After it has been secured in place, this Blaylock EZ Lock renders your trailer's coupler inoperable, giving you peace of mind. Simply slide the lock around the lip of your coupler, push the 5/8" diameter pin into the coupler's hitch ball recess, and push in the lock mechanism. The unit fully surrounds your coupler to prevent access to the hitch ball recess. The sturdy steel pin extends to the top of the recess, and the pin cannot be accessed while the unit is locked.

Today were going to review part number BLTL-36. This is the Blaylock Easy Lock Trailer Coupler Lock. This is for 2-inch medium duty couplers and 2-inch heavy duty 8,000 pound couplers that have a lip on them. This coupler lock will prevent theft of your trailer that has the ball coupler with a flat or rolled lip. I do have an example here. Heres a 2-inch coupler that will have the flat lip right here, and basically what happens is this lock will slide up over that lip as you can see right there.
It will fully surround the hitch ball opening and it will block access to it and basically what you do is this lock has a 5/8-inch diameter pin right here that you push in all the way and then just push the push button lock right there. You just push it in and it will lock that pin into place. As you can see it locks this fully around the hitch ball opening to prevent any removal of the lock. The lock right here is located on the front of the unit for easy access, and has a recessed tumbler which adds extra security. Now this lock can be keyed alike if you order this product you can select keyed alike and order multiples of this same lock keyed alike, or you can have them keyed to the same other push button Blaylock locks you might have.
This lock is made of an aircraft grade lightweight aluminum which is strong and resists wear and corrosion. It does come with the two keys. They are included. This part is made in the USA, and again the application for this lock is the 2-inch medium duty coupler and 2-inch heavy duty 8,000 pound couplers. The pin diameter of this I mentioned earlier is 5/8 of an inch.
Now the maximum coupler width, let me just unlock this and Ill show you here. Just turn it. The pin will fall out. Then you can remove it from the coupler. Now the maximum width coupler that this will fit on, the maximum width right here is 4 inches so anything larger than that would not fit on here.
Now the minimum to be able to still lock it into place would be 3 of an inch so that would be your range of coupler width that this would fit on. That should do it for the review of your part number BLTL-36 which is the Blaylock Easy Lock Trailer Coupler Lock for 2-inch medium duty and 2-inch heavy duty trailer couplers.

Can be keyed alike to match other Blaylock push-button locks.We earlier purchased the BLTL-38 and found that it was about 1/8" too narrow to fit on our Atwood hitch on our Aliner trailer. The -36 looked like the next size up for our 2" ball hitch. The -36 is a bit too far in the other direction, slopping about excessively. I stuffed a cheap socket wrench socket over the locking pin to take up some of the slop, which seems to help.
It seems like a very well made and elegant product that will stop the casual trailer thief. Someone with a torch or Sawzall should be able make short work of the lock, but hopefully there isn't a ring of trailer thieves out there. :-)
Finding the hitch lock that will fit your trailer like a glove will require a careful dimensional index of trailer hitch types and sizes, or a shop that has everything and will let you try them on for size.
Great lock. Good value. No issues with the pin sticking or corroding. The option to have multiple locks with matching keys is great.

the lock works grate easy to put on had a 16 ft trailer stole from me its no fun dont think they can get this off without the key cost me 3000 for the new one its 18 ft long dont want to loose it the police department cant do anything we pay them well for nothing but writing us tickets so I suggest you spend a few bucks for insusance because if your like me you deductable is around 2500 so what good does it do you for 40 bucks you can hold off a no good theif and save your self the problem of lossing something you paid dearly for

Very nice and solid lock. I have 4 of them and if I got another trailer I would add a 5th.
I am very pleased with the quality and ease of use. Well thought out of good engineering. My previous lock was not user-friendly but this lock solved that problem.

First I must say etrailer is great to work with. Customer service 2nd to none!! Now the wheel lock: Looks nice and works OK. I’m still not convinced it is securely attached to vigorously prevent a determined thief but it does look tough! Of the three lock settings smallest is too tight, medium is just a little loose. The box it came in showed protective caps on the ends. Mine arrived with no rubber caps. It does scratch my nice teardrop custom wheels.
Fit was a little tight but the trailer lip is pretty beat up so can't blame the lock. I was able to get it on with a little muscle and it locked right up. Going to buy another for my project manager's trailer too!
Works great for my Bulldog hitch! I'm satisfied it will stop anyone from tak8ng my trailer easily!

It fits perfectly but the lower latch disconnected so it falls off when I unlock. That part should be better designed.
I bought this to best duplicate a Master Lock #34, which is discontinued. This Blaylock unit is a perfect heavy duty replacement, but with a better lock plunger design and a more secure key cylinder style. I also like the aluminum casting, as here on the Oregon coast, the corrosive air can ruin a lesser trailer hitch lock design. This unit fits all of my trailer couplers, and it deters theft by being bold and obvious. It is unpainted aluminum color, but I paint mine a bright color to help deter theft from a distance, as when the trailer's are parked in a fenced area.
This wheel lock works well and seems effective. One year in the weather and the lock still works as new.
This is a simple to use and secure lock for my new trailer. The Blaylock coupler lock will not rust and the MasterLock SS padlock works perfectly with it. Worth the peace of mind. Good service from etrailer and I would use them again.
let me start by saying I am new to the trailer travel world and had to make many quick decisions about security for my teardrop. That being said, this is a very handsome device. On my trailer it does not fit super-snug but enough to thwart would be thieves (I think). I see pictures of this device with rubber covers on the ends...my arrived with none. They are quite important because without it this device scratches the wheels. Wheel locks in general appear to be bulky, this one is quite streamlined and easier to store. If I was to purchase a wheel Lock again this one would receive serious consideration.
This lock system is simple and weather exposure should not be a hindrance for removal when needed.
I would like to see the pin made of hardened steel. May get a machinist to fab one up out of a harder Rockwell rating.
Painted it Orange and it contrasts very well to the black trailer frame.
This is a visual que for those passing by the county road, that the coupling has 'something' on it.
The Master lock appears to be of a higher quality the the same design but sold for storage unit use. It may be made by Master but have no way of knowing. The lock operates very smoothly and the stainless body is perfect for outdoor application.

Happy to contribute to the community. I know that I appreciate good input from other ownerspurchasers of products to help me make a better informed decision.I would add to this review that it would have been nice if Blaylock could have plated the center moving pin to prevent rust. Ive coated mine with grease and it still rusts at the first of rain.Hope you had an excellent Thanksgiving.
