Rather simple to install. There a [online] video for explicit direction. It’s a good assist assistant. Plan to use this for my mtb and my moto, and possibly even a small trailer...

Yes. It’s been a year since I purchased this rack for my car. Things of note. I purchased and installed stiffer springs for the rear of my car HUGE and better difference. I also replaced the wing nut mounting bolts to the ramp with a cotter pin system. Works great and easier on and off. It’s the only complaint I would have had. The wing nut retention design gets thumbs down from me.

I don’t know how to retract my last post, maybe an admin can do it. I was referring to my moto rack, not the curt hitch. The hitch is A+and no issues!! Highly recommend it!

2017 Subaru XV Crosstrek

High quality hitch I just installed on a Subaru Crosstrek 2017. I followed all the instructions and viewed install videos. My only suggestion.... small one.... in the 2016 install video, it shows the fishwire kept on the driver side bolts, which I did while I struggled with getting the passenger side nuts on the bolts. This proved to be very helpful in preventing the driver side bolts getting accidentally pushed into the frame. The 2017 video does not show this and the guy uses an pneumatic die grinder. I used a Dremel with a stone wheel that did the job very nicely. Rust-oleum paint on the bare metal. I purchased a 1/2" torque wrench for this install.... wow!... glad I had it, but my arms are a bit sore now. After that experience, I hope others realize that just a ratchet and socket are not going to be enough. The hitch is solid in place and I'm very happy with the purchase.

Terrific hitch, solid as day one.

Subaru XV Crosstrek

This hitch is prefect for our Subaru Crosstrek. It looks nicely centered, the workmanship of the product is excellent, and strength is awesome (more than what we need for our bike rack etc.) The video instruction and the bolt fishing tool made the job easy. I did it by myself, no lift to hold the hitch up etc. and took me about 1/2 hour, taking my time. And I am not very coordinated. I did let the exhaust pipe hold up one end of the hitch while I fished the bolt and attached the nut on one side.

This hitch is still Perfect for our Subaru Crosstrek, We have used it many times during the year and it performed perfect.

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek

This hitch is great! I use it on a Subaru Xbox crosstrek. Was simple to install I did it myself. I mainly use it for a hitch bicycle rack but I have pulled a small [rental] trailer. I will definitely be a repeat etrailer customer for my future cars.

The trailer hitch was extremely easy to install, the instructions were simple. I'm a girly girl and was able to install this hitch.Great price and the hitch came to us incredibly fast. We got emails prior to the receipt and after delivery. Great customer service. I would not hesitate to order from these guys again. Product very well made. Ready to take this on the road.

Thanks, Judy. Im a dirty girl, too. The lady who sold us our Crosstrek suggested we take it to U-Haul or another place to have someone put on a trailer hitch for us, but I knew I could do this myself. I look forward to receiving and installing my trailer hitch. Happy Trails.

2016 Subaru Crosstrek

They expect you to widen the hole in the frame of your car to install this. Yeah that’s right, by design the supplied parts do not fit your car. It’s 2021 and that’s the best these morons could come up with. 30 minute install time is not even close. Do not buy unless you plan on having someone install it for you.

The hitch is a custom fit for the Crosstrek however the holes in the frame will need to be slightly enlarged to fit the hardware through. We have had customers successfully complete this install at home with a simple metal file even though the instructions recommend a die grinder.

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Ordered the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver and Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness for my Subaru Crosstrek. Everything was received in a timely manner and installation was easy. The videos that are available for both products were spot on and made the installation process extremely easy. Only issue I had was the welding on the frame made the back screws harder to install but other than that everything went well. Great customer service at etrailer.com.

2016 Subaru XV Crosstrek

I've put a hitch on an SUV before but it bolted into threaded holes. I had just purchased a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and wanted a hitch to give me towing/carrying options. I liked the look of this class 3 hitch. I was a bit hesitant on the fish wire process you use to get the bolts and plates setup. I took a few minutes and watched the install video Easy-peasy! If you've got the tools they list on the install instruction you're good to go.

