Should E-Track Be Attached to Trailer Frame for Installation
Question:
I am looking to purchase several pieces of the E-track system and backer plates for my enclosed trailer. Although I have watched the videos, I am still unclear if, where possible, I should attach the track to the actual trailer frame where possible? Also, since the load Ill be carrying weighs less than 1000 lbs, would the backer plates through my 3/4inch plywood floor be sufficient? Thanks,

When installing an E-track, such as # E19148, it is always best to attach the track to the trailer's main structural components, such as the frame, when possible. The frame will provide the best support for the system. The E-Track Baking Plate # e96RR works well to help reinforce the E-track when the frame is not located in the area where you need to install your E-track.
The installation process for the E-track can vary on a trailer to trailer and cargo to cargo basis. To be sure your E-track is secured well enough to support your cargo, it is best to tie the E-track into the trailer frame whenever it is available. Supports that run horizontally long the trailer are great places to tie the track into the frame. The backing plates are great to supplement the installation whenever the frame is not available.
This will help secure the E-tracks well enough to secure your 1,000 pound cargo. Securing the E-tracks above what you expect to need is the way to go, in case one day you want to carry a heavier load, or let your buddy borrow the trailer who needs to carry something heavier than you typically carry.
I've attached an installation photo from the underside of a trailer that shows backing plates being used to supplement the installation between the frame. Two screws from the E-track can also be seen that are installed through the trailer's frame.

on E-Track

I am planning to install several lengths of track to the floor and walls of my 20 foot enclosed trailer. However, with wood floors and walls installed I will not be able to bolt down the tracks. Can I use screws attached directly to the metal cross members similar to the way the plywood is attached? I only plan on using tie downs to prevent containers from sliding or tipping over. Thanks
