Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.
Made in America to military-grade specifications, this one-of-a-kind ratchet strap from ShockStrap is great for nearly any application, from securing cargo on your vehicle for your next weekend getaway, to strapping down your favorite toys on your trailer. The 27' length of this strap is perfect for securing heavy loads to your trailer and tying down UTVs and utility tractors.
Unlike traditional straps, which don't stretch or contract, this tie-down is uniquely designed with built-in shock absorbers that allow the strap to maintain constant tension on your load as you travel. This is great for vehicles with suspension systems that can compress and rebound when you travel rough terrain.
The webbing of a standard strap can't stretch or contract to absorb impacts. As a result, standard tie-downs might become detached from their anchor points, or they may become slack around your gear as the load shifts. But this ratchet strap features 2 built-in urethane shocks that are designed to absorb impact and to allow give. This ensures that the tie-down stays taut and won't loosen over time. The built-in shocks help to keep the tie-down from coming loose or failing, which could result in lost or damaged gear.
In addition, the shock ensures a longer life for the strap webbing. If you use this to tie down a UTV, for example, the constant compressing and rebounding of the UTV's suspension during travel can wreak havoc on ordinary straps. The webbing is likely to experience more wear and tear as it rubs along your gear. But the ShockStrap's shock absorbs these jolts so that the webbing of the tie-down stays put instead of wearing over the edges of your equipment.
This tie-down features a commercial-grade, field-replaceable ratchet that is easy to use. To release the ratchet, grab the oversized handle and pull on the release lever. The release lever is positioned on the outside of the ratchet to ensure safe and easy operation, even if you're wearing gloves.
To use the ShockStrap ratcheting tie-down strap, first attach one of the sturdy flat hooks to a desired anchor point. Then stretch the strap over your cargo and secure the other hook to a point on the opposite side of your truck or trailer. Each hook has a wide opening, making it hassle-free to maneuver and attach the hooks to your anchor points.
Soft loops, which are on both sides of the strap, can be used to tie down a piece of equipment that may otherwise be difficult to secure. So instead of using the hooks, which may scratch or scuff your toys and might be difficult to run through or around other cargo, you can easily cinch the tie-down around your gear. Just wrap a soft tie around the axle of your UTV and then secure the tie-down to your anchor points as usual.
Once the hooks are in place, tighten the webbing around the cargo and activate the shocks. To tighten the strap, crank the ratchet mechanism until the webbing is taut around your load. Be sure not to overtighten the strap. If your hand cannot fit between the shock and the safety strap, the strap is too tight.
To activate the shocks, tighten the strap a bit more, stretching the shocks until light is visible through the bolt holes in each shock. In warm climates, the shocks can stretch up to 2", while in subzero climates you may only get about 1/2" of give.
Finally, after tightening the webbing and stretching the shocks, make sure your cargo is completely secure and then tie off any extra slack.
Additional ShockStrap accessories can be added to help with load securement. Use the ShockStrap strap latches (297-2STY - sold separately) to secure the hooks on this tie-down strap to anchor points, ensuring that the hooks won't pop off while you are securing your load or while you are traveling.
The sturdy, UV-resistant polyester webbing of this tie-down strap has a high tolerance for abrasion and water absorption.
The shocks are made of urethane, which can withstand elements such as sunlight, saltwater, moisture, oil, fungi, and most chemicals. These shocks can function in nearly any temperature, holding up to hot and cold weather conditions without losing elasticity or becoming unyielding or brittle over time.
The rust-resistant, yellow zinc chromate coating on the ratchet and hardware holds up to the varying weather conditions.
A safety strap is also built into this tie-down to provide peace of mind should something happen to the shocks. This safety strap ensures that if the tie-down is used improperly, overloaded, or unduly stretched, your cargo will remain secured.

What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we will be checking out these ratchet straps from ShockStraps. So these aren't just your basic ratchet straps. They still have that functioning of rationing here, but what they have built into them is a shock absorber. So this is going to be good for anything that you want to strap down, that has suspension or any loads that can actually shift on you. Cause anytime you hit a bump, it's going to bounce up here and sometimes that's going to affect your straps.
It will slowly come loose as you hit those bumps and it shifts around. Or even if it's a load that moves, the more movement it's going to make it loosen up. Well, this is going to absorb that shock and keep them nice and tight when you're going down the road. Let's check it out. Take a closer look at the urethane what's going to happen here is when you go to tighten it down, it's usually about this big.
And when you go to tighten it down up to 1/2 inch or two inches, it's going to stretch it out. And what that does is when you hit that bump with that load on there, it comes down. It goes back to its original and then comes back out here. Or if it's overstretched and you hit that bump, it's just going to stretch a little bit and then come back down. All the shock will be absorbed here and your straps are going to stay tight there.
Now, one of the first things I'd be concerned about is this breaking. Now, these aren't pretty thick. They're not rubber bands. You see I'm pulling on it and moving it. You don't visibly see it stretch like that by my hands.
