How Does a Curt Stabilizing Strap Work and Install

Question:

Good morning, I am looking at adding a cargo carrier to my 2003 Chrysler Town and Country for a trip that we are taking. In your extremely helpful write-up and videos, you mention additional support straps: Note: All non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from CURT. Outside of strapping the cargo to the carrier, is sounds as if I should be adding additional straps for support. Could you help me understand this better with an example or further explanation? I dont quite understand how I would do that unless I lash something from the back of the carrier up to the roof rack or something similar. Thanks for any clarity that you can provide.

I think the easiest way for me to explain how a Curt Stabilizer Strap part # 18050 would install and be used would be to direct you to a demonstration video we have for this product. Check it out, basically you attach the strap to the cargo carrier or bike rack and then run it to the lip of the hatch or trunk and it helps brace the load when going over bumps.
