Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Hitch receiver installation was pretty straightforward. It took me about a hour, since I didn't have a extra pair of hands. Used a floor jack to hold it up while I tightened up that bad boy. Looks like it is quality material at a good price. Box was pretty mangled up by delivery company, but hitch was packed pretty good.

by:

Ordered from Amazon & got wrong one 3 times wasting over 3 weeks & much hassle. Got this one in a few days, packaged so much better & was actually cheaper. Plus they got it right the 1st time.

by:

Not really sure if two stars is appropriate, I'll let the reader determine that.
My 2" Curt Hitch And 2" Curt C45534 receiver took 45 minutes of grinding in order to fit.
The main problem was a misalignment of the two pieces at the end of the hitch receiver. Doesn't seem right for a new product.
Other than that, instructions were clear and supplies were appropriate for a slightly involved install.

Sometimes it is true that powder coat paint build-up needs filing in order to piece together your hitch and the ball mount item # C45534 that you ordered, correctly. Since you already filed, my suggestion would be to cover it in anti-corrosive paint and lubricate when using the accessory.

by:

Very solid and relatively easy install. The install was a little more challenging than the installation video due to the location of the tailpipe right below the location of the three right hand bolts. It was pretty tough moving the tailpipe aside and down to allow a torque wrench to access and tighten the bolts. Very pleased with the look and quality. Staff was excellent and responsive.

Still love it. Very solid.

by:

Fantastic! The hitch was shipped to me only two days after ordering (the extra shipping cost is worth it). I installed the hitch within half an hour, on my own. Although the instructions ask for the exhaust to be dislodged, my 2008 trail teams exhaust setup wasn't in the way, and that disassembly wasn't required. This hitch allowed me to reach my goal of bare minimal hitch display - very low key! All in all, I'm impressed by the quality of service and product. I would recommend it to anyone.

2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

I'm loving my Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver. Great price, super fast shipping ( 3-4 days) excellent quality. Looks great on my 2007 FJ. I did have this professionally installed by my long time mechanic and I do have an aftermarket Warrior steel bumper. Installation did require the bumper to be loosened and some shims taken out for proper installation. It was no big deal for my mechanic and this receiver is solid as can be.

by:
2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

First thing to do is move the tailpipe outward with a racket strap attached to the rear passenger tire rim. Second chase the frame nuts with a M12-1.25 tap. This eased the 15 minute install. Yes I said 15 minutes !! Perfect fit and look. I’m very pleased.
Last month we purchased a 13.5 btu A/C unit for our RV. That install was just as simple but took a few hours. I strongly recommend NOT cutting the shroud to fit the control box. Instead use some planning and brains a it can be mounted in the intake plenum just like the factory mounting. This way you don’t compromise the air tight shroud.

Great product, easy to install on my 2010 FJ Cruser Toyota. I didn,t have the fancy lift or the impact wrench that was in the video. It really only took 3.5 hr. in my driveway, including the wiring harness! All so it was nice to talk with people at E-trailer, they have a clue.No they are not paying me to write this!

2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser

We installed this on our 2013 FJ Cruiser, it looks good and was easy to install. I bought this hitch as an alternative to buying the OEM Toyota hitch because it doesn't require taking your bumper cover off to install it, adds structure to the area where it's installed, and it doesn't take anymore from your vehicle's ground clearance than the exhaust tip or recovery loop does.

Good comment. Touches on all my concerns... bumper cover work needed for OEM, and ground clearance. The bumper probably provides all the structural reinforcement needed but still a good point. Thanks.

I ordered the hitch using the free shipping option (the slowest) and it showed up the next day! Took me a little while to install since I did it outside in about 20 degree weather in Chicago, but everything lined up great and it looks awesome. Thanks!

