with these fittings and transmission oil cooler on my 2000 Ford F350 superduty powerstroke diesel has lowered my temps by 15 degrees.
Thanks

I have a 99 Ford F250 4WD 7.3 diesel with 191,000 miles. I am on my 4th transmission. I pull a horse trailer once a year to Colorado or Wyoming from E Texas on an elk hunt. Other than that, maybe a camper or horse trailer hauled to my deer lease 100 miles away. I finally added a temp gauge to the last one. Now I was seeing that my tranny was running around 205 just pulling my trailers up a small grade around my county. Outside temp around 90. I replaced the original Ford cooler with one from Ford. Same results. I did research on my own and stumbled on to Etrailer.com and articles of the Derale 8000. I had this put on by my radiator man. He wanted to mount it above the Ford cooler to get max airflow. He had to fabricate some brackets and use some other hose connectors as the ones furnished didn't fit right. Not a problem for me as this thing has finally solved my problems. I ran the same route with my horses loaded in the trailer(est 6000# total wt). The temp gauge registered 170 to 175. That is a drop of 30 to 35 degrees. I now feel confident when I go to Colorado in a few weeks that I won't be broke down on side of road with overheated tranny and buying another tranny when I return. Etrailer shipped product very fast. I am overly happy regardless of it not just fitting perfect.

I installed the Derale D13503 in series with my existing factory installed auxillary cooler for added protection on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. With the Sport Trac tranny having the reputation for overheating failure, I took the cooling up a notch! I tow a 7X14 enclosed v-nosed trailer, and now I am protected! It was a very easy install, and the included hardware made it pain-free :-)

As a returning coustomer I can say all my dealings with atrailer have been great.
Great product, price, shipping and the very best coustomer service.
Product fit perfect and preformed as expected.
Will be back in the future when I need products etrailer sells
Thanks

Great product at a good price , makes adding a trans cooler easy.
fast shipping too.

by:

Does not work on 99 F250 7.3L. The flare sides of the fittings are to long and deep to use with the existing cooler and fittings.

by:

Recommended for the transmission cooler install .... Did not see where it was needed.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2007 Ford F-150 with V6 Engine
The Derale cooler part # D13503 is a fit for your 2007 Ford F-150. This cooler is very universal in what it can fit and your Ford truck would work well with it. For the quick install fittings the part # D13025 would be what you need if you have 5/8"-1/8 lines or part # D13024 for 1/2-20 fittings.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2013 Ford F-150 with 5.0 Liter
With transmission coolers you basically want to go with the largest one you can fit in front of the radiator. A very popular option is the part # D13504 which measures 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep and would be a great choice. To make the install as easy as possible you would want the part # D13025 which allows the cooler to install without having to cut or flare any lines. The cooler does not attach directly to brackets of your radiator, but with it's push pins it installs very easily.

  • Will Derale 8000 Transmission Cooler, # D13504, Fit A Ford F350 7.3L Diesel With Factory Cooler
The best location for the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13504, on your Ford F350 7.3L Diesel would be between your vehicle grille and the air conditioning condenser. This location will give you the most airflow and allow the maximum cooling ability of the heat exchanger. You will want to measure to make sure you have clearance to install the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger measures 11 inches wide x 12 inches tall x 7/8 inch deep. The Derale Series 8000 Transmission...

  • DIY Installation of Transmission Cooler for 2006 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty
Yes, the transmission cooler is a fairly easy-do- it-yourself installation. For your 2006 Ford F-250 or F-350 with a 5.4 liter engine, you can purchase the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13025 to ease installation. This way you can avoid cutting the original transmission line and flaring the cut ends. For an at-home installation I would allow 2-1/2 to 3 hours or more for the installation. Before ordering you should measure the available space in front of your radiator or air conditioning...

  • Recommended Transmission Coolers for 2000 Ford Expedition with 5.4L V8 Engine
Transmission coolers like the Class V Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13614 are not vehicle specific; other pan type coolers such as # D14208 that bolt on in place of your transmission pan ARE specific to your 2000 Ford Expedition with 5.4L V8 engine. You can install Derale cooler # D13614 as long as you have space for it to mount in one of the preferred locations (see the linked article) such as in front of your AC condenser. You will also need hose fitting kit # D13025.

  • Transmission Cooler for 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Towing 3000-lb Trailer
A transmission cooler is a sensible addition to almost any vehicle that will be towing a trailer. This is true even if the trailer weight is less than the vehicle's towing capacity. The 2008 Explorer Sport Trac 4.0L has a 3500-lb maximum trailer weight capacity according to the online manual I reviewed so a supplementary transmission cooler is definitely a good idea. Transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled. The recommended Derale cooler for your vehicle is item # D13503 which installs...

  • Special Fitting Needed to Install Supplemental Transmission Cooler on a 2011 Lincoln Navigator
You are correct. Fitting # D13025 threads into the radiator on your 2011 Lincoln Navigator so you will not have to cut or flare the metal lines to install a supplemental cooler. A cooler such as # D13503 includes the hose, clamps, and hardware to mount it so the fitting # D13025 is the only other part you'd need. They are the appropriate size to match the lines to/from the transmission. The fluid will flow from the transmission, into the stock cooler located inside the radiator, then...