So it's pretty tough. It's going to hold up. But if once something to go wrong, if you had it way too tight and pulled these too far over the two-inch limit like they say, you still have that strap here as a backup. It's going to keep everything connected. Looking at how it attaches, today we're using the one that has a flat hook. So this is going to go up and under the stake pocket. One thing we ran into and it is a little too thick to go into the stake pocket. Normally we'd run it through here in the center or through the bottom up here and attach it here at the top. We couldn't do that with this one, but it's still on there nice and tight. You can see you can shake it back and forth. It's not going anywhere or moving. As long as it's ratchet, it's going to stay there. There are a couple of different ones with different attachment points. You can also get one that has the snap hook on there or the double J hook if those are the ones you prefer. Talking about the strap itself, you're going to have 27 feet of strap to work with. As you can see, we didn't use all of it today. We have our extra tied up right here, but it's there if we needed it. You're going to also have two inches of width here. So from here to here, it's going to be two inches thick. So that's going to be nice when you're going to tie that stuff down. You don't have to worry about like a really skinny strap, having issues, maybe not be able to handle the load. The straps do have a safe working load limit of 3,333 pounds. And then it's going to have a break strength of 10,000 pounds. So just keep that in mind. And that's going to be 3,033 per straps. So if you put those together, you can combine that and get the higher number when you're strapping down load. We always recommend using two straps anyway, just to be safe. If we look at how it's constructed, we're going to start with the strap and see its polyester webbing right there. So there's plenty of stitching in there and reinforced. This is not just one strap. You got that webbing and that's going to help you out and be strong when it's tension this much. When it's this tight holding that low down, you don't have to worry about it ripping or tearing. Then coming down here to the ratchet mechanism, it's really easy to use plenty of room to get your hand in there. I liked that part because sometimes they get kind of small where you're going to get like a finger to release the mechanism to either back off the tension like here, just like that. And then get that ratchet on there to get those turns. Nice. There's plenty of room on the handle for my hand too. So as you can see, I can easily ratchet it back down and took no time to get it just nice and tight. Again, the finish itself, it's going to be a yellow zinc chromate. So that's going to protect it from the elements when you leave it outside. So if it is the rain, you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion or anything on it you want this operating just as smoothly as the first day you got it. With all the construction in mind, they are as heavy-duty as they seem. I like that. Just holding them, I know that all that parts are going to hold up from the ratchet magazine to the strap. Now it also is made in USA. So that's kind of rare these days. So I have here more faith in it, knowing that they're going to last going down the road. Now, quantity, you can get it in a pack of two, or you can get one by itself. So maybe you just need two for right now, maybe you have another load like you get to take longer loads. You need to get that extra one down the road. You can still do that. First up, we get it installed. We're going to go ahead and hook up one of the flat hooks, the bottom of our stake pocket here. Just so it stays in place as we run the strap over to the other side. So it'll hold there much better once we start ratcheting down. But for now, we've got this setup going. Now, this hook is a little too big for the stake pocket. You see the spread of the hook is just a little too thick there. So it won't quite go down there. We would usually want to run it down through the bottom and come to hook it on the top, but we can't do that with this one. So that's just something to look out for on your trailer and your stake pockets. So today we're just going to go like that, and once it ratchet, it'll be nice and tight. While doing that, I got this setup, got this opened up. That way you can pull on just a little bit to get this hook over there, on the other side. We'll get some more strap through there. I'm kind of just using my knee to push up on this too. So it doesn't come undone. It looks like that should probably be enough to get to the other sides of this. Throw it over there. And now we'll go hook it up on that side. Now on this side, just going to hook it up to the bottom there and I'll just go back over there and start ratcheting. That way, it pulls it nice and tight here. Now on this side, I did pull some of the slack out of the strap, just so it pulled up against the pocket on the opposite side. And now we'll put it in the ratchet mode and I'll start ratcheting down. And one thing you going to see it's urethane is going to start to pull apart and it's okay. You want to aim for a 1/2 inch up to two inches of it getting pulled apart. As long as you can put your hand between the urethane and the strap here, it's not too tight. And if you can't put your hand, you went too far. So we're just gonna start ratcheting it down. So right there, I can still put my hand in there. So I know it's not too tight. Now we're done ratcheting it down. We can take all of our extra strap and wrap it up. I tied a knot on itself to keep it all nice and tight. You don't want it to flopping around while you're driving down the road. Overall, I really did like these straps they're heavy-duty. I have complete faith that they're going to last. The ratcheting mechanism was nice and easy to use. It was got this all strapped down in no time. And plus, like I said before, they're made in the US. So, that's awesome. I really liked that part too. That does it thanks for hanging out. I hope this helped..

