with these fittings and transmission oil cooler on my 2000 Ford F350 superduty powerstroke diesel has lowered my temps by 15 degrees.
Thanks

I have a 99 Ford F250 4WD 7.3 diesel with 191,000 miles. I am on my 4th transmission. I pull a horse trailer once a year to Colorado or Wyoming from E Texas on an elk hunt. Other than that, maybe a camper or horse trailer hauled to my deer lease 100 miles away. I finally added a temp gauge to the last one. Now I was seeing that my tranny was running around 205 just pulling my trailers up a small grade around my county. Outside temp around 90. I replaced the original Ford cooler with one from Ford. Same results. I did research on my own and stumbled on to Etrailer.com and articles of the Derale 8000. I had this put on by my radiator man. He wanted to mount it above the Ford cooler to get max airflow. He had to fabricate some brackets and use some other hose connectors as the ones furnished didn't fit right. Not a problem for me as this thing has finally solved my problems. I ran the same route with my horses loaded in the trailer(est 6000# total wt). The temp gauge registered 170 to 175. That is a drop of 30 to 35 degrees. I now feel confident when I go to Colorado in a few weeks that I won't be broke down on side of road with overheated tranny and buying another tranny when I return. Etrailer shipped product very fast. I am overly happy regardless of it not just fitting perfect.

I installed the Derale D13503 in series with my existing factory installed auxillary cooler for added protection on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. With the Sport Trac tranny having the reputation for overheating failure, I took the cooling up a notch! I tow a 7X14 enclosed v-nosed trailer, and now I am protected! It was a very easy install, and the included hardware made it pain-free :-)

As a returning coustomer I can say all my dealings with atrailer have been great.
Great product, price, shipping and the very best coustomer service.
Product fit perfect and preformed as expected.
Will be back in the future when I need products etrailer sells
Thanks

Great product at a good price , makes adding a trans cooler easy.
fast shipping too.

by:

Does not work on 99 F250 7.3L. The flare sides of the fittings are to long and deep to use with the existing cooler and fittings.

by:

Recommended for the transmission cooler install .... Did not see where it was needed.

  • Will Derale Transmission Cooler D13105 Fit a 2004 Ford F-250 5.4 Liter with Factory Cooler
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific so you can install cooler # D13105 in your 2004 Ford F-250 with the 5.4 liter motor. To avoid having to cut and flare lines I also recommend adding fitting # D13025. You can use this supplement cooler with the factory cooler already on your truck. The flow of the transmission cooler will go first to the factory cooler, from there to the supplemental cooler, and then back to the transmission.

  • Installing Derale Transmission Cooler on 2012 Ford F-150 With 5.0L V8 Engine
If you are good mechanically installing the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13504 with Adapter Fittings # D13025 on your 2012 Ford F-150 with a 5.0L V8 will be relatively simple. I have attached a link to the installation instructions but the basic summary is, after selecting a mounting location, you need to locate the return line to the transmission, which you do by starting the car up, waiting a few minutes and then just touching the transmission lines, and the...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for 1999 Ford F-350 with 7.3L V8 Engine
Thank you for the photo of your sturdy F-350 that is in need of a little TLC in the form of a transmission cooler to help it when pulling those heavy loads. For your heavy-duty application you'll want a high-efficiency cooler that will give your transmission the most temperature reduction possible. This means using the largest Class IV cooler that you can fit in the area in front of the radiator and A/C condenser (if present). The cooler I recommend is the Derale # D13105 that you referenced....

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport with 4.0 Liter V6
Given the distance you are going to drive and the weight of the trailer compared to the size of the vehicle I reocmmend going with the most efficient cooler that will fit in the engine compartment. The most efficient design is the stacked plate type of coolers such as # D13403. This cooler measures 13 inches across, 7-5/16 inches tall, and 2 inches front to back. Make sure you have this much space to mount the cooler. There are not specialty tools that you will need to perform the installation....

  • Determining Towing Capacity of 2014 Ford F-150 and Upgrade Options to Improve Performance
Subtracting the CGVW (Gross Combined Vehicle Weight) from the GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) is indeed the most accurate way to determine a particular vehicle's true towing capacity. Because there are so many potential variables as to what was actually added to the truck at the factory, this is the ideal method. With that being said I wasn't able to find any specifics on if or by how much not having the factory tow package would decrease the towing capacity of your F-150. It's also important...