For your 2002 Ford F-250 with 6.8L V10 engine the most popular transmission cooler option is the Derale Class III model # D13503 which installs with Radiator Adapter kit # D13025. This cooler measures 11 x 8-3/4 x 7/8-inches and it is best installed in front of your AC condenser where it will receive the most direct air flow. A video is included for you. The cooler can be installed with the two connection ports facing in any direction. Another option is to use a pan-style cooler. A pan...

  • Hose Size and Fittings to Install a Transmission Cooler on a 2010 Ford F-150 4.6 Liter
The type of fitting to use will depend on the thread type used on the transmission line fittings on your 2010 Ford F-150. If they are 1/2"-20 threads use kit # D13024. If they are 5/8"-18 use # D13025. If you can measure the diameter of the threaded part of a fitting on your truck that will tell us which one is correct. If you are getting a kit such as # D13504 then the proper size hose is included. The standard hose is 11/32 inches inner diameter.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler For Early 2009 Ford Flex With 3.5L Non-Eco Boost Engine
For your early 2009 Ford Flex with the 3.5l V6 Non-Eco Boost I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient # D13503 as it is confirmed to fit your vehicle, and due to its effeciency in cooling the fluid from your transmission. To install the # D13503 you will also need the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury # D13025. I included videos for both of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2011 Ford Escape
I found the expert answer you referenced where Jeff said to check the owners manual for restrictions on towing. He meant that you should check to make sure your vehicle is rated for towing the trailer you are planning on towing from a weight capacity point of view. There would be no restrictions on installing a transmission cooler aside from the available space on your vehicle. You would want the to route the transmission fluid from your factory cooler in your radiator to the aftermarket...

  • Recommended Brake Controller and Transmission Cooler for 2004 Ford Expedition 5.4L 4×4 for Towing
The best way to go for steep climbs and down hills is to have a good brake controller for the descent so you can use the manual adjuster as needed to apply brakes to only the trailer and the brake pedal to use brakes for both vehicle and trailer. I recommend a proportional brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. You will want to make sure you don't overheat your brakes by using them too often, but still use them as needed to maintain control. For the up hill climbs, your...

  • Transmission Cooler Radiator Adapter Kit for 2007 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0 V6
The Derale Radiator Adapter kit # D13025 is intended to connect to 5/8-inch fittings in the radiator of your 2007 Mountaineer. These parts then allow hose connection to the supplementary cooler you're installing, such as Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13504. For towing a trailer like what you mentioned with a 1999 Ford F-150 a supplemental transmission cooler would be a great option that we would highly recommend. Most likely your truck came with a factory cooler but typically they do not do a very good job at all. Especially around the age of your truck. The newer vehicles have better coolers but the older ones are adequate at best for light duty applications. I'd recommend the part # D13503 as this is a very popular and efficient cooler...

  • Derale Transmission Cooler for 2003 Ford Explorer Towing 3200-lb Boat Trailer
Generally the priority for cooling fluids in a tow vehicle is engine oil first, followed by transmission fluid, and then power steering fluid, if desired. Coolers like the Derale # D13504 are not fluid-specific; this cooler can be used for engine oil or transmission fluid. Coolers are also not vehicle-specific; you can use the largest cooler that will fit the space available for mounting one. Since you are planning to use a deep-pan tranny cooler I suggest you consider adding an engine...

Thank you for the photo of your sturdy F-350 that is in need of a little TLC in the form of a transmission cooler to help it when pulling those heavy loads. For your heavy-duty application you'll want a high-efficiency cooler that will give your transmission the most temperature reduction possible. This means using the largest Class IV cooler that you can fit in the area in front of the radiator and A/C condenser (if present). The cooler I recommend is the Derale # D13105 that you referenced....

  • Transmission Cooler for 2000 Ford F-250 Towing Heavy 5th Wheel Trailer
Any fluid leaking from a vehicle is a warning. Often this indicates excessive temperatures in your transmission. If your transmission is stressed to the point of leaking fluid this means that somewhere either a seal, hose or other fitting is being pushed past its limit. My first suggestion is that you try to find that leakage point so you can check whether you have a bad seal or fitting that can be replaced. Driving your truck, let alone towing a trailer with it, with an inadequate trans...

I recommend the Derale Single-Hose Transmission Cooler Installation Kit # D12006. I have provided a link to this product. • Important Temperatures to Monitor When Towing and How to Lower the Temperatures If Needed
The key temperatures to monitor when towing are the transmission fluid, engine oil and coolant temperatures. Each of these fluids will have different ranges that you will want to stay within. For transmission fluid, the ideal operating temperature is between 160 and 200 degrees. If you find that you are running over 200 degrees, I would recommend installing a supplemental transmission cooler, like part # D13504, if you do not already have one. I also recommend using the Ford radiator...

Transmission cooler installations are not vehicle specific because transmission coolers themselves are not vehicle specific so they general way they install will be the same. All of these things are different from vehicle to vehicle. The path of the transmission fluid should be...
