Which of the Available Trailer Hitches for a 2002 Toyota Camry are Installed Above the Exhaust
Question:
Does the hitch for a 2002 Toyota Camry go above the muffler? The 3500 lb. hitch appeared to go under the muffler on the 2002 Toyota Camry. The boat I am looking at a boat that is 475 lbs. and the trailer is 350 lbs.. The hitch is for a towing capacity of 2000, so I think that would be the hitch for me. Thanks

You are correct. The larger capacity hitches for the 2002 Toyota Camry do go under the exhaust. The smaller capacity hitch goes above it.
With a gross trailer weight of 825 pounds, any of the available hitches will be able to handle your boat and trailer. However, you never know what you might want to tow or carry in the future and the higher capacity hitches will allow for more possibilities, like carrying a bike rack.
I recommend the more economical Class II hitch, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 36336. It has a tongue weight capacity of 3500 pounds and a gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 pounds. Remember to check your vehicles owner's manual for the towing capacities of your vehicle. I have included a link to a video installation and the instructions for this hitch below.
Next you will need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118308, to provide a 4 pole connection at the rear of your vehicle for trailer lights. This harness is a T-One type that plugs in line with your vehicle's taillights. I have included a link to the instructions below.
