For your 2010 Ford Edge SEL 2WD I highly recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75992 because of its hidden design. This particular Class III hitch, which is confirmed to fit your Edge SEL, features a drop-down 2" receiver that allows the crosstube to be completely hidden behind the bumper. This means only the receiver itself will be visible, which not only creates a sleek factory-like appearance but also helps provide better ground clearance for your ball mount and trailer connection.
The hitch itself has a robust 4,000 pound towing weight capacity, which is more than enough for any trailer weight that your Ford Edge can safely handle.
I have attached a couple images of the hitch installed on your model Edge so you can see exactly how it will look. A full install video has also been attached below that you can use for reference.
In order to tow a trailer you will also need to add a wiring harness. For this the Tekonsha T-One # 118551 will work perfectly. It's custom designed for your vehicle and will plug into existing ports behind the driver and passenger side tail lights. Once those connections are made you will run the hot lead up to the vehicle's battery for power and you will have a fully functional 4-Way connector to power a trailer's basic signal lights.
I have again attached the written installation instructions that you can look through as well.
Lastly you will need a ball mount and hitch ball if you don't have them already. I have attached a great article below that explains how to choose the best one for your particular setup, along with a link that will take you to our complete selection.