For your 2004 Ford F-150 with a 5.4 liter engine the Derale transmission cooler part # D13503 would be a great option. You'd also need the fittings part # D13024 and # D13025 and you'd be set in that regard as well.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler For 3/8 Inch Hoses on 2002 Ford Excursion 6.8L
For your 2002 Ford Excursion 6.8, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets # D13503. This cooler has turbulators inside tubes for superior heat transfer. The included mounts attach the cooler to one of your other heat exchangers, but some people prefer to create a fixed mount using a mounting kit like # D13002. I recommend the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury # D13025 to easily install your new transmission cooler...

  • Is Larger Transmission Pan Needed if Installing Supplemental Transmission Cooler on 2002 Ford F-350
No, you will not have to install a larger transmission pan if you added a supplemental transmission cooler though you may need to add more transmission fluid. This is because the core of the new cooler and the hose to add additional capacity. But a larger pan is not needed.

  • Transmission Cooler for 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Towing 3000-lb Trailer
A transmission cooler is a sensible addition to almost any vehicle that will be towing a trailer. This is true even if the trailer weight is less than the vehicle's towing capacity. The 2008 Explorer Sport Trac 4.0L has a 3500-lb maximum trailer weight capacity according to the online manual I reviewed so a supplementary transmission cooler is definitely a good idea. Transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled. The recommended Derale cooler for your vehicle is item # D13503 which installs...

  • Recommended Transmission Coolers for 2000 Ford Expedition with 5.4L V8 Engine
Transmission coolers like the Class V Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13614 are not vehicle specific; other pan type coolers such as # D14208 that bolt on in place of your transmission pan ARE specific to your 2000 Ford Expedition with 5.4L V8 engine. You can install Derale cooler # D13614 as long as you have space for it to mount in one of the preferred locations (see the linked article) such as in front of your AC condenser. You will also need hose fitting kit # D13025.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 1996 Ford Aerostar
Transmission coolers are pretty universal in application. The best way to pick one out would be to measure the space you have in front of your radiator and pick out the biggest cooler that would fit there. The Derale Transmission Cooler part # D13502 would be an excellent choice if you had the clearance for it. It measures 11W x 7-1/4T x 7/8D Inch. To make installation easier you would also want the # D13014 and # D13025 fittings.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2007 Ford F-150 with V6 Engine
The Derale cooler part # D13503 is a fit for your 2007 Ford F-150. This cooler is very universal in what it can fit and your Ford truck would work well with it. For the quick install fittings the part # D13025 would be what you need if you have 5/8"-1/8 lines or part # D13024 for 1/2-20 fittings.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2009 Ford F-150 STX 4.6L
We have a few excellent transmission coolers that would be great additions to your 2009 Ford F-150 STX, but they will each be a little larger than your factory cooler and rightfully so since you will be towing a 7,000 lbs trailer. My best recommendation is the Derale Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13402. The stacked-plate coolers are the most efficient tranny coolers on out there, so you can rest assured that it will be doing the most to keep your transmission fluid cool when...

I recommend the Derale Single-Hose Transmission Cooler Installation Kit # D12006. I have provided a link to this product. • How To Pick Out a Transmission Cooler for a 2008 Ford F-150
If you can fit a bigger transmission cooler than the part # D13502 then I would recommend you do that. Realistically, you can't go too big when it comes to transmission coolers. The biggest one you can fit will be your best option. The part # D13502 measures 11" Wide x 7-1/4" tall x 7/8" deep. If that's the biggest you can fit then I'd go with this one. Otherwise I'd look into a bigger one like the part # D13504 that measures 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep. I attached an install video...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 1999 Ford F-150 with 5.4 liter V8
For towing a trailer like what you mentioned with a 1999 Ford F-150 a supplemental transmission cooler would be a great option that we would highly recommend. Most likely your truck came with a factory cooler but typically they do not do a very good job at all. Especially around the age of your truck. The newer vehicles have better coolers but the older ones are adequate at best for light duty applications. I'd recommend the part # D13503 as this is a very popular and efficient cooler...

We have a 1/2 inch compression fitting to go from 1/2 inch line to 1/2 inch NPT barb # D13033. I would actually have the flow go from the transmission, to the factory cooler in the radiator, then from there to the other cooler, and then to the Derale cooler before going back to the transmission. This is the normal way to install a supplemental cooler (at the end of the line). The fitting we have listed for the 2005 Ford Expedition is # D13025 which are 5/8 inch inverted flare fittings.

The best way to go for steep climbs and down hills is to have a good brake controller for the descent so you can use the manual adjuster as needed to apply brakes to only the trailer and the brake pedal to use brakes for both vehicle and trailer. I recommend a proportional brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. You will want to make sure you don't overheat your brakes by using them too often, but still use them as needed to maintain control. For the up hill climbs, your...
