To know if you'll be able to clear the Let's Go Aero BossHog, part # H01472, with the rear door of the 2012 FJ Cruiser, you'll need to measure the length of the rear door and how far off the hitch the door sits. The primary contact point you'll want to worry about is the sides of the carrier, which are 7 inches tall. You'll want to measure from the bottom of the door to the top of your trailer hitch. If you have more than 7 inches, you'll clear the carrier easily and then also know how much space you'll have above the side of the carrier for cargo and still be able to open the door.

If you don't have a hitch installed already, I recommend the Draw Tite Class III, part # 75461. This is a solid hitch that will give you a versatile range of options for your FJ Cruiser. If you want to pre measure the clearance with this hitch, the top of the carrier will sit about 26 inches off the ground.

If you don't have full clearance, you'll have partial access. You can find out how much by measuring 35 inches off the back of your hitch pin hole and opening the door, and seeing where the farthest part of the door crosses that line. This will be approximately the amount of opening you have when the carrier is loaded.
