Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Are There Other Colors for the Americana Hub-Piloted Steel Wheel - 17-1/2 x 6-3/4 - 8 on 6-1/2
The Americana Hub-Piloted Steel Wheel - 17-1/2" x 6-3/4" - 8 on 6-1/2 part # AM22704 is only offered in gray. That said, we do offer the Taskmaster Solid Center Wheel - 17-1/2" x 6-3/4" Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 part # TA45ZR which is similar and offered in silver.

  • Needing 17-1/2 x 6-3/4 Trailer Rims with 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern and 4.75 Inch Pilot Diameter
We offer 2 17-1/2 x 6-3/4 wheels that have an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern and a 4.76 inch pilot diameter. I'll run through them below. • # AM22461 is a modular style wheel with a silver powder coat with a -0.5 offset • # TA35ZR is a modular silver powder coated wheel with a +.08 offset which would move the wheel inward by .08 of an inch toward the trailer frame. I've linked to product description videos that for the wheels mentioned above.

  • What is the Offset for Loadstar ST185/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire w/13 Wheel
The wheel in Loadstar ST185/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire w/13" White Modular Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D Item # AM3S333 has a zero offset. The mounting surface of the wheel is centered with the tire. This zero offset is by far the most common for trailers. If a trailer tire has an offset, that means the mounting surface is not centered. A positive offset would put the wheel farther underneath the trailer like # AM20783, and a negative offset would put the tire slightly farther out from...

  • Do The Americana Hub Piloted Steel Wheels Have Alignment Holes
I checked out our floor stock and I could not find any Americana Hub-Piloted Steel Wheel w -0.5" Offset - 17-1/2" x 6-3/4" - 8 on 6-1/2 - Gray # AM22704 that had the alignment holes. I also checked on the manufacturers website and none of their product has the holes featured.

  • Comparing Positive and Negative Offset Wheels
Most trailer wheels have a zero offset, meaning that the place where the wheel touches the hub face is exactly centered between the front and the back edge of the wheel. This allows the weight to be perfectly centered on the wheel for the most load bearing. The Americana Hub-Piloted Steel Wheel w -0.5" Offset - 17-1/2" x 6-3/4" - 8 on 6-1/2 - Gray # AM22704 with a negative offset will have the center of the wheel 1/2 inch further from the trailer frame. I've attached a video of the Dexstar...

  • How to Determine Trailer Wheel Offset
Although I was unable to find any information on your trailer wheel offset based on the part number, you can still find this by measuring. Most trailer wheels have an offset of zero allows the wheel to handle the maximum load by distributing the the load equally to both sides of the wheel. In order to determine if your trailer wheels have an offset, you will want to remove a wheel from your trailer and measure from the mounting surface of the wheel (where the wheel mounts to the hub) and...
