Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Great towing hitch. Very easy to install even the brackets for the chassis. I also installed preowned wiring harness. (See picture)

2005 Mercedes-Benz ml500

Very simple to install! I’ve installed this on my ‘05 Mercedes ML500 to toe my New 20’ travel trailer. The hitch & all other components arrived on time, the instructional video was Very helpful! I was also able to, carefully, cut the center cover plate from the bumper & put it back on after the hitch instal to make my SUV look like it was professionally installed! I’m Very Happy!!

Still as solid as the SUV it’s attathed to!

Excellent hitch I use to pull my race car & trailer (3940lbs). Not a difficult install at all. Lots of room to work under the ML320. No issues.

Awesome service! Excellent instruction (video)! Super-timely delivery!

I can't say enough about this company and its service as it relates to my trailer hitch purchase and installation., but I'm going to try:

When I started looking for a hitch trailer for my vehicle, I came upon their instructional video - which very clearly explained, and demonstrated how to install their hitch on my vehicle. This video made me want to buy their hitch instantly - because everything was laid out so clearly.

Then, as soon as I called them up (no waiting) I was able to speak to a representative and ask them questions about the hitch. They were super friendly and helpful. Needless to say, I ordered the hitch.

Then, as soon as I ordered, I got an email telling me that they had shipped my item - and just a couple of days later, I got it in the mail. I was surprised by how soon I'd received it!

Because the video was so clear about the installation, I actually went ahead and installed it the day after I got it - and it all worked out exactly the way they described it!

After the fact, I even asked if they had a hitch for another vehicle that I have.

I'm usually very wary of providing reviews, and am certainly skeptical of "excellent" reviews from people on line, but they really did such a good job, I thought it only right for me to recognize in public.

Keep up the great work, guys!

(I'm sharing pictures omy installation. Enjoy!)

by:

It took a little long for the order to ship but after that it was all good. The hitch is fitting well. The installation requires the bumper to be removed, but it was actually pretty simple.

The trailer hitch has been the best to me here is a picture of it in use.

by:
2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Great product. Appreciated the added bracing to the frame and bumper. Good instructions. Old and slow so it took a bit of time. Everything fit perfectly, all parts included. Took it on a test run with my trailer and very happy with the results.

by:

I bought two of these for W163 1998-2005 M-Class - a 1999 ML320 and 2005 ML350 Special Edition. The hitch was a super quick, simple install on both vehicles, and I cannot tell you how convenient my life is having an AWD SUV with a hitch lol BUT both of my MLs had the factory side frame support bracket things installed. Also, if you have a 2003 ML320, this product will work for you, too. All W163 are the same - the ML320 to ML350 changeover happened mid-year 2003.

by:

This hitch system is high quality. From the beefy hitch and renforcement brackets, down to the nuts and bolts. Installation was a breeze, especially after watching the well-made install videos for both the hitch and the 4-pole wiring circuit assembly. I recommend this product.

I have a 99 ml430. Install was easy and straightforward. No trimming necessary on my rear bumper cover.

Put on my motorcycle carrier and motorcycle which is around 340lbs + carrier. Just did a 40 mile commute to the dealership through windy back roads and had no issues.

Thanks for the fast shipping!

Mercedes-Benz

Installed hitch on my 2003 ML350. Took about 10min to take off entire rear bumper and then another 15min to install hitch and supports. All holes lined up perfectly. I also installed lighting package....need to get brake package adapter.

I have used the hitched on a small one ton single axle trailer from OBX back to Northern VA...not a single issue. Etrailer has done right by me.

I have even had some Mercedes Techs ask about the hitch....this is a great option for those classic MLs.

by:
2003 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Fast delivery!
Fits like a glove, easy
installation. Got it installed including electrics within 2.5 hrs - without a lift! I even didn’t need to take off the spare tire. Perfect fit, easy installation, good price. The only minus - it’s made in China, however, even apple juice comes nowadays from China, so it does not matter.

by:
2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

I approached this installation with some trepidation on our elderly 2001 ML320 with Michigan rust. The video was extremely helpful. Amazingly, the threaded holes for attaching the actual hitch portion were in great shape - little, if any, rust. Getting the bumper cover off required loosening four extremely rusty bolts, but with penetrating oil, a little knocking and a bit of effort all four disengaged. I did not install the side brackets as I will just be using this for a relatively lightweight bike rack. Pricing was better than some competitors products that did not include these extra side brackets, though.

by:

Thank you and thank you for your Excellent customer service. Video training is excellent.

Mercedes-Benz

Installed this by myself on 1998 Mercedes ML 350 without a hitch. um, no ball that is.
Easy install in under an hour. All necessary parts were included with instructions.
It works perfectly for my bicycle rack.
Also, a nicely located footrest for putting on waders etc.
I'm happy with the resulting aesthetic and like having the frame reinforcement.
etrailer purchase was a perfectly executed transaction without issue.

by:
2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

On my ml320, the hitch went on smooth, it does stick out a bit, so I painted it white to match the car. The wiring was a little more tricky as you have to find the correct wires to tap into, but instead of poking holes in the wire itself with the tester that came with the wire harness, I just tested at the og tail light plug.

I also drilled a hole to run the wires down through the body instead of running them through the back of the bumper. To much time on my hands.......

by:

The product itself is a beautifully made and over built trailer hitch. It will tear out of your frame before it ever fails.

More striking, however, is the outstanding customer service from etrailer.com.

I received up to the minute correspondence regarding my order and shipping. I even received an email from etrailer when UPS notified them that they had delivered my kit.

I look forward to ordering from this company again.

NICE TO DEAL WITH GOOD PERSON...I HAD NO PROBLEMS...WOULD USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN...MAY WANT TO GO TORISON BAR AXLE ON BOAT TRAILER...IT'S A C FRAME??? WITH LEAF SPRINGS...

by:

Outstanding product, I am surprised how heavy the hitch assembly is....I feel good about towing a travel trailer, no second thoughts at all. The price was the lowest by far and free shipping to boot. Order arrived sooner than promised....another plus. I have more to order to complete the tow package and all of it will come from eTrailer.

by:

The construction of the hitch and reinforcement plates is high quality along with all the hardware. The bendable bolts are a joke however, I tossed them and just purchased long bolts and didn't have to wrestle with them. Additionally I did have to remove the rear bumper, I just went to a muffler shop and they welded the reinforcement plates in for 20 bucks.

by:

So easy, I can do it. Took an hour at most, but mostly because I never took my rear bumper off before.
The instructions are thorough, but concise. Nothing you dont need, everything you do need. If you can read a schematic, you can folow them easily.
eTrailer was great in communicating my order status and had it all shipped the same day of order. I got my delivery a few days sooner than expected--thank you eTrailer for my free shipping upgrade!

The hitch installation instructions were clear and straight forward making the installation reasonably simple.

by:
1999 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Solid piece of equipment, designed specifically for my tow vehicle (ML-430) tech support was good when I called after the main bolts for receiver were tight.......and I didn't want to gall the threads by forcing them. "CLEAN thoroughly and expect them to be tight"