O my god ,this hitch is a tank what a well built trailer hitch. At first I was wondering how I was gonna install it since I don't have a lift so I put it on my face and lifted it into place. "Perfect" and o man those wire leaders for feeding the the 1\2 inch and 7\16 bolts "wow man" fantastic could not have installed it without them..

Thanks man
Your on my Christmas card list. : )

Subaru

Hitch was delivered as described. All parts were there and no problems. Very Good instructions to install it yourself. I would recommend having another person with you to help lift the hitch if your installing it yourself. I used my floor jack which helped get the hitch in position for the four bolts. Good video for this installation on my Subaru Crosstrex made all the difference. The biggest thing would be leveling the hitch front to back in my opinion.

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Good fit for the Subaru XTrek. It was a straight forward attachment to the car. I was able to do it by myself without raising the vehicle. I just raised it up to the mounting on the frame with the help of some wood blocks.

by:
2017 Subaru Crosstrek

Very pleased with this purchase. Item was shipped and received very quickly. Easy install. Some of the videos show the technicians dropping the exhaust system- this is not necessary for this hitch receiver. The only modification that needed to be done is the widening of one of the holes on the car frame. I did this with a $7 round file from the home depot. I'd also recommend having a second hand to hold the hitch receiver in place while you bolt it in- it weighs around 35lbs.

Great trailer hitch. Installation was easy with no problems. Quality of welds and finish are very good. I would buy a Curt hitch again.

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Hitch arrived very promptly, was high quality, and extremely easy to install. Subaru wants $425 just for parts, plus installation. This was a bargain and easy to do yourself.

Yes, mine is a 2 inch receiver. This is the new bike rack from Kuat. Pricey, but well made and super easy to load bikes. This part took away my rattle and made the rack not wobble at all.

Installed on a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek. From start to finish, it took under an hour by myself. Build quality is great and looks very good on the car. etrailer got the hitch from their warehouse to my front door in 3 days! Fair price and efficient company. Definitely will recommend.

E trailer was awesome with the shipping. This hitch was easy to install. It only took about 45 minutes to install. My one complaint is that there was not a parts list. All of them where there but you had to use common sense to figure out where they when.

2017 Subaru Crosstrek

Hitch and wiring kit shipped right away and fit great. Installation was easy and only took about 30 minutes. Looks great too!

Very high quality product. Very straightforward instructions. The fish wire method for the mounting bolts was perfect. The wiring harness was easy and worked perfectly. Highly recommend product.

2016 Subaru Crosstrek

Instructions and video for the hitch and wiring are spot on. Took me about an hour and a half to install both. Would have taken less time if my tools were organized!!

by:

Just received the trailer hitch. Took me less than 45 minutes to install and that included collect tools. Only bad things is that the etrailer sticker was upside down.

by:

Very easy to install. Instructions were ok but the install videos by etrailer were very straightforward and eliminated any guess work. Once everything was unboxed and ready to install it only took about 20 minutes to complete.

by:

Its a bit heavy think I should have got the 1 1/2 in version just hauling my bike and occasionally 15 gal of gas cans. A lot of extras weight to be halling around how about an aluminum one strickley for light applications

  • Recommended Hitch for Bike Rack on 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek
There is a Class I and a Class III available for your Subaru XV Crosstrek. Anytime the option is available, I recommend going with the more common 2 inch receiver offered by the Curt Class III receiver, part # C13135. The Class III hitch is only a few dollars more than the Class I, and there are many more bike racks and other hitch mounted accessories compatible with the 2 inch receiver. As far as stability goes, the size of the receiver will have no difference on the stability of the...

As long as the installation instructions were followed and all fasteners were torqued to the specs listed by Curt, you should have no problem with the nuts coming loose on the Curt Receiver Hitch, # C13135, for your 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek. You will need to use the spacers so that the Curt Hitch part # C13135 that you referenced will sit level when installed on your 2013 Subaru Crosstrek. As long as the carriage bolts are fully inserted through the square spacers used in the frame rails of your vehicle and you have the proper torque on all of the install hardware you would be fine. I checked the install instructions (which are linked) and it is not required. I also attached an install video.
