Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove the trim panels to access the harness.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Installation of the hitch went flawlessly! Bolted right up, less than 30 minutes.
The wiring harness was a breeze, no wires to splice! Just release the connections, insert the harness connections and done!!! 15 minutes max. and no issues. Wonderful!!

I have purchased hitches and wiring for 4 of my vehicles over the years and etrailers have always had excellent quality and service. Thanks for your reliability. Marty

I wanted to get a hitch for my Camry so I can haul my bike and other items. Everything fit perfect. Only time consuming part was cleaning out the corrosion on my car. Highly recommend!

Great product and packed well

Wire harness shorted out in my trunk somehow and needs to be replaced unfortunately

The Light harness is working perfectly. Have not had a problem. I especially liked the video instructions on installations. This made the install easy and allowed the harness to be out of the way so that it does not get hung up on items in the trunk. This was on my Toyota and I will be looking at purchasing a hitch and wiring harness from you in the future for my Kia.
Thanks again.

everything is still working great. I am very happy with the purchase.

2002 Toyota Camry

The hitch and tail light wiring harness have served me well. They bolted on easily (with the need only to drill two holes) and "plug and play" wiring made it possible to install quickly and use immediately. I have a small utility trailer and old light weight pop-up camper that I am able to use often. I have recommended your business to several people.

by:

This harness is very simple to install. The only decision I had to make was whether to trail the wires out of the trunk lid or cut through the sheet metal and install them with a grommet. I chose the former for simplicity now, but plan to pass the wires through the metal for a cleaner installation.

The installation or this wiring harness for my Camry was a breeze. Connectors connected. Wire lengths more than sufficient. Correct left-right links. I haven't had any problems in over a year. With this setup, if there is a problem with the trailer lights, I'll be confident it's not car-side.

2012 Toyota Camry

Got a very good price on a trailer hitch for my '95 Camry.
It was fairly simple to install (after watching etrailer.coms video).
I use it to haul around my little utility trailer (Harbor Freight) and my 12 ft kayak (BassPro).

by:

Easy plug and play. Been working perfectly for a whole year so far with no issues at all. Plenty long enough to reach any trailers wiring harness from the hook within the trunk. Would highly recommend

I was hoping that I would get the chace to review this purchase.
This is not my first purchase from etrailer and it will not be the last. My harness was ordered at 6:24 am on Friday, December 30th. The confirmation email from George came within six minutes and the email from Zachary at 8:30 am let me know it had shipped. It arrived on Thursday (that's four business days, over the holiday) and was installed with minimal effort in less than an hour.
This is the best customer service I have ever had, and that is not because all of the other industries are so bad (and they really are) it's because you took the time to figure out what a customer values and you do just that. That is why etrailer is the first place I look for this type of product and always tell my friends to do so as well.
By the way, the harness does work, that I expected, the great customer service was a welcome surprise. As a side note, the installation required that I empty the trunk and expose the spare tire and yes, it was low. I also backed the car into the garage and when the door closed I was able to notice a headlight bulb was burned out, you may have saved me a ticket.

Thank you for a great product and a pleasant shopping experience,
Rich Warren

Great Company and very good customer service. I have bought several items from them in the past few months for my trailer my husband was making for my power chair. The lighting harness was great, we bought a lighting kit for the trailer in town :( it was ok for the trailer, but the wiring for my car was a mess. The t-one kit from e-trailer was so easy to install and had all directions. Would buy agian and again from them. Thank you for such a great company.

Much cheaper than having the hitch-install people wire your trailer lights. Great product and price. Very fast shipping.

Puchased hitch components to tow trailered kayak. Videos on website fantastic in level of detail and clarity. Hitch went on as designed, some issues with removing old bolts and threads in frame (not surprising for a 15-year old car). Wiring harness was a breeze, worth every penny in saved time and frustration trying to make connections independently.

by:
2004 Toyota Camry

Like the etrailer video for a 2004 Toyota Camry, it went in flawlessly. There was no splicing of wires strictly plugging in plugs at each of the tail lights and the only hole or connection I had to complete was hooking up the white ground which was very easy to do. This was the easiest tail light hook up I’ve ever completed

by:
2002 Toyota Camry

I live in Indiana and I received my shipment the next day. You can't ask for better service than that. It took me only 40 minutes to install the hitch and wiring harness. I have done business with etrailer many times in the past and always have a great experience. Customer service is A1. I'll be back if I need some more stuff!

by:
2004 Toyota Camry

This kit was perfect. Remove two screws, remove the trunk threshold, disconnect the main cables going to the left side and connect the wiring harness. Repeat cable connection on the right side and re-install the trunk threshold. Make sure it works and you are done. Could not be any simpler than that. Took me less than 10 minutes to install.

by:

I ordered a trailer lighting harness about three days ago. It came yesterday and I put it in in about an hour. I tested it and everything works well. I am a repeat customer and I will be back when the need arises.

by:

Awesome Customer Service and Merchandise. Will no longer bother or waste time looking any where else for my Trailer needs!! Saved me time and money. More than met my expectations.

2003 Toyota Camry

PERFECT fit and a cinch to hook up. It worked great and stows neatly in the trunk area.
You need to get this ready-made system. Don't fool with anything else. You will thank yourself, as this moving stuff can be stressful for sure.

by:
2005 Toyota Camry

Fits like a glove, and is good quality. The wire is the correct size, and the plugs are constructed well. Has more than enough wire to reach to the other side of the car to plug in. The only issue is the tape on the back of the box to mount inside the car. I took the not so sticky tape off, and replaced it with double sided 3M tape.

by:
2002 Toyota Camry

The product is great, but the wrong instructions were in the package. The instructions were for a very different wiring kit and different vehicle. However, a brief search online led me to a video instructional that walked me through the process and everything is working great.

by:
2006 Toyota Camry

Very easy plug in and ready for use immediately. My old towing harness had stopped working and this one is working great.

  • Which of the Available Trailer Hitches for a 2002 Toyota Camry are Installed Above the Exhaust
You are correct. The larger capacity hitches for the 2002 Toyota Camry do go under the exhaust. The smaller capacity hitch goes above it. With a gross trailer weight of 825 pounds, any of the available hitches will be able to handle your boat and trailer. However, you never know what you might want to tow or carry in the future and the higher capacity hitches will allow for more possibilities, like carrying a bike rack. I recommend the more economical Class II hitch, the Draw-Tite...

  • Trailer Lighting on Driver's Side Fails to Work When Truck's Headlights are Turned On
It does sound like you are experiencing a ground problem. A weak ground will only support a limited current draw so this is most likely the reason that everything works fine until you turn on your headlights. I would start by checking the connector on the trailer. Check to make sure that the ground wire is securely grounded to a clean metal surface on the trailer. Each tail light assembly at the back of the trailer must also have a ground. Typically the lamp/signal is grounded through...

What that means is that the hitch has the capacity to tow a 3,500 lb trailer. You will need to check the owners manual of your car to determine if your car also has enough capacity as hitch and vehicle capacity aren't always the same. The lowest rated component in your towing setup is your overall capacity. To complete your towing...

  • Trailer Lights Not Working When the Headlights are Turned On in a 2003 Toyota Camry
It sounds like you have a ground issue. When the headlights are on, the highest amperage draw is placed on the wiring system and, a faulty ground will show at this time. Make sure you have good metal to metal contact. Paint and corrosion can act as insulators, so make sure the grounds are touching clean metal.
