    • Inside pin length (span): approximately 3/4"
    • Pin diameter: 1/4"
  • Hitch receiver lock:

The unique ball-bearing locking system on these Lifelong locks is supremely easy to use. When you pop the deadbolt onto the end of the pin, the integrated ball bearings engage the lock automatically.

This ball-bearing system also ensures that the structural integrity of the hitch lock's pin is maintained throughout. A typical padlock-style hitch lock has a significant taper at the end of the pin where the lock snaps into place. This taper weakens the pin, making it easier to break or cut. Because the ball bearings are responsible for engaging the lock on this Lifelong lock, no taper is needed. So, the pin diameter is the same along the entire length of the lock. The result is a hitch lock that is strong, durable and highly tamper resistant.

I really like the unique key style, thick to resist bending and breaking, and square shaped to resist being picked open. Also, you only need the key to unlock; you don't need the key again to to relock; only a simple push of the trigger lock with your finger. The rubber end cap fits nice and snug to keep our water and debris. The design uses two large ball bearings to hold the end lock in place. The size of the ball bearings will allow for easy cleaning and lubrication in the future.

My old lock, which I bought in 2007, was starting to gum up, again... and required turning the key clockwise to unlock, and then clockwise again to insert and counterclockwise to lock. It also had a 1/2" to 5/8" sleeve that had cracked in half, and the plastic dust cap was becoming brittle.

by:

Good product works well just make sure you use a graphite lubricant in the locks they work great

by:

Hitch trigger lock is only 0.7-inch wide. It will not fit the 0.9-wide trigger on my Forest River Rockport 232ESP tent trailer. I will be returning it.

by:

The locks are still hard are work, I use them regularly. I do like them a lot except I sometimes struggle with the keys as they go in both directions, and turn both directions but only open one way. I also lost one of black rubber boot/cap, other than that they seem to work pretty good.

Its been a year and its still holding on perfectly no issues no concerns.

by:

protective caps are hard to get off, key's light weight afraid they may break.

by:

I have not used the product yet but the locks look as good as advertised can’t wait to try them out

by:

The trailer lock fell apart in about six months. The two balls and spring fell out and made it unusable. The hitch lock still works but only used that a couple times

by:

I like the receiver lock. The ball pin lock was too short to use.

by:

Nice, quality lock set, that should keep my utility trailer secure when traveling. Weather covers on key slots are a nice touch. Feel heavy and well made. I'd buy them again.

Theyve been working great. One thing Ive found that has made a big difference is keeping lock mechanism lubricated. They gave me fits for awhile, as they come with minimal lube I n them, but for easy operation should be liberally oiled inside lock mechanism.

by:

Junk. Coupler lock froze up on second use. Tumbler mechanism is quite flimsy. Phone with customer support and Bulldog said to spray it with WD 40. It was clear to me, with two locks keyed alike in my hand, that one set of tumblers worked properly, and the other was broken internally. This should not happen on second use. If I was on the road, nighttime, tired, small toolkit, trailer locked to tow vehicle, I would have been pissed, to say the least. After a couple of taps of the hammer, the lock popped open and the coupler pin fell out of the lock casting. Cheap Junk! Customer support was very helpful, and offered refund. I'm going back to my trusty old brass Master padlock.

by:

When I first received this trailer lockset, the hitch pin lock only locked into position about 10% of the time. I called etrailer and told them about the issue. Their customer service was great and called me the same day to get a better handle on the problem. They shipped a replacement out even before I shipped the defective one back to them. etrailer is a great company and has terrific customer service that personally calls you to follow up on everything. I will definitely be doing business with them on my future needs.

excellent product sold under several brand names. Liked mine so much I bought one for a friend. Near impossible to pick according to a lock smith

Thank you for your review. The pin is three quarters of an inch long. It is a good idea to measure how wide the latch is on the coupler.

by:

Great product. I should have read the description a little closer, though. The hitch receiver on my truck is too large for the hitch pin. The hitch pin looks like it was made for a 2 inch receiver. I have a 3 inch receiver with 2 inch adapter. However, the trailer coupler lock fits and works great. The hitch pin size is detailed in the item description, so make sure you get a size that will fit for you. I didn't read the size, so that's my fault. E-trailer had a great price and shipped extremely quickly.

by:

We really love the trailer. We did a lot of research and decided this trailer is the most versatile, affordable, and well-built--we were right. We've taken it camping from Texas to Wyoming and have hauled kayaks and used it to haul things like furnature around town. I've also gotten building supplies from Home Depot. I would recommend the longer-neck, much easier to back up with.

by:

very sturdy well built locks. will be getting another coupler lock for my other trailer. I won't be worrying about someone walking up popping out a pin and walking away with my hitch while I'm in town shopping or the pin coming out and the hitch pulling out while I'm pulling a trailer.

by:

This lock combination is amazing, and arrived very quickly thanks to the superfast shipping from etrailer! The quality is even better than I expected for the price. I am tired of having to change the lock out every couple of seasons, and with this lock set I know I am going to be good for years to come. I love the rubber end cap, and the fact that the lock set looks and feels tough and secure.

by:

Great product just what I wanted to secure my new trailer.
etrailer service was great as always will be shopping again .
Thanks Job well done

Works great. Less keys to keep track of.

by:

Piece of junk. After having it on the truck all winter, ended up cutting the rubber cap off and the lock was rusted shut. Spent about an hour with a hammer and pry bar getting the thing out of the receiver. Afraid to use the other one so it's a nice shiny paper weight on my workbench.

by:

I have had this same lock on my vehicle for several years. It’s a good design in general as it’s not easily snapped off by thieves. That’s why I bought this second lock set for my wife’s new car to prevent her tow ball from being stolen. The only reason I’m not five starring it is that it is difficult to get it to lock. I had to put the key in and turn it left and right multiple times while trying to get the key tumbler to snap down. I would definitely buy it again.

by:

Nice fit and finish to this set of locks. They came with other parts (spare trailer tire, spare tire carrier, and chocks) I ordered at the same time from etrailer. The parts shipped earlier than expected, which was nice because I had a trip planned and assumed these wouldn't arrive before I left. I don't order a lot of stuff on-line, but I would definitely do so again with etrailer. Competitve pricing and quality products.

by:

I should have listened to all of the negative reviews. This lock set is very poorly built. I was able to unlock both locks by only inserting the key about 1/4 of the way in and turning the key. I bet I could break open the receiver lock with a simple screwdriver. It also came missing both of the rubber caps.....I have similar locks made by Anderson Hitch that are far superior. I do not recommend and will not purchase again.

by:

All ok from etrailer..fast shipping with great communication. Just installed products but they are good and heavy so think they will be ok. Locking mechanism seems cheap n nasty so we will see.. There is a lot of trust riding on this simple pin so I would hope it has been tested and built well.

by:

Great product, does the job admirably. Just need to remember to take the receiver lock off once in a while to clean and lube it. Otherwise it becomes very difficult to remove. The trailer lock stays covered most of the time, so no issues there.

  • Replacing Lost Key To Bulldog Hitch Lock
I have a solution for you, but we do not carry replacement keys for the Bulldog Trigger Style Coupler Lock # BD580404 . The way you would determine the correct replacement key would be with what is usually a 3 digit number engraved or marked on the side of the lock; these models usually had a CCP on one side and LB### marked on the other which would give you the key number. If you can't find a replacement key, I recommend replacing this with a Master Lock Trigger Style Coupler Lock # 605DAT...

The spray lubricant will penetrate to the locks bearing and help break up any contaminates that may be causing the lock to stick. Plus, the spray will make separating the lock easier due to lowering the surface resistance of the metal lock.
