E-Track Parts to Secure Rock Crawler on Deck Trailer

Question:

I recently purchased a trailer to haul my 5000lb rock crawler. the previous owner was using an e track system for tie downs, the trailer has 8 e track segments positioned PERPENDICULAR to the direction of pull. can I use e track extensions with a 90* twist then a strap over the top of the tire safely? would the e track ring s work for my application?

It is best to have E-Tracks like # E19148 installed in the direction of travel for securing a vehicle. The previous owner of the trailer may have had a specialized cargo application that required left-to-right positioning of the tracks. That's fine for tool boxes and equipment but for a 2-1/2-ton vehicle with a high center of gravity it is safer to have the wheel nets like # 77314 installed without twists or lateral tension.

It's no big deal to make the minor modification needed. You don't have to mount full-size track like the 5-foot # E19148. We have small sections of E-Track you can position exactly where they need to be for the wheel nets. For instance, we have 4-inch section # EM19145 rated for 2000-lbs each. You can mount these using backing plate # e96RR, which goes under the deck, for a very solid installation.
