!

by:

This was one of the easiest DIY installations. Everything explained on the video was exactly how it goes. The instructions calls for a 55 minute install but only took 35 minutes for me. Super easy to DIY (do it yourself) in case you’re wondering if you can tackle this job. Everything fits perfect! I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Thank you etrailer for an awesome product!

  • Is There Drilling Required to Install Trailer Hitch on 2011 Ford Edge
Actually the hitch part number you mentioned of 87604 is no longer available but for a similar hitch made by the same company we have the Draw Tite # 75992 which would fit and work well. It does have drilling listed as a requirement as all of the current hitch fits for your 2011 Ford Edge require.
