Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is jeff@etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Buyers Products Heavy-Duty Forged Ball Mount for 3" Hitches. It has a 21,000-pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this ball mount will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion right here is what will slide into your vehicle's three-inch hitch receiver, and the ball platform right up front here provides the mounting point for your hitch ball.
Now the hitch ball is not included, that we do sell separately. You do want to make sure when you purchase a hitch ball that the shank diameter of the hitch ball is 1-1/4". That's the diameter of this ball hole right here.Now, this is a solid one-piece forged steel construction. You can see it has a nice corrosion-resistant black powder coat finish. Now, both the drop and the rise positions are available to ensure level towing.
Basically, in the drop position, which would be this position, it's going to give you six inches, and that's measured, put a ruler on that, from the top of the ball platform to the top of the shank here. So there's your six-inch drop. And if you flip it over and put it into the rise position like that, it's going to measure, again top of the shank, top of the ball platform, it's going to give you a maximum rise of four and three-quarter inches.Now, when you do install this into your hitch receiver, it will require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock to attach this to your hitch receiver. Those items are not included. We do sell them separately, and they're usually listed on this product page as a related product.
You do want to make sure that you get a pin diameter of three-quarters of an inch. That's the diameter of the hitch pin hole right here. A few specs, again. The application is three-inch by three-inch trailer hitch receiver. The maximum gross trailer weight capacity on this is 21,000 pounds.
