Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount for 3" Hitches.This ball mount slides into your 3" by 3" hitch opening, and it provides the mounting platform for a hitch ball. That way, you can easily hook up to your trailer, and tow it behind your vehicle.This unit is a solid, one-piece forged steel construction, so it's very strong, very durable. It features a really nice corrosion-resistant carbide black powder-coated finish, so you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion. You can use this in the drop position. You could also flip it over, and use it in the rise position as well, so both the drop and rise positions are available to help ensure level towing.To get it installed and secured in your hitch, it does require the hitch pin and clip, or a hitch lock. Those times are sold separately, and available at etrailer.com.
Again, this is designed to slide into a 3" by 3" trailer hitch receiver. It offers a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 21,000 pounds, and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 2800 pounds.I did take a few measurements that I want to mention for you real quick. The measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole, going in a straight line to the center of the hitch ball hole, is around 10". When used in the drop position, it's going to provide you with a 6" drop. That's from the inside top edge of the receiver tube of your hitch down to the ball platform.
When used in the rise position, it'll give you a 4" rise from the inside top edge of the hitch to the top of the ball platform. I'll take a measurement of the ball hole diameter real quick. That way, you can choose a hitch ball that'll work with this. Would buy again but won’t need to…….it will last forever. You won’t be disappointed.
Awesome heavy duty ball mount. Used it about 15 times before it was stolen off the back of my truck. Indestructible and great value for the $$.
Exactly what you would expect. A massive chuck of metal for use in a 3 inch receiver without hte need for reducers and the issue and rattling they can cause. Sure, and adjustable may be more versatile if you have multiple trailers of different heights, but they are 3 times the cost, or more.
Product was exactly as pictured and described. Having just purchased a 2019 F-350 dually that did not have the 3” hitch. I’ll be using this hitch to pull a utility trailer from Utah to New Mexico to retrieve some personal items.

I have a solution for you to help minimize movement in the receiver. I would recommend part number # BLU85QR. It will help to eliminate the rattle and sway within your receiver.

Heavy duty and ball mounted saves me the hassle. The new F350’s are taller and had to make adjustments for the cargo trailer and 5th wheel. I can count on etrailer to have what I need.
This heavy duty trailer 8” drophitch with locking pin is amazing. A solid steel construction with no welds is very well made. This hitch fits into my 2 1/2” 10,000# rated receiver and won’t have any problem pulling my car trailer loaded with a Jeep and other items.
I tried twice to get this hitch and ball from [online vendor]. Twice the shipment was lost and I had to get a refund. Shipment from etrailer is right the first time and arrived quickly. Plus, since the ball is already torqued on the ball mount, I don't need to by a large socket.
Arrived on time and ball hitch was as advertised. All good!
Product was excellent unfortunately wrong size hitch 2 1/2 inch not 2 inch as on car. Service excellent exchanged no questions.
We’ve already installed it and hitched up the horse trailer. Works great for my needs. Half the weight of the much heavier weight distribution system we had been using (and will continue to use for Interstate travel). Hook up was fast and easy.
This thing is a beast.

Arrived sooner than expected. A very sturdy hitch with pin. I especially appreciate having the rounded edges where we frequently walk at the back of the SUV. 4" drop is correct to match my truck and trailer hitch height on my Subaru Ascent.
Very solid and heavy duty ball mount. Added benefit of being able to buy the ball already secured to the mount. Could not find the 6” drop mount, especially for 2.5” receivers, at local stores. etrailer has it all and ships fast!

Joshua K, the Customer Service Rep with whom I called in and spoke with gets a bazillion stars. The online description doesn’t include if it is qualified to give rise or not.
Josh checked through the product description and figured I could remove the ball, invert it (and recalibrate) and get 5“ of rise. Josh assured me after checking my zipcode that even when selecting free shipping I would have it by the weekend. I ordered on Tuesday morning and it arrived Thursday - 2 days later!
I unpacked the box and was pleased to read that it is qualified for 5“ rise. Very assuring since I wasn’t sure and trailering can be stressful as is.
