Was very easy to install. Just a minor modification to the frame rail. The install went quickly.

This product still works great. Install was easy and seems it will last

First of all, this Curt is a nice SOLID, WELL MADE hunk of American Iron! A++ for that! But this seller Etrailer.com is also AWESOME! They shipped quickly, and had EXCELLENT communication all along the way, right up till delivery! Oh, and it came with all necessary grade 8 hardware, AND rather ingenious fish wires to fish the bolts thru with! Seriously guys, just buy here!

by:

Very good response to the order and fast delivery. Good business practices in my opinion. I Wil recommend your business to people.

by:
2003 Dodge Caravan

Fast delivery, Came with everything I needed to install,Very simple directions.
I have never had to fish bolts thru a frame before, but with the tool they give you it was done Quickly , to my amazement.

by:

Installed this alone with just a floor jack. Easy installation.

Fine. Have only used it once for a rental trailer to haul a motorcycle.

I generally will buy Curt products over other choices because they tend to be high quality, made in USA (my home town) and install easily.

This one was a bit of a disappointment. It came bent from shipping damage (poorly packed) and the coating was cracked... Not Curt's fault, obviously, lesson learned: don't buy a hitch off the internet. I was surprised the coating chipped and started flaking as easily as it did however, didn't seem to be bonded very well to the steel.

The install was more difficult than it should have been. The heads of the carriage bolts don't fit through the holes as directed in the instructions, they are about .2" too big on the diameter. I could have hacked/ground them to fit, but chose to remove the entire bumper fascia, bumper, etc. and install them through the end.

The other minor annoyance was that the hitch uses standard sized fasteners, including an oddball standard-headed-metric bolt to go into the OE bumper, whereas you need an 18mm socket to remove the OE hardware...

So its unfortunate that it gets a 'good' rating due entirely to saving a few cents on fasteners, and finishing.

Also worth noting the videos on this website have a habit of glossing over the more difficult parts, perhaps to make it easier to sell stuff. I'm a pretty adept mechanic and by the time i had to bend the hitch back into shape, and remove the entire bumper, the install ran me just short of 3 hours.

I would say if your time is worth anything, you are probably better off buying this hitch local and paying someone the quoted install time of 1/2 hour shop labor, and letting them deal with the liability of shipping damage or install complications.

I did just tow a 3000 lb ski boat over 1500 miles with the hitch, it tows noticeably better than the class 2 hitch that was on my old 2000 Caravan. Plus, the 2" receiver accepts more 'standard' bike racks and stuff like that. Paying a little more for the Class 3 is money well spent.

TL; DR: good hitch, probably the best one available for this car, especially if you plan on doing any serious towing (boat, camper, etc) but buy it local and pay someone to install it or plan on 2+ hours and some cursing.

2001 Chrysler Town and Country

Installed hitch on 2001 Chrysler Town and Country. Installation relatively simple. I watched the video for this hitch and also watched the videos for the "Hidden Hitch". (Code: 87717) The videos had bunch of great tips!
The plastic cover on the end of the frame rails are a pain. I have bigger hands and arms, and it was difficult to put my arm in the area between the frame and bumper to bend the plastic cover inward into the frame to pass the bolt and square washer. It is possible to get in the area to do it! It only ships with two fish wires, but installing the hitch one side at a time (driver then passenger) worked great. The mounting area of the hitch was slightly bent inward on the hitch I received. I was able to get it bent back out using some wrenches. You may want to hold up the hitch to verify the alignment of the holes. Overall time took me about 1 hour to install (most of the time was searching for tools in my parents garage). I Jacked up the back end and put jack stands under the axle to make room enough to easily work on it. It could be installed with only one person, but simplifies the process to have an extra hand.

2001 Chrysler Town and Country

Great product, great price! Delivery was fast and all components were packaged and padded well. The hitch fit like a glove on my 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. and installation went smoother than expected. Thanks for the informative video on installation provided on your website. Highly recommend that several days prior to installation that you start treating your original frame to bumper bolts (the two that require removal) with liquid wrench or break-free, as this is the only part of the process that could give you difficulty. Mine came out without breaking, but it takes an impact wrench, and they were understandably stubborn after 17 years!
Thanks again etrailer for providing such fine service and value!

