High-Efficiency LED Lights for Pop-Up Camper to Reduce Power Draw on Vehicle Wiring
Question:
I have a question about Item#118394, I have a pop up camper with clearance lights on the side as well as tail lights similar to Item # RVST50. I was wondering if this harness will be able to power all the lights without overload. I didnt want to run anything to the battery.

Your pop-up camper is not likely to have so many lights on it that it poses an overload risk to a wiring harness such as Tekonsha # 118394. This harness outputs a maximum of 2.1-amps to each stop/turn circuit, but more important for your concern is that on the running light circuit it can deliver up to 5-amps. Unless you have installed lots of additional lights on the camper you should be fine.
However, you can reduce the camper's power demands, and also improve its visibility, by replacing its lights with high-efficiency LED replacement 'bulbs'. All are shown on the linked page. If you can find your same bulb numbers among these you can install LEDs to both reduce strain on the vehicle wiring and enhance your safety. For example, for a popular 194 bulb replacement we offer LED light kits # ARC68FR (white), # ARC78FR (amber), and # ARC88FR (red). Each contains 2 bulbs.
