Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter
A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Wow, Shipped the morning I ordered. With notification. I think it was 3 business days to get here. Anyway, it was quick. I bought the entire kit for my vehicle comprised of the hitch, wire harness, two ball mounts with the balls included.
Nice heavy/strong box. Everything I needed. Instruction included. The hitch went on exactly as the on line video on my 2005 Grand Cherokee but I didn't need to use any of the spacers. A perfect fit. It took about 20 minutes to install the hitch, 5 minutes of that was getting the spare tire down and out of the way (first time).
It's raining so I haven't done the wire harness yet but it looks just as simple and quick to do. It's a total plug and play situation really.
Highly encourage anyone looking to get a hitch to look into purchasing from these folks. The web site, and the entire purchase experience to receiving the hitch and their follow-up on the order was first class. (Very nice, thank you.)
The wiring harness went on very easily. The only problem was that the right side wires should have been about a foot longer so that the harness could be routed without being so tight.

Thanks for all the other reviews on this product. I felt confident buying it, and I wasn’t disappointed. Got it with the wiring harness and install was super simple. Took 30 min, tops. The inclusion of the plastic bumper clips was stellar. I didn’t have to worry about breaking the old ones. Thanks for the great product and service etrailer.
I finally installed this yesterday, and can not thank you guys enough for the ease and simplicity of this installation. Here is a picture of the plug in place. Worked great the first time, no problems at all.

This wiring harness was very easy to install, modifications to the car are NOT needed, it just plugs into the existing car harness, and the directions are very good. The price is great and the harness works very well. I have had no issues with it and have been using it for a year. If not for this harness I would have had to have the dealer install a factory harness and program the computer at a very high cost. I highly recommend this harness.

Product working well, no problems after 1 year of use
I got this trailer wire harness very promptly. I will attempt the installation this weekend and see if it is as easy at it looks.
Good price and good instructional videos here online. This is my first transaction with etrailer and they seem like a good place.

After about a year the wire setup is still good. I was easy to install and has been working ever since. I used it on a 2005 Jeep G.C.
Easy to install. Took all of 10 minutes. Previous owner of my vehicle has installed some other brand and none of the trailer lights would work. This harness was perfect!

After a year, the wiring harness works perfectly.
Needed a new wiring harness, this was easy to install only took a few minutes. My old one got corroded inside the module, and this wiring harness fixed the problem of no power at the connector for the trailer lights. Will recommend this products to others.
After going through three different harnesses from another company. I found the right harness and it only took one time to make it right. installed it in a matter on minutes and it works GREAT! Thank for the great savings........ not having to ship the wrong harnesses back and forth.

Still working great was an easy install with no problems
I've had this product for a year and only used it a few times to trailer my boat. The initial install was very easy and the instructions were very detailed. It worked perfectly every time I've used it.
The only negative is that after only 1 year and about 5 uses the wiring has gotten extremely stiff and the contacts terribly corroded. It was stored with the rubber cover when not in use. Yes I realize it's been exposed to salt water, but my previous wiring harnesses lasted 7-8 years with frequent salt water use and I just don't see this one lasting half as long unfortunately.
The Tekonsha T-one wiring harness kit fit exactly as advertised, works exceptionally well, is exceptionally well made and included everything I needed for my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Took less than an hour to install (because I'm slow) by following the very clear instructions. Fully compatible connectors and color coding of wires made it easy. Recommend this kit to anyone looking for a high quality tailored kit. Stay Safe!
Easy to install. Still working a year later. Reasonably priced. Eliminates the need for splicing that doesn't fully work.

The harness works great couldnt be happier with it. Easy to install and the performnace is great.
It’s been a whole year since I installed this hitch from etrailer and although I don’t use it that often, it still looks and works great! Also saved about [price] by installing this product instead of the dealer hitch. Install was easy due to the great instructions that came with it. Keep up the good work etrailer!
Hitch and wiring harness both installed in about 3 hours - had to grind down a little area with a dremel tool on the frame to install the hitch ( frame related ) didn't even take bumper off. Harness came in the mail around 2 pm
in and working by 3 pm. Just for the sake of complaining - originally ordered harness through another online retailer, and after 10 days was notified that seller could not deliver the product, so a 1 star for them and had my new harness through etrailer in 5 days - GREAT TRANSACTION
It's a great hitch and installation was as easy as the other reviewers said it would be! The hitch itself is hefty like you want your hitch to be... the welds are clean and solid, and the coating/paint is good and thick.
I installed it on my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Once I dropped the spare tire out of the way, the hitch literally just slides into place and you just bolt it on with four 3/4" bolts. Done.
I also got the wiring harness (118394) which was just as easy to install. Watch the video and you'll be ready to go. Pop off the brake lights, plug the harness in, and then run the wires. Anyone can do this.

This connector worked perfectly for my 2006 Grand Cherokee , connectors fit snug to stock tail light harness and light and were good quality. I would recommend to others and would buy similar items fir my other vehicles.
I ordered the tow hitch wiring kit for my 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the part came in on time, and the installation video was very helpful, and left no guess work. With the help of the video, it took me about 25 mins to get it hooked up, I would definitely recommend this company for anyone looking to install a hitch on their vehicle.
I just received the T one wiring harness for my 05 grand cherokee. I Won't install it till later in the week but have no doubt it will work just fine as I have purchased other things from E Trailer and they were delivered on time and worked well. One of the items was a T One wiring harness for my 95 YJ. Same type of harness, and it would perfect. Also purchased the hitch that is on the 05 cherokee. I would have no problem ordering other things from E Trailer
