Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Finally a company that asks for a "Honest" review a year after you owned the product or got the service. This trailer hitch receiver is exactly what I was looking for. The quality and shipping of the product gets 5 stars. Solid metal was used with quality welded seams. I would recommend this products and company to friends.

1998 Chevrolet Astro

I was really impressed on how it fit in perfectly with the bumper supports. The quality is great. My Chevy Astro van barely hit 160,000 miles. I just wish I had bought it when I bought the van when it barely had 110,000miles, I really needed it when I had to move an haul things. I'm really happy that I at least have it now for the rest of my van's life. and this van can do 3 turn in it's life so I'll be enjoying it for sure. I' be posting it on my you Tube Videos now I'm excited. You can use this anywhere from a custom BBQ'r, bike rack, bike trailer, trailer, and camping trailer the options are endless..

I must say, after 1 year of having my etrailer hitch it has been an amazing experience. I never owned myself a hitch and had no reason to either but, since I now have a Suzuki GSXR 750, I wanted to take it with me to different states and place. It is solid and and it make hauling easier. Great price and if I had a different vehicle I would order and other one, if it didnt have it. Thank you for all your help. My YouTube Channel will soon have a video about it as well. in the near future. https:www.youtube.comchannelUCL8jOpGW_isATv5lFLZ7c3w

1999 GMC Safari

I would like to tell you about my experience with etrailer.com. I am a return customer because I always find what I need at reasonable prices, quick and inexpensive shipping charges. I ordered this hitch for a 1999 GMC Safari to replace a rusted out hitch. This hitch is so much stronger. It is very well made. I highly recommend etrailer.com. I feel they are a very good company to deal with because I get personal service which is uncommon these days.

by:

Fit like a glove. Easy to install. Had to lower and take off spare tire to install. Everything fits as it should. Will buy and recommend Draw-Tite from now on.

The draw tite hitch and bike rack this past year has performed well. Two trips to south Florida and a trip to San Diego, CA. Total of 5,500 miles.

by:

great hitch- great company--- was mad that the delivery demons beat up the box and ate some of bolts and nuts...yummy (fell out).... called company they immediately replaced all bolts ... the hitch itself is solid and pretty easy install especially over one of them universal ones from another company-- who advertise high towing capacity and send out lower capacity.. it was cheap for a reason..
highly recommend the company and what they have...
yes- the demons did their thing- but a good company makes it right- Thanks E-trailer

I was happy to find the same type hitch I have on my other Astro/ Safari vans that have bumper mounts as well. It bolted right up with the supplied hardware in about 45 minutes, and I only had to ream out one hole a little to get a bolt to line up. Nicely made hitch.

Im a Fishing Guide and literally always have a boat connected to this Van and use it often. Never had a problem with this hitch. Every thing is good!

by:

Very good fit. Looks great you can't see the main tube just the receiver. Easy to install. Instructions say you have to move the spare tire into the vehicle but it fit along with the hitch.

Excellent quality, easy to install, and very happy with our purchase. No hidden surprises! Well worth the price. Satisfied customer!

by:
2005 Chevrolet Astro

The hitch fit surprisingly well. Didn't have to drill out any mount holes or anything. It also cleared the spare tire easily. It's well made and tucks up to the bumper tight without sticking out too far. Spend the extra few dollars on this one. It's the only one I could find that stated would clear the spare tire. Well worth it.

Hitch still working well. Has towed everything just fine. Will definitively be ordering from etrailer again!

by:

I will not order from etrailer again! My trailer hitch arrived in a damaged box and when I open the box the hitch paint was chipped and the mounting hardware was missing. It must to have fallen out of one of the holes of the damaged box it was shipped in. The most disappointing thing is the response from customer service. The options that they gave to me was to be giving $XX.00 to buy paint and paint the damaged area. Basically asking me to fix something that I paid for. Absurd!!!! Or they would ship me another trailer hitch which is not an option because of time constraints. Then she goes on to tell me that etrailer has no control over shipping once it leaves their facility but it is etrailers responsibility because they pay the shipping companies to deliver a product that is not damaged. I thought my experience would good because etrailer was highly recommended by a personal friend of mine that has an RV repair shop that orders from e trailer. Unfortunately it was not.

by:

The hitch came way faster than I expected, and was exactly as they described. It fit perfectly on my van. My 13 year old son and I installed it in a couple hours. I will definitely recommend etrailer to all my friends.

It works great, and was an easy install. Im very happy

by:

My receiver/hitch was everything one could hope for. It appeared to be a perfect match to my van (hole alignments, etc.) and installation would have been a snap had my frame not been distorted by the damage a tow truck operator did when he TORE OFF my last receiver. So, several of the bolt holes, threads, etc. were a mess, and I could only get in a couple of bolts per side -- NO fault of your product. I used the hitch like that for a couple of emergency trailer tows, but it made me very nervous, so I ended up welding the bejeepers out of it to the van frame. Works great and safe too. Note: since the product is heavy duty, the biggest hassle is lifting it into position. A helper, or some kind of jacks are almost essential, especially if you have hole alignment issues like I did. In most cases, it would be a lot easier than it was for me. Nice product -- thanks!

