What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Fulton spare tire carrier. Now this is a U bolt spare tire carrier, so that means the bolt comes up through the tire in the middle of the wheel, on the lugs and attaches itself to the tongue of your trailer. Take a closer look down here. You can see how the U bolt goes around the frame.
Now this fits up to three inch frames. This one's obviously not three inches, it's two inches, but you can see it still works just fine. It's nice and tight. That's not going anywhere. The spare tire carrier from Fulton works with four lug nut patterns or five lug nut patterns.
We have four on our wheel of the day, you can see it works just fine.Another nice thing with this U bolt carrier is that it comes with the lug nuts. For some reasons, some of the other ones don't come with lug nuts. So you'd get this, get it to the house, get ready to throw the tire on and realize "I got to buy a second part". It's awesome that Fulton included it in there because you got it all one kit here. Along with the four, the five lug nut pattern on your wheel, it will work with wheels of sizes of eight, nine, 12, 13, 14, and 15 inch.
The U bolt and lug nuts are zinc-plated steel. So that means they're going to hold up because clearly you're not going to take that inside every time you're going to leave that tire on your trailer outside, it's going to be fine against the elements. It's super easy to install. Let's check it out.So first off, we're going to take your tire and set it down where you want it mounted. I think we're going to use this on here, cause we don't have much of a choice in that smaller trailer.
All right, so now we're going underneath. We're going to put our U bolt up through those lug nuts, like I said. Just position it. And, just a tip, if it doesn't go through right away, you can just pull in on the ends here of the U bolt, cause it just needs a little bit and it fits right through, it's all good.See if you look on top here, how it's now aligned. I'm just going to push it in just a little bit and you're good. Before I go back top side I just wanted to point out, you probably want to keep one hand here holding the U bolt up against the tongue while you put the lug nuts on top. So let's go up there and do that. Next up, lug nuts. They're included so they're right there with the kit. You can run them down real easily. You don't have to go looking for them. With them tied down by hand, we use the wrench, get a couple more turns on there just to make sure that the tire's not going anywhere. Just one, another turn there. Let's give it a check. Oh yeah. It's not going anywhere, look. I can lift the whole trailer up by the tire, it's not moving. And it's that easy. That does it for our look at the Fulton spare tire carrier.

The carrier works very well for attaching the spare to the front rail of my aluminum trailer. I attached a block of wood to the tongue to raise the spare to the right height. The nuts will loosen over time so backing nuts are recommended.
Looks to be a well made U bolt, however buyer beware and pay attention the measurements.
This spare tire mount is listed as fitting a 15" wheel with 5 lugs, but NOT for a 5" bolt pattern.
Does fit a 4.5" bolt pattern. Had to modify this U bolt fit fit my new trailer 15"spare wheel with a 5" bolt pattern. It's cheap and to much effort to send it back.
No issues at all. I use my trailer at least 2x monthly for hauling Off-road jeeps to and from the trails 20K+ lbs.
Great experience. Needed a basic spare tire set up for a jet ski trailer and received the items in less than a week. Will do all future trailer shopping here. Could not be happier.
Great price, quick shipment.
Perfect fit for trailer and wheels are holding up well with no rust.
Works great.
Fits and works well, Thanks!
Great quality at an affordable price! Super fast handling and shipping also! Thank you
just what I needed to mount my tire. This says for 5 lug wheels. I needed a holder for 6 lug. I put this in my vice, heated the center bottom of the U and stretched it out a little bit. Now fits the 6 lug wheel perfectly.
Right fit. Just what I needed.
Used this bolt to mount my spare on the tongue of my utility trailer. I bought one once before and it didn’t have enough threads to tighten the wheel down snug this one had about an extra inch of threads. A lot heavier then my last one to. Wheel fits snug now
Made everything easy.
Well made and would fit a large variety of trailers. Excellent quality metal.
got the bolt in a decent amount of time. bolted the spare tire up and it has worked well.
From the easy to navigate website to the quick shipping, a positive experience!
