Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I installed the hitch to my 1986 Chevy C10 truck, it fits perfectly and solid. I used a floor jack with two small axle stainds. All four outside holes lined up, he’d to drill the other two. I did it by myself in a couple hours. If you have a helper, have him spray WD40 on the drill bit to keep it cool. Find a white wheel cover for the spare tire and store it in the bed. You will never want to crawl underneath your truck while on the side of the road anyway. Tha space tire is a bear to remove even in my driveway .I am well pleased with this hitch bracket. I did not have to remove the bumper to install it.

1968 GMC C/K Series Pickup

I bought this for my '68 GMC 3/4 ton, which is in really nice shape so I wanted a clean install. The hitch was pretty easy to fit - I had to drill holes in the frame but I knew that going in. I especially liked the built-in bracket for mounting the trailer plug, worked great with a Curt combo 7 pin / 4 pin adapter from eTrailer.

Good product, great seller.

1966 Ford Ranger

The 'Drawtite' model 41001 is by far the best trailer hitch i have ever owned. When i opened the box it came in, i couldnt beleive how stout and Heavy-Duty' this thing was. Installation was a breeze and only had to drill two holes. I would definetly recommend any 'Drawtite' as your next trailer hitch. I have one on my Ford Ranger too.

Once installed, you will never have to worry about it again. Ive had mine for 1 year and ive pulled some pretty heavy loads with it on my old 66 Ford truck.

Great hitch at a good price with fast and free shipping! Just what I need to pull a 5000 lb trailer with my 1966 Chevy K10. Would have given it five stars but the packaging was torn up. Thankfully, the bag of bolts was securely taped to the hitch, so I'm good to go.

Thank you, eTrailer.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Compatible with 1968 Ford Truck
The Draw-Tite 75315 hitch has been discontinued, but is only a fit for Ford Full Size Vans. It will not fit a Ford Truck. For your 1968 Ford Truck, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class III # 41001 which is a confirmed fit. I've attached a video of this installation on a 1978 Chevy but the installation is the same.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 1965 Ford F100
For your 1965 Ford F100, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41001. This hitch receiver is a 2 inch Class III rated for 600 lbs tongue weight and 6,000 lbs towing but 1,000 lbs tongue and 10,000 lbs towing when using a weight distribution system. If you don't already have a trailer wiring harness, I recommend the 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with Circuit Tester # 18252. This includes quick splice connectors to make installation easy. You may also want the bracket...

  • Hitch, Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector for 1966 Ford F-250
For a hitch, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite # 41001. For a brake controller, I'd recommend the Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, part # 90885 and the # 20127 pigtail. To replace your existing 7-way, go with the # HM40975-11998 (be sure to pay attention to the wiring color code on the linked product description page). You'll also need the # 5506 brake controller installation kit. I'll link to a help article that fully explains how to install a brake controller.

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 1964 Chevy C10 Panel Truck
The Draw-Tite Hitch part # 41001 that you referenced is confirmed to fit your 1964 Chevy C10 Panel Truck as long as it has an 8 foot bed with a standard bumper. If you have a different bed length or bumper style check out the link I attached as there are several hitch options available based on the different styles of trucks. • Will Draw-Tite Trailer hitch 41001 Fit a 1986 Chevrolet C-20 Silverado With a Spare Tire
Draw-Tite hitch # 41001 should work well on your 1986 Chevrolet Silverado, but you would need to either modify the spare tire hanger or relocate the spare tire in order for the hitch to fit. In addition to the trailer hitch, you would also need a ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin, and wiring to complete your towing setup. The recommended ball mount for your application would be part # 2753, but to determine whether this would work for your particular trailer, you will need to take some...

  • Distance from Frame to Top of Receiver for Hitch 41001 on a 1986 Chevy C/K Pickup
The video for hitch # 41001 is on a 1978 Chevy C/K pickup so it does stand to reason that it would be different than your 1986; still amazingly close though. The distance from the bottom of the frame down to the top of the receiver is approximately 5-3/8 inches. If your truck has the standard or step bumper then hitch # 41001 will fit. If you have the deep drop bumper it will not fit and you would need a different hitch # 41504.

  • How to Measure for Trailer Hitch Clearance on a 1963 Ford F-100 With a Rear Barden Bumper
When mounted, the top of the receiver of the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch, # 41001, will sit 5-1/2 inches below the frame rail. So you can simply measure 5-1/2 inches from the bottom of your frame rail to see if the receiver will clear your Barden Bumper. If you do not have enough clearance for the # 41001 hitch, then you may want to take a look at the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 41504. The receiver of this hitch will sit 7-7/16 inches below the bottom of your frame rail and is...

I have included a picture of what a deep drop bumper is going to look like for you.