USA made strap with shock absorber holds tight around your vehicle or heavy cargo. Perfect for vehicles with bouncing suspension systems. No need to pull over and re-tighten. Zinc-coated flat hooks. 10,000-lb Max load.Way better than standard tie downs. Holds better if you tighten enough as compared to standard tie down and does not slack up
These are just what I was looking for and more. Was looking for motorcycle tie-down that wrapped around handlebars. The shock absorber is a bonus.
The product performed as it was advertised. The straps were well constructed and it was obvious a great deal of thought went into the design. I shoot sporting clay targets and haul a John Deere Gator 825 XUV to events, as a means of transportation around the course. Roads traveling to and from events, often, are gravel or dirt. This can and does create rough road surfaces to pull trailers and XUVs on. I used the Shock Straps this past week and watched to Gator as I drove on some rough terrain. The Gator did not move or sway during the trip. When I got to my destination, the straps were as tight as when I left for the trip. There was absolutely no play in the straps. Previously, I was always adjusting the straps and the XUV would rock and bounce on rough terrain. No any more.
I use these to tie down Honda Rancher ATVs, I took out the rubber shock as it's useless(too stiff) for the weight of the ATV and provides no shock motion. The strap itself is unbeatable. Heavy duty, with the loop and latching hook that make this strap a super safe option. The strap and hook WILL NOT come off going down a rough road, due to the safety mechanisms. Well worth the price if you want long lasting AND safety as peace of mind.
Best strap I have had for timing down my Polaris Ranger!
I ordered these to strap down an ATV for several hour highway trips during hunting season. They work great and my atv does not bounce around and loosen the straps like traditional ratchet straps do. I've recommended to several friends who have also ordered and have the same success. Great product!
The etrailer team set up my account for no sales tax (we are a school) quick and easy. Once I placed my order, it arrived just as quick. I recommend etrailer very highly.
I should have bought the straps that bolt to the trailer.
These work but not much need for the shock feature or the loops at the end of the strap.
I love the Shock straps. After using them for a year they are still working great. I would recommend to anyone.
This review is more of etrailer not a product. Ordered these tiedowns for a birthday gift. Website indicated delivery in 4 to 5 days. They didn’t even ship for nearly a week, birthday came and went its need 12 days since ordering and still have not received the item. If you really want these tiedowns, find them somewhere else other than etrailer.
They look nice and heavy and made of good quality materials reason for 4 stars I haven’t used them yet
Excellent product. The heat does cause the rubber coating on the hooks if they're tied down for any length of time. Sometimes the locking mechanism gets stuck in an in-between position and it's difficult to unlock; however, these are still the best straps I've ever had and I've had zero load shifting problems or broken straps. I will definitely buy a second set.
Like everyone else I would go through the efforts of strapping down a utv only to see my ratchet straps hanging off the trailer as I look at my review mirror 10 minutes into my trip. Never again! Used these on a 200 mile round trip down all kinds of roads (freeway, country roads, dirt roads, etc) and never had to adjust or tighten them. A must have.
These straps are great. The are strong and allow for some movement of the motorcycles without have the straps break or come loose. The Harley was transported to Las Vegas and back, 2500 miles with no issues.
WELL MADE HEAVY DUTY, WISH THEY HAD THE CARRY BAG
Easy to assemble, easy to use. I lug around my 450SXF on my 2005 Prius. Works great.
exactly as advertised
Knowledgeable staff helped me make the right decision
I was looking for tie down straps to haul my ATV as well as my garden tractor. The standard straps were okay but did seem to loosen up after traveling for awhile. So I took a chance on these ones based on the details one etrailer as well as reviews. I have not been disappointed. They worked as described and do not loosen in transit. I would definitely purchase again.
Very well thought out product. Works well on the front of my BMW K1600GTL. Allows some movement, to minimize road shock, without allowing the bike to loosen up, especially as the Duolever front does not compress the fork spring when strapped down.
Geesh these are really large! Bought these over the 1.5" as it was almost the same price. But now getting them, I almost wish I got the small version for our Dirt Bikes. But these will for sure more then do! Heck.. I could even use them to pull a car out of a mud pit with these 2"ers. I'll keep them vs swapping for the smaller..
Heavy duty straps straped my utv down made a 2 hour trip they stayed tight just like they advertise had good promt service with etrailer they are more expensive than some other straps but very much worth it
Awesome product, performs better than I expected. Super strong and built well. Well worth the money invested.
They do not slip
Well after one year I give it a 4 star plus rating. I haul a $1,500 snow thrower and I do not want it sliding around or coming loose. This product claimed it will hold...and it did...I tried good looking store bought straps and sometimes I would not even drive a mile and they were loose. I cannot afford that! BUT for as much as I am in and out with my work I wish they were a little quicker for me to secure. It is not that difficult once you get the hang of it, but I do it 15 times per snow fall and I would dream of straps secure and very fast to secure. Maybe secure hooks on each connection and no sifting strap thru each time. OVERALL if you want your cargo not to shift or come loose BUY THESE.