2017 Chevrolet Astro

At the outset of this review I'd like to point out that I'm willing to take the time
to write this one year after I purchased and installed my trailer hitch.

All went well with the ordering and shipping and I recall nothing in those regards
that would keep me from ordering again or recommending etrailer.com to
someone else.

Upon receipt of hitch I was initially struck with the thought that I may have bitten
off more then I could chew, but, after a call to etrailer.com support and their
providing some helpful tips I was able to apply a little ingenuity and install my
hitch.

I installed the hitch on, in March of 2017, a 1998 Chevy Astro Van, which, of
course, had a wee bit of rust on the frame's pre-treaded attachment points.
Locally I purchased a tread tap and chased all the treads before installation.
Also needed to apply some force using a scissor jack between the hitch's attachment
arms to spread them to facilitate alignment with the frame's bolt holes.

by:

Very happy with the product and the service. Ordering online was easy and helpful. I got to read about the product and was ensured it was the right part for my vehicle. I was really surprised at how fast it was delivered. This was my first time buying anything from etrailer but it won't be my last!

The trailer hitch has been working flawless after a year of usage. Still a satisfied customer.

by:
1999 Chevrolet Astro

The hitch fit my astro van as described. The product was delivered quickly and in great shape. They place the bolts inside the shaft so they will not get lost. Can't think of a reason why you wouldn't want to use etrailer.
P.S. You do not need to widen holes (drill) on this hitch unless you have a frame problem. Recommend you put in as many bolts as you can (loosely). Then you start rocking the hitch until you the remaining bolts screwed in. It took a while, but no drilling. Also, this hitch does use the two welded nuts on the main frame. It will be as strong as the vehicle is. Thanks eTrailer.

by:

So far it looks great! Took about an hour to install and it fits like a glove.
I placed my order, received a confirmation and in a few short days had my equipment delivered to my house. It can't get easier than that. Thanks e-trailer!

Working like a charm! I was hesitant to install a hitch on my van because of weight issues but it all worked out. Best decision Ive made for the van and for the business. Thanks!

by:
2001 Chevrolet Astro

VERY quickly shipped. Arrived safe and sound. Took about 4 hours to install on my 2001 Chevy Astro as I had to re-tap the rusty holes, cut down the dry rotted & rusty spare, and make a trip to the hardware store as a couple of the welded nuts on inside of the frame rail had rusted away and needed replaced. You CAN install the hitch with the spare, mine was just rusted away and was of no use. Draw-Tite makes a quality unit. etrailer is a quality company. Support smaller businesses at all costs everyone!

by:

The hitch arrived in good time and was installed fairly easily. The hitch itself appears well made. Good welds, nice finish and heft enough for the job intended. I have a 2005 Chevy Astro Van and had inquired which hitch would be easiest to install and this Draw-Tite was recommended. I'm a 64 year old female working alone on this project so it took a bit of fussing to suspend the hitch high enough that I didn't need to hold its full weight in place while bolting it in but having done that (using some spare webbing and securing to some eye hooks I have on the roof of the van) the bolt holes lined up beautifully and the bolts provided were all the appropriate size and fit well. I took the added precaution of testing the bolts and lubricating them so as to install easier as I knew the bolt holes/nuts on the van were no doubt a bit gunky. A few sprays of WD-40 cleared the holes of debris and allowed the bolts to turn more easily. If I can install this I'm pretty sure just about anyone that can manage a wrench can do it (this is said with confidence for the 2005 Astro I can't speak for other vehicles of course).

1999 Chevrolet Astro

I ordered hitch as a gift for my sister and brother in law for their Chevy Astro van. I received it within 3 days, it fit perfectly, and has been perfect for towing a small utility trailer although it could be used for heavier trailers. I have since made other purchases from etrailer and have been completely satisfied each time.

by:

Could not believe how easy this hitch was to install. Right out of the box, this hitch was installed in less than an hour by my son and I. Removed the four (4) bumper bolts and slid hitch through the bumper brackets from rear axle. Fit perfectly. We had to chase threads on frame nuts (remove the road crud). Product was delivered in just a few days from order date.

by:

Best decision I made in a long time. Inwas having to rent trucks and what not. I bought my own trailer shortly after I ordered this hitch.

by:

Great Product and construction. Easy do it yourself installation. The only improvement is that I would have steel rings and not flat plate to attach Chain too. It is difficult to get the hook closure to close because of that flat design.

  • What do the Two Sets of Hitch Weight Capacities Mean, Weight Carry and Weight Distributing
The Draw-Tite 75122 will fit your 2001 GMC Safari. The different weight ratings are provided in the event that a weight distribution system is needed. The hitch, when used with a standard ball mount and ball, has a 5,000 pound gross towing weight with a tongue capacity of 500 pounds. This is called the weight carrying capacity as the hitch is bearing all of the load by itself. A weight distribution system goes into the hitch and uses a set of spring bars to apply tension and spread the...