2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser

I have a 2014 fj cruiser. I bought the front and rear hitch and an aluminum basket from e trailer. The quality of all 3 products is excellent but the front hitch is a real problem to install on this year truck. You have to cut off two bolts and struggle with attempting to get it on. Finally gave up and took it to my mechanic. Had to drill out the holes to get it on the one side. ........overall I’m happy because all the parts I got were heavy duty well made but don’t kid yourself on self installing the front hitch You have to cut off bolts, need a cheater bar to break the existing nuts and then good luck!! Call your mechanic for this one!

by:
2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Wanted to upgrade the stock hitch on my FJ mostly because the throat on the stock hitch was shallow and my bike rack did not feel as secure as in the receiver of my other vehicle. This hitch is perfect and much sturdier. Install was easy and took less than an hour. This is my third hitch from etrailer and every transaction has been fantastic. Good prices, fast shipping and quality products... thanks!

by:
2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Great hitch but be forewarned. If you have aftermarket bumper it may not fit without mods on both bumper and hitch. I have a road armor rear bumper that overhangs the frame but just a quarter inch. That overhang had to be ground off. Then there is an angle bracket that goes diagonal to the hitch. Had to cut some of hitch away to make that fit. What was to be a thirty minute job has turned into a 4+ hour job of cutting and grinding. But that is not the hitch fault.

Packaging is great delivery is great. Product is heavy so have two people working under vehicle to install

by:

Trailer hitch was installed by my local mechanic. Apparently the wiring harness was a bit tricky. The hitch looks great on the car. I have not used the hitch yet. Hope to try the hitch out in a week or so. Thanks, John

by:

As always etrailer nailed it.

Fit
my 2010 FJ perfectly, easy install, has seen heavy usage hauling motorcycles to the woods/track and nary a peep out of it.

Can't beat etrailer price, quality or service.

by:

Found the process to install hitch very straightforward. Most difficulty was encountered in removing the vehicle tie down attachment, which uses the same holes to mount the hitch. The bolts were extremely tight and lacking an impact wrench, the box end wrench used needed to be hammered to loosen bolts.
The wiring was a bit more difficult. Clarity of instructions were not what they should have been. It was in the end doable, but required multiple readings and having a bit of mechanical know how.

by:
2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Ordered hitch and wiring for a 2008 FJ.
Easy process ... great price. (Saved over half of what the dealers quoted.)
Excellent communication, support, and follow-through!
A+ for customer service.
The instructional videos were extremely helpful, too.
Not sure how many hitches I'll buy in my lifetime, but e-trailer has earned my business.

by:

The Hitch Receiver is just what the Dr. ordered. The hardware and quality fit and finish are very nice. The video "How To " etrailer.com provides on the website sealed the deal for me and the price match policy is icing on the cake.

by:
Toyota FJ Cruiser

Etrailer staff was very helpful and delivery was as promised. The receiver bolted up to my Toota FJ Cruiser frame without a problem. The wiring harness waseasy to install with excellent instructions, and it works.

by:
Toyota FJ Cruiser

Everything was top notch except the paint job. The fit up was perfect (a little tight because I had the FJ undercoated first), was able to install myself (using a manual transmission Jack), and it looks great (compared to the Toyota OEM and U-Haul hitches) as the only visible part is the 2x2 post/neck. I plan on repainting the neck and undercoating the rest...

by:
2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Excellent . I installed the hitch myself (yes a girl) with a little help from a jack. Only issue was the muffler irons sits directly under the passenger side frame where the three bolts mount. Had trouble with the last bolt not torquing in correctly, but not the fault of the hitch..All responsibility goes to Toyota's frame department.

by:

Wow! what a great company. Not only was the price fantastic and the shipping fast, the product was beyond expectation. My friends who were helping me put this on were also impressed. Also, After I received the package I realized that didn't need the wiring. I called customer service and was handled quickly and professionally. I would recommend ETrailer to anyone. Thank you!

  • Will Draw Tite Hitch 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser Allow Cargo Carrier to Fit with Spare
When we installed the Draw Tite hitch part # 75461 on a similar 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser we found that it measured 8-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the furthest point out on the rear spare. What you will need to do on your luggage rack is measure from it's hitch pin hole center out to the nearest upright portion of the rack that would potentially interfere with the spare. If that dimension is greater than 8-1/2 inches it would fit with the hitch.
