Adam: What's going on, everybody Adam here with the etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at Rightline Gear's coupler ball and lock. If you have had a trailer run off on you in the past, hopefully not, but if you know somebody who has had that happen to them, a lock is definitely going to keep a lot of those thieves away from taking your trailer here.So we have a popup camper. Let's just say you go and park it somewhere for storage or something like that over the winter. It'll just give me peace of mind just knowing it's going to be nice and locked together.So pretty much how this works, we're going to get two keys with the kit. This is going to fit on some of these types of couplers here pretty much.
Just put your key in. As we start to loosen this up, it's going to spread this arm on one side out so I can rotate it now, and then pull this through. So pretty much with this in there, no one's going to be able to open this up to where they can hook it up to their ball on their trailer and run off with it. So that's definitely a plus.The lock is one thing, but then there is also a second piece here, which really makes it hard for people to steal your stuff. This polycarbonate construction little ball here, it comes with a little zip tie.
You pretty much zip tie it to your safety chains, and this is going to work with a 2" coupler and also an 1 7/8" coupler. So put that in there, lock it down, put this in, and twist it on there. It's really, really a simple thing to do just to deter any thieves away from your trailer. Yes, if someone really wanted to get to it, they could probably take a bunch of different power tools and get all that stuff off, but it's going to be a lot more difficult.If you are like me and just want to have that peace of mind whenever you park your stuff somewhere, I think the Rightline Gear coupler ball and lock is going to be for you. If you already have a locking coupler, you can go ahead and just buy the ball separately.
