I added the extra 10 watt solar panel to my TorkLift Power Armor battery box. Installation was fast as the battery box was already pre-drilled for the extra panel. All the hardware and connections were included. My batteries stay maintained and are always ready for the road!

I had previously bought a Forklift PowerArmor Battery Box without the Solar Power Kit. Having decided to add the Solar Kit I ordered the kit and received same in good order as has been my experience with e-trailer. The problem came as I was installing the unit in the box. The directions said to use the machine screws with clips to attach the solar panel to the lid. The trouble was the clips they sent were for sheet metal screws not machine screws. The hardware bag had 4 #8 machine screws and 4 #8 sheet metal screws that were supposed to be used to screw the electrical connector to the battery box except the predrilled holes in the battery box were to large for the screws machine or sheetmetal. I used the sheetmetal screws to hold the solar panel to the lid and ran to the hardware store to purchase 4 stainless steel machine screws, washers and nuts to hold the electrical connector to the battery box. I have no idea if the solar panel is working that's going to be a wait and see deal at this time

by:

Product is great - But I was very displeased to find out that these units sell for $ 109.00 to $ 119.00 on the internet elsewhere. I will not be using etrailer.com in the future.

Just received panel, great service as always. Adding to existing battery box.

  • Solar Panel Kit Recommendation for Trailer with Battery Box to Maintain Batteries When Stored
The Solar Power Kit for TorkLift PowerArmor Battery Box # TLA7713 is basically exactly what you are looking for. It was designed to install on a battery box and allow you to put a trickle charge on the batteries as they are stored. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Is Regulator Needed when Installing Solar Power Kit for TorkLift PowerArmor Battery Box
For your two batteries you would not need to install any type of regulator with the 10 watt solar panel part # TLA7713. This wouldn't put out enough wattage/amperage that it would require regulating for your batteries. The picture I attached shows it wiring directly to a battery.

  • Solar Panel Recommendation for Charging Deep Cycle Battery Installed on Trailer
We don't carry fuse panels or deep cell cycle batteries so those two things you'll have to source elsewhere. Basically what you are wanting to do is very possible but it really comes down to you picking out the best battery for your application. Which is going to be the biggest one you can find. We do have a solar panel option we can help with. I recommend the Solar Power Kit from Torklift # TLA7713. This is a 10 watt panel that will maintain the charge to boost the life of your battery...

  • Recommended Solar Battery Charger for Scout Troop Trailer
For your Scout Troop's new trailer, I recommend taking a look at the TorkLift Solar Power Kit # TLA7713. This will do a great job of continuously charging your trailer battery as long as light is available. The 10 watt panel will maintain a charged battery or can bring a depleted battery back from 50 percent life. If you plan on using the panel with a single battery, you will just need to add the 8-Amp Regulator # TLA7715 to prevent overcharging. I have attached a short video demonstration...

  • Can the Solar Power Kit for TorkLift PowerArmor Be Used Alongside Other Battery Chargers
The risk that you run of charging your batteries with multiple sources at once is overcharging them. This can also be an issue with a single source but not likely with what you mentioned because I would be willing to bet each of these has built-in protection form overcharging save for maybe the 12 volt pin on the 7-way but this most likely won't provide enough amps for this to occur. In summary, you can us the Solar Power Kit for TorkLift PowerArmor Battery Box part # TLA7713 while also...

The Torklift Solar Power Kit # TLA7713 referenced in your question will work with both 6 volt and 12 volt batteries. You will only need to add an 8-amp regulator # TLA7715 if you are planning on using 4 or more batteries and you are connecting two of the TorkLift Solar Panels. Since you are using two 6 volt batteries, you will not need a regulator. I have attached an image that shows the wiring instructions when using two 6 volt batteries that you might also find helpful.

You'd need a battery on your trailer to power the items you mentioned as a solar panel on a trailer would not have enough power for all of them at any given time. You'd want to use a solar panel like the # TLA7713 to charge that battery as needed but it would not be ideal for powering accessories directly. Refrigerators draw quite a bit of amperage so you'd need a decent battery plus possibly additional panels. With the Y-kit part # TLA7714 you can add more. Each of the # TLA7713 panels...