Chrysler Town and Country

I have a 2002Chrysler town and country minivan with a rear swaybar. And this hitch installed without any problems. The tricky part was fishing the bolts thru the frame but was not a big deal once the plastic cover is pushed out of the way. The bolts lined up as they should and took less than an hour for the completed installation.

by:
2002 Dodge Grand Caravan

Thank you so much for my product. I got it in and I'm excited. Here are some pics

by:
2001 Dodge Grand Caravan

The hitch is awesome but the installation was very difficult. I am an import automotive mechanic and have been at it for over 40 years. This install on a 02' Dodge Caravan was not entirely like the video i watched. First of all, getting past the plastic covering the frame rail entrance was all but impossible. Then you had to get past 1 bolt on the way to the front entry hole. Managed to pull the fish wire off the end of the bolt trying to get past it. At this point i opted to weld the front tab and bolt hole to the frame rail. With the remaining wire fish , i was able to install the back 2 bolts with little difficulty except for the afore mentioned plastic covering in the frame rail.

I own an automotive repair shop and buy almost all of my hitches, wiring and brake controllers from Etrailer and have great success. They always set me up properly with what I need and ask the right questions. Thank you for making this hassle free!

2000 Dodge Caravan

Product is great. Exactly what I expected it to be. This is the second time I have purchased through etrailer.com. First, always buy the Vehicle specific wiring harness. It makes things so simple and saves hours of time. Second, the customer service, product offerings, speed of shipment and delivery is the BEST ON THE INTERNET!!! I got an email within an hour of my purchase saying it was completed and shipping that day. Product arrived a day early. I am a customer for life!!!
Not to mention the how to videos are such a time saver.

by:

The product was delivered on time and was exactly as advertised. Plug and Play into the existing wiring harness. Using the instructional videos on the website, the harness was neatly installed.

by:
2003 Dodge Caravan

I was satisfied with the quality of the product and the prompt delivery. However, the installation video was somewhat misleading. Perhaps, it should have included an explanation that the trailer hitch cannot be easily installed UNLESS you remove the rear bumper and showed potential buyers how this is done on this type of vehicle. It took me probably 4 hours because initially I was trying to get this done without removing the bumper.

Hitch worked great & was easy to install. We've used E-trailer for trailer LED lights and we've been pleased with the products, prices and delivery.

by:

I put a 2-inch receiverhitch from ETrailer on my 2002 Chrysler Town & Country. It is so well-made & strong as an ox. A rare bargain for the price! Very satisfied.

by:
Chevrolet Colorado

Great Product, was a little harder to but on then is said. Part of it was the bolts were tough to get off, the wires that they give you break easily so if you have to tug on them I would re-enforce them. The hitch itself is great, just used it to tow a trailer from Colorado to Texas.

by:
2000 Plymouth Voyager

It worked fine and I would give it 5 stars except the installation was more difficult than it should be, the two front bolts did not match the holes in my frame and required some cutting and drilling. Apart from that it was good quality and a good fit.

by:

The trailer hitch was delivered perfectly the box was a extra heavy box so it came in one piece. And it was delivered before they promised it I am extremely happy

by:
2002 Chrysler Town and Country

Installed per instructions, 30 minutes with no issues. Perfect fit, also, not a shin knocker. (receiver does not protrude past bumper face)

by:
2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Hitch appears to be well made and really strong. Installation was easier than I thought it would be (2005 Dodge Grand Caravan) and took me less than 30 minutes from start to finish.

by:
2005 Dodge Caravan

arrived as promised, product fit perfectly, this the fourth hitch I have purchased from etrailer

  • Can a 2002 Dodge Caravan SE with 3.3L Engine Tow a 5000-lb Boat & Trailer
Your 2002 Caravan owners manual is a good place to start. Review the rated towing capacity for the vehicle according to the manufacturer. I checked an online copy of the manual and it indicates that the maximum gross towing weight (GTW) rating for the 3.3L model is 1800 lbs unless the vehicle is equipped with a factory tow package, in which case the capacity increases to 3800 lbs. Again, refer to your owners manual to confirm your vehicle tow rating. If your boat/trailer combination...

  • Bolts Too Large to Get Through Frame Hole on 2001 Chrysler Town & Country w/ Curt Hitch C13362
That is a common issue on vehicles like your 2001 Chrysler Town and Country, so what you'll need to do since the bolts are too large for the frame holes with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13362 is grind open the hole. Use a step/grinding drill bit to do that, or you can also use a file to open the hole to allow the bolt to pass through.

  • How Does a Curt Stabilizing Strap Work and Install
I think the easiest way for me to explain how a Curt Stabilizer Strap part # 18050 would install and be used would be to direct you to a demonstration video we have for this product. Check it out, basically you attach the strap to the cargo carrier or bike rack and then run it to the lip of the hatch or trunk and it helps brace the load when going over bumps.

  • Could Curt Hitch part # C13362 for 2003 Chrysler Town and Country Tow Motorcycle Trailer
Sounds like you are asking if the Curt hitch part # C13362 has the capacity to tow a motorcycle trailer.
